Haven't they always? I don't think I've ever bought a clearance figure from Target that didn't have at least one clearance sticker on it, sometimes two or three depending on how long the figure sat for.

I had to get mine off Target.com. I'm curious if they bothered sticking clearance tags on the empty shelf.

...I had an ugly thought: That clearance stickers can't mark down stuff independently of the computer after all. Which would definitely explain the problem with Shockwave. Because they certainly don't want to mark down the shiny new Earthrise Leaders.
I'll have to see if writing to Target can get me a definitive answer.

That is exactly the rant I had. I am fortunate to have 10 Target stores I can drive to and get to in 30 minuets or less in any direction (the closest is less than 10 minutes away).
Brickseek came through for me when I got Scorponok, had to drive 25 miles one-way, and argue with 2 levels of management to get it out of the back, but I got it. Since then My daughter saw it one other time at my closest store, but seeing as how I've not seen it since, I don't regret my actions. Yes I've seen the tag & shelfspace at some stores, bit not the toy itself. Then seeing MP Starscream Everywhere, and in multiples (a similarly priced toy) is maddening, then it goes on clearance, then they issue another slightly less expensive MP ...![]()
I asked here though, if fans were satisfied with the availability of Scorponok, since most are getting him online, there didn't seem to be any complaint. I guess I'm just old fashioned, still like to see what I'm getting before I buy it, if at all possible.

None of them had enough shelf space to carry it except the Super Target. MP Screamer uses less than 1/2 the shelf space than Scorponok, and MP ratchet, 1/2 the space that MP Screamer does and only 1/4 the space Scorponok does.
Makes perfect sense why they would choose that way when you look at the perspective of "Where the hell are we going to put that?"
Also, as for seeing wanting to see a Titan in hand first, what do you specifically want to see, the box? It isn't like the smaller figures where you can pick out the best deco, or see if any pieces are missing.

I understand about shelfspace, but when Scorponok is guaranteed to sell, and they mark MPM Starscream 1/2 off after about a month of being out?, then replace it with another MPM that takes up less space, but won't sell any better...It's pretty obvious which toy would have been better to stock more of, in spite of how large it's box was
D-Maximal_Primal wrote:I don't think we can automatically assume a G1 toy would sell better either
o.supreme wrote:I think the fact that ER Scorp instantly sells out is proof enough, while MPM has to be clearanced for someone to even be interested.
o.supreme wrote:Also Siege Shockwave wasn't that great a toy, kind of like MPM Starscream, and wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overproduced.
D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Again incorrect, Siege Shockwave was a pretty good toy. He was overproduced, but again goes to show the weakness and inconsistency of clearance items: he has shelfwarmed for over a year and no discount, while another was a fresh release with no preorder and went on clearance after only a month. The sales are not consistent.

I knew it! Purple, gun arm, ambitious, BW Megatron is Shockwave!Hellscream9999 wrote:This is correct, siege shockwave uses the same store inventory number as earthrise doubledealer, and (likely) will share the same inventory number as kingdom bw megs - they're all the same in targets eyes

Did they change them, though? There was a Combiner Wars Starscream that had been lingering on the shelves at one Target in my area throughout Titans Return and was still there well into Power of the Primes. And when I scanned him? He had the same price as a PotP Leader.Hellscream9999 wrote:D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Again incorrect, Siege Shockwave was a pretty good toy. This is correct, siege shockwave uses the same store inventory number as earthrise doubledealer, and (likely) will share the same inventory number as kingdom bw megs - they're all the same in targets eyes - you can't clearance one without affecting all the others; the only way to do that (and the smart way) is to change the inventory numbers along with the line a 'la the way it was done with the prime wars trilogy

Hope you're right... I guess maybe I should be more worried about getting ahold of Netflix Soundwave.
Did you have difficulty finding any of the first assortment WFC Netflix figures?

This is kinda what I've been thinking. If this is the case it could end up being an exciting toyline or something really off-putting.Sowndwave76 wrote:And for me personally, will I still be collecting 3-5 years from now??? Maybe, but I'm really pretty happy with what I currently have.
I wouldn't doubt if after the ER and SS86 lines I take another lengthy collecting hiatus.
Again, we think (and collect action figures) alike.Sowndwave76 wrote:My advice would be to get the two pack...
You could probably sell Ironhide if you really end up not liking him.
If you're okay with getting $20 for him, I'd feel pretty confident that someone would buy him for that price. Then you've spent $20 on Prowl like you would for any other deluxe.
Right right. I think it's hard to make a decision to buy something that I know I'll be turning around and selling as soon as I open the box. But then again, there could be someone out there who wants Ironhide and not Prowl, kind of like I want Prowl and not Ironhide. Ehhh I'll just have to think on it some more.

I just got my notice of his arrival as well. I hope it won't get delayed like some of the other figures I ordered then had to cancel.Sowndwave76 wrote:BTW, the Smokescreen I ordered through Amazon is going to arrive on Thursday!!
Which is actually a month earlier than what my order confirmation stated.
& last I looked he’s $18.84 if anyone else was looking for him.
