I think a lot of disdain comes from the fact that it was kept complete secret, and maybe some people expected better extras. Yeah, the jolly rancher rung is a big letdown to some, but to me rung wasn't a big deal in the first place. It felt like the designers were trying to appease the IDW fans, and it came off bad. If they wanted to do it right, he should have been a deluxe.
Anyway, if I hadn't bought a Magnus already, I would definitely pick this up. As a matter of fact, if someone wants to trade 1 for the other, PM me and we'll work something out.

I can't believe that made it past Hasbro's QC people. Whether because they didn't pay enough attention, or thought it wouldn't be too noticeable, that's a big oopsie. Because those definitely look like middle fingers.Cobotron wrote:Screw articulation! I love that he's flipping everybody the double bird!

I don't dislike the Netflix Magnus, just don't see enough to make me buy him again. And I really want that Rung. But right now money is tough, buying TP on the streets lmao.

The molding up close doesn't look that way at all, just that one picture. Mostly it just looks weird, but it is fun to attach the pew pew effects to.Rodimus Prime wrote:I can't believe that made it past Hasbro's QC people. As somebody whose spent a large chunk of their life following rvb and other projects, I have heard literally nothing about this and angry comments on their videos would be prime real estate to learn such things; I feel like he's just here to start a flame war over it, but this isn't the thread for that.
Anyway, I'm glad there are people that like this figure, I agree that a lot of the dislike is likely coming from the fact that hasbro hyped it up with the 'secrecy' gimmick and the spoiler tag line, with it ending up being just 'extra battle-damaged' magnus

Yeah, that's why I said I wouldn't buy him again, but I would gladly trade this for the earlier one. I like how this one looks, except for the shoulders. But it is disappointing it wasn't a new deco entirely.aronjlove wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Okay, I'll be in the minority again. I like the Netflix Magnus. As for Rumble, I would like to see someone take a frontal pic of him holding both his hands up, to see whether he really is going all 'Stone Cold' or not.

Oh god don't say that, now you're making me want Hasbro to make it.
Of course, it would require a new Hot Rod/Rodimus, Kup, Blurr, Wreck-Gar, Cyclonus, and Galvatron, but I think at least 75% of that is coming in the next year or two anyway, so...

eh, whichever, I'm flexible, probably all the main bots and cons; we'll be getting arcee and arguably legends tr blurr, I dunno, just seeing that pic made me nostalgic for the movie

I totally get that, and it would be cool if we had all the characters in Siege to get it done. But I'm sure some figures from previous lines would be happy to substitute.Hellscream9999 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Do you mean just the prominently featured few, or all of them? Yeah, I think cyclonus holds up, but the new cohesive scale and aesthetic would really bring a new box set together better than the old one, and I'm not saying we need it now, or next year, but when this trilogy/scale/aesthetic is being seen off, it would be a cool note to go out on

His extras were made known from previous toy listings. It was Ultra Magnus's deco that was kept secret and so people expected there to be something more to the deco than just bigger mud stains.Rodimus Prime wrote:I think a lot of disdain comes from the fact that it was kept complete secret, and maybe some people expected better extras.

I'm guessing that, if they did end up doing something like this, so as not to try to sell a $300 boxset, they'd sell multiple smaller sets with the characters split up randomly, of like Magnus + Cyclonus, Rodimus + Galvatron (obv), Blurr + Arcee + Scourge, etc.

Yeah probably, but it would be cool if that allowed them to put in blast effects from the poster for the bots and a display piece with the poster as the background ala the studio series with the cons

Buried somewhere in the product copy or on the package, it mentions this is material that kids can excavate the Energon cubes from. I expected one of those sandy things that show up as stocking stuffers where you dig out a gemstone or something, not, well whatever that is!MadProject wrote:I'm failing to understand what that pic with the black-putty-thing is supposed to show.

I've been watching RT for years and haven't seen anything like that, they might of responded to criticism and likely just disagreed with them but never once have I seen any actual attacks on the fanbase at least ones that were not on the wrong side of things, I've seen some RT guys rightfully call out on people who actually deserved it.aronjlove wrote:I guess I only know them from Red vs Blue and RWBY, surprised I never heard of this?Skritz wrote:I'm just waiting for the fandom to once again inevitably split as the Netflix show turn out to be **** awful and Rooster Teeth start spasming out and attacking the fanbase for not liking it, given their track record.
Let's not forget that RT isn't even making the show so Skritz comment is not even accurate, the people making the show are the same people who made the Prime Wars shows so if anything it's on them.
Ultra Magnus is disappointing I suppose but the only thing it could of been was Decepticon Ultra Magnus since there is no way that the boxed set was going to be anything not related to the show, it wasn't going to be some drastically different deco and since the diaclone colors are used for Delta Magnus now it's likely that they would of just named the set Delta Magnus and not Ultra.
I'm actually kinda hoping for a yellow Ultra Magnus (Shining Magnus) so I might call him "Plus Ultra Magnus"

Actually RT are producing the show (with animation supplied by Polygon Pictures who did the recent Star Wars Resistance cartoon and TF: Prime, and The 2015 Robots in Disguise series)
So yes, RT have a part to play in this new series and rest assured of it goes wrong, there is plenty of people involved to pass the blame ball to.

Those blast effects now make me further want Rung repainted into Kaon from the DJD with electric blast effects (since they'll never make a figure that turns into an electric chair, and they have surprisingly similar bot mode designs anyway).
