Just seeing that photo makes me glad I bought that 2 pack... Although I'll be removing the van roof when Ironhide's in bot mode. :lol:

Just got my Doubledealer from the Amazon sale today, this dude is beefy. Bird mode transformation is somewhat annoying with the legs, but his other modes are solid, and like D-Max's pictures, I'm absolutely displaying him in that Final Fantasy final boss-looking fanmode version of the bot mode.

Keep it on? Did you just mean he can store it back there? You have to remove it to transform it, it transforms the same way the Siege version it's remolded from does. Ironhide's bot mode back is the underside of his alt mode.

Damnit, Seibertron doesn't have a pic of G1 Ironhide or G1 Ratchet in that "Van shell hanging off the back" fanmode

Yeah, store it would be the most accurate wording, and this was the first pic of him having it stored on his back that I've seen. Similar to Cliffjumper in the beginning when all the pics showed him holding his back as a shield and people were upset, then people were happy when they finally showed a pic with it stored on his back.

IMO in Ironhide's case it looks better as a shield, on account of A. actually being a long flat-ish surface rather than a lump of car aft and B. getting in the way when on his back because of being so long.

Of course, it would look better still as this:

But alas.

I know a lot of people don't care, but for me it's enough of a let-down that it's rekindled my desire for freaking Timelines Ironhide... :( :BANG_HEAD:

No, i totally get what you're saying. And I wonder if you can almost replicate this if you have Siege Ratchet? That silver piece raised towards the back looks like the piece that comes with Ratchet and goes over his shoulder plus his handgun. If Ironhide's roof/shield shield has a 5mm port it might work.

That is exactly what Ratchets shoulder launcher is based on. I still say they should have tooled a battle platform compatible with the base system

Yeah, that would have been nice. I've schemed on building my own for the SIEGE versions.

Speaking of Ratchet's shoulder launcher, if you lend it to Ironhide you can recreate the bit from MTMTE where Ironhide goes airborne in pursuit of the Decepticons and uses what's obviously his battle platform launcher as a shoulder launcher. Makes me wish someone would do an add-on kit that has a clone of that launcher and two clones of Mirage's missile (since SIEGE Mirage's missile looks close to Ratchet and Ironhide's G1 toy missile).

So am I the only one that's bummed by Prowl's feet? They're completely hollow and open! At least try to cover up the gaping holes, Hasbro!

As for the clones, I'm stunned that they're on clearance already. I saw them only once at Target, and there was only 1 set. Of course, I bought it.

Almost every time the new Earthrise Datsun mold is shown off in promotional pics, those pieces on the inner ankles aren't flipped down to cover up some of the obvious cavities in the feet. They only reason those were engineered into the figure was to make them look better, and when is it more important that a figure look as visually appealing as possible than in a promotional photograph!? Seriously, Hasbro needs to get this figured out. Have someone who knows how to correctly transform the toys help with the photoshoots!

Yeah, can we please get the Unicron Trilogy photo crew back? They knew what the crap they were doing.

I know everyone has their own way of collecting, I just always thought of those 2 as a team, since they're both Horrorcons.
Forgot to respond to this. Based on the comments I've seen, it's because of them perceiving either Apeface's jet mode or Snapdragon's dino mode in the same negative light you perceive SIEGE Skyfire's jet mode.

Rodimus Prime wrote:So am I the only one that's bummed by Prowl's feet? They're completely hollow and open! At least try to cover up the gaping holes, Hasbro!
I'm sure you're not, but it's probably hitting people less hard because we've kiiiiiiiinda known about those hollow feet for months already thanks to Smokescreen existing. :P Frankly the original toy is just as hollow and open, but it's harder to see because of the Autobot Car Mermaid Syndrome...

Also, as Wolfman Jake points out, there apparently is a cover. It's just that the marketing and PR idiots prove for the umpteenth time that they can't be trusted with anything more complex than a One-Step.

Even before knowing about the cover piece, I was more disappointed by Prowl still having Smokescreen's spoiler and overall having the same "bland lumpy modern car" look as Universe: Classics 2.0 Prowl :-x .

Rodimus Prime wrote:As for the clones, I'm stunned that they're on clearance already. I saw them only once at Target, and there was only 1 set. Of course, I bought it.
I'm guessing something screwy happened with the timing of their arrival and the stocking schedule.

I see. I have yet to open my Siege Apeface so I don't know how bad he is in hand. I'm still getting Snapdragon, mainly to complete the pair. I never noticed on Smokey. I guess I didn't pay enough attention, or was thrown by the completely bland back side of the car, which ironically turn into the feet.

In any case, it's apparently actually a non-issue because of the cover piece that the photo idjits keep failing to use.

Re: the Horrorcons it's just one mode of three for each that I've seen getting bagged on. And frankly, I don't think the detractors are giving either enough credit (both designs frankly work small miracles tidying up from the G1 toys, which were both reeeally bad about having one mode's extra limbs awkwardly hanging off in robot and beast mode).

Apeface's jet mode does end up a bit blocker than the original because of a combination of somewhat smaller wing-to-body ratio and a tradeoff made to make his robot and gorilla modes tidier and better-articulated, but I don't think it hurts the look as much as some people say.

Heh.

Oh! The other thing I've seen people bashing with Apeface is the slightly pearlescent ivory plastic he uses - they act like it's KO plastic. The truth is quite the opposite - it's actually a good-quality nylon-based plastic that handles flex stress better than Hasbro's standard ABS does. Apeface has some small tabs that hook his jet and gorilla modes together that would probably snap like twigs after a few transformations if he was made from the standard ABS.

New Images of Earthrise Ironhide, Prowl, Ramjet and Dirge

Takara has posted new images of upcoming Earthrise toys on their Twitter page. They have Ramjet and Dirge as well as Earth Mode Ironhide and Prowl. Please note that Prowl does have panels to make his feet look less hollow but they have not been placed properly in the robot mode image. Ironhide has his sled/shield/roof on his back, showing a different way to place it in robot mode. Takara also posted images of the toys featuring characters found in the newly released Netflix show. Of those posted, only Elita 1 and Bumblebee has yet to come out in the west. We thank fellow Seibertronian aronjlove for the tip.

I love apeface, (just be careful with his shield) the connection of the beast head to the ape body isn't the best, but it's solid once together ;)^

Sadly I'm just a British werewolf in Teesside :lol:

Ahem

As for these latest shots, the coneheads are looking quite nice. So I'm now wondering which one came first, the idea to retool Elita from Earthrise Arcee or the decision to make her a major character in the show.

Motto: "Earthrise restock or riot"
Possibly the latter, considering that Elita has been on Hasbro's radar more strongly the past few years.

Although the decision to make her an ER Arcee retool obviously came relatively early in ER Arcee's development.And is the reason the mold has the issues it does; they seem to have made it a total shellformer for the sake of making the robot body easy to swap out for a different one.
Ugh... It doesn't suit Elita very well (it would be better as Ariel) and it came at cost to Arcee's quality as a transforming to... Blagh. To the complaint box!
WANT:
* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

Di Bonaventura is not a credible or trustworthy source. And most fans do like the diversity push, thanks.

Trading MOSC MMPR fliphead Pink Ranger for ER Fasttrack or SIEGE Refraktor

Weapon: Vibro-Axe
The coneheads look AMAZING. No regret preordering. They will look great beside my G1 Platinum set. Prowl and Ironhide don't look good at all. Not enough colors and that embarrassing misstransformation doesn't do them any favor.
Come see my latest creation, a Galvatron Combiner using 4 SS86 Sweeps as limbs HERE!

Also, an update to my old ALL HELICOPER VICTORION!
