Well, that Mirage decided to look FABULOUS but then, threw himself into sooth and dirt because reasons.
I forgive the stupid spoiler in vehicle mode just because of that cool and hilarious color scheme.

Wow, after getting some of the netflix figures it made me think of how many times I have bought some molds. I do wish we would get more seekers in this body, not the ER one.

I highly recommend the Megatron set, :CON: Mirage, and Scrapface. They all have great decos and the last two are basically new characters.

Well, Megatron is basically "PREMIUM" Megatron. The one with the right paintjob.

Hotlink is a must though. Sexiest paint job and if you don't want to pay stupid price for the Skywarp set, he's the perfect Skywarp stand-in.

Having a "classic" looking Megatron have nothing to do about being "geewun". The "true geewun" folks would get Toyworld Hegemon or another voyager "g1" looking Megs that change into a gun, not a tank.

Having a classic "g1" Megs in the display with all the other "g1" looking recent trilogies is the way to go. Titan Return, or Siege. Because having let's say, Prime Megatron in a Siege display would look pretty goofy.

Still, what Megatron do you have so that he's the only one that need to be in your collection? This must be the "ultimate" and "definitive" Megatron for you.

I think I get the gist of what you said.
Well, I personally don't think Siege Megs is a really nice mold to begin with. So I too won't double-dip with the Netflix version because I already have the Siege one.

I may sound like a heretic but for me, the best "G1" Generations Megatron remain the Combiner Wars leader.

If we're talking about Megatrons, I still like Toyworld's Hegemon the best.

CW Leader Megs is great, but way too large for my tastes. Siege is great. Netflix is better. But, yeah, not enough to double dip for me either. Megatron was everywhere, so I wonder how well the Netflix version is actually selling.

Easy. WAY better paint job. Same thing with Hotlink actually. That seeker was just "one more seeker" but that deco is too sweet to ignore. In fact, all the Netflix boxes are selling like crazy, even the deluxes who are just the same thing but with added dirt. The appeal of sweet decos is strong.

Eh, even the "toon shaded" Megatron and Optimus sold like hotcakes.

That's got to be a Canadian thing. Regular Megatron was a shelf warmer in the US which probably killed a lot of interest for the 35th Ann. version. Even with what seemed like half of the Walmarts in the US not carrying the 35th line the guy was majorly discounted on Walmart.com. Right now on Walmart.com regular Megatron is $15 and 35th is $25, I think the Netflix version will see similar price cuts.

Since I got back into collecting back in 2015, oddly enough I never had a proper Optimus or Megatron. Earthrise finally is the proper Optimus I finally purchased. I'm still waiting for a Megatron that is really definitive as "it". Siege ( and it's 4 reuses) just doesn't strike the right cord, and ER is no better. Unfortunately because of the problematic nature of Megatron not being able to be a realistic gun, wemay never again see a Megatron that really makes me want to own it.

And yes there are still 35th anniversary and regular Siege Megatron's at some Walmarts around me.

Regular Siege Megatron was also kinda shelfwarming too. Especially because the damn thing was in every single voyager waves.

I personally don't think we've had a perfect "proper" CHUG version of G1 Optimus yet, they've all had their flaws... I personally tend to favor CW Optimus as my "good enough" version right now; he has the basic look albeit a bit chunkier and with fake chest windows, and I like his size better than the WFC versions.

Megatron.. I still think the best way to handle him would be to do an altmode that keeps his 1984 toy's silhouette but changes the surface details to make it ostensibly not a firearm. And has modules based on the stock and silencer. SIEGE Megatron is good enough to fill in until that happens.

Every single figures that ever existed and ever will, will be flawed one way or another.
For Optimus, general consensus is that the Earthrise Leader is like a budget Masterpiece because he's so amazing. Even if the trailer is a bit barebone.
Proof is he's been sold out everywhere at full price and is impossible to order online without a markup. Also, I've yet to find a single negative video review.

If Siege Megs is a "good enough" toy, so is Siege Optimus. But ER Optimus is pretty much perfection for correcting the Siege's flaws and adding features.

For me, Siege Megs look perfect in bot mode but the tank is iffy. His main problem is that he's also not too fun to transform because too many things feel "not solid" in hand. Maybe Earthrise Megs will pull a ER Optimus and correct the flaws that the Siege one had and improve the overall feel?

There is one downisde it could never have hoped to change, though: The size. SIEGE Optimus is a bit on the small size for a CHUG Optimus, especially in vehicle mode. ER Optimus couldn't help but inherit that, and the trailer only serves to emphasize it. Of course, that couldn't be helped either what with him being only a Leader-class figure.

Frankly I find SIEGE Megs' tank mode to be the more solid. It actually tabs together all the way, unlike his robot mode where the neckplate doesn't actually secure in place.
Earthrise Megatron is of next to no interest me. He's still a tank, his melee weapon looks more awkward except when held by the peg behind the barrel, and his head is less detailed.

Blame Optimus's size on the "accurate" scale of the current generation. Personally, I love that scale obsession. Make for more consistent figures instead of having sizes that are all over the place like deluxes Megatrons and ultra class Powerglide.

As for ER Megs, the only logical thing to do is to wait and see. Because so far, only stock photos have been shown. But having the Siege already, I will wait for the inevitable ER Megs repaint.

The thing is, even by the "scale accuracy" standard, I think WFC Optimus is too small. I find Combiner Wars Optimus to be more accurate scale-wise, in both modes. Going by the official scale guide, Sideswipe should come up to around Optimus' waist. Comparing SIEGE Sideswipe to CW Optimus? This matches up. But comparing him to SIEGE Optimus, he seems to come up to Optimus' abs, if not slightly past them. Does ER Optimus fare any better on that comparison? But even if he does, he's still too small in truck mode.

No, we haven't seen only stock photos. We've also seen photos of him from the Toy Fair.

Optimus wasn't really that big of a guy, he's not that much taller then say Ironhide or Ratchet traditionally, he's a flat-nose truck he's not going to be a giant among Transformers.
