Sign me up for this!

Rescue bots had this for the most part. With a Griffin duobot, a Yeti bot, and loads of dragons.

Not exactly organic, but, Prime BeastHunters had several griffins, dragons and maybe cerberii.

Skylinx, Ripclaw, Darksteel, Lazerback. Predaking (3 headed, though not a dog)

So, going back more on topic: given Hasbro tend to design molds for retools from day one nowadays any ideas who these Voyagers could be reused as? Obviously Soundwave ain't getting much use unless they do a Blaster retool (too obvious?) and Starscream will be getting recolored into the seeker rainbow. That leaves Optimus and Megatron. Will they simply get recolors or will these molds be retooled into someone else? Or are there more Voyagers mold we haven't seen?

Depending how you count and if you count massive reshell (Hot Spot and Onslaught being a good example of a shared skeleton on an otherwise very different figure) as a distinct mold, Combiner Wars had between 4-6 Voyager molds and Titans Return had around 5-6. So my guess is Siege has at least two more molds which are either heavy retools or brand new.

The CW and PotP Optimus molds have an alternate Prime head that were used for Toxitron and Nemesis Prime, so "clones" promoting from redeco to co-tool status is something to take note of. And Megatron can be retooled into any large Decepticon with a tank mode, which are a dime a dozen.

Springer has been listed, same Wave as Thundercracker, so already we have one redeco incoming.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Well, looking at the Siege Optimus I think all he'd need is new front/torso to not look completely like Optimus Prime. However I am unsure which other Transformers could make use of that altmode, as it seems a little too early to see Motormaster again right after Combiner Wars and Magnus has his own unique tooling. Megatron could end up as Quake or Bludgeon I suppose.

That said it is worth noting the only 'evil version' of a character we got as a mass retail product during the Prime Wars is Rodimus Unicronus so I don't really expect to see Nemesis Prime show up in any mass retail waves. It IS possible some of these characters simply get a new version of themselves with a different deco but part of me find this a bit unlikely given Siege's pandering to G1 cartoon.

They'd still count as not all pretools are for main retail, some are just silly ideas that worked well enough to make it past planning :)

Fair enough but what about those retools who do make it to retail? I'm curious to see what they could do with those current molds, not to mention there is also the possibility Starscream/the Siege seeker mold has an extensive reshell as some other jet-bot.

I just had a thought. Given this line's focus on weapon upgrades, especially with the leader class figures, what do you think the odds are of us getting a new Jetfire in this line? I doubt they would cause he'd have to be a decently large leader class figure to scale correctly, but I think it would be cool to see how they handle him and his weapon pack

They could try a cybertronian Jetfire as a Star Saber pretool. Not saying it will happen, but it would be doable. :-?

Hey, with as little as the RotF one did to be a jetpack/armor, they could accomplish it! design the legs to detach so the leg articulation isn't hindered, the armor pieces attach to Prime, and the rest of Jetfire attaches as a jetpack!

It would be cool but right now it seems like Shockwave is the only figure to break the must-be-a-gimmick-the-original-had rule, aside from the Weaponizers and Micromaster weapon modes which seem to exist as their own 'thing'.

I think you need to compare to PotP instead since it will be a 4 wave line. PotP had 5 voyagers across the first 3 waves. We already have 6 voyagers announced or indicated by Listings without any word on poor Skywarp. I wouldn't expect any more Voyagers for regular release in Siege, though I think a black repaint/remold of OP and Skywarp would be pretty good bets for exclusives. As for new molds, I'm afraid that will probably have to wait for the next line.

The smart thing about short lines and no gimmicks is there's no longer a need to try to pack all of the retools and repaints into one line. I still think Optimus would make for a great Thunderclash with some retooling and his torso turned around while Megatron has all the looks of Armada Megatron (again).

If they did do A Jetfire that works like Movie Jetfire and can be combined with Optimus, not only would I want him to look like his cartoon self in both forms, but also be capable of something like this (with articulation) for a future retool:

I really just want to see Wing Saber revisited someday, it doesn't have to have anything to do with Jefire.

Not me, honestly. I'd rathe see Blaster get his own mold so that they can do him right. Soundwave and Blaster were never retools of each other in G1. Every time they have paired them with a mold since then, one or the other suffers several compromises. Soundwave can just be repainted as SoundBlaster later on, and a new Blaster could be repainted as Twincast, something Hasbro hasn't actually done yet to this day. Repaints will recoup the costs as much or more than retools.

Idle speculation.

Tetra jets, Meg tank, Prime combat vehicle, SW lamppost. Okay most if not all from the G1 Pilot and DW WWi inspired.

Would/could "Skyfire" get some lovin' in this line? technically, in the show, he was in the freezer for the length of the entire war. He could be released but without any battle damage.

I wouldn't WANT to see a Motormaster retool of Siege Optimus. That would be garbage, honestly. Megatron on the other hand I could see being retooled into the Fallen, and that would be cool.

A Blaster retool of Soundwave is a definite possibility, and a big want (especially if done well).

All this talk about retools and repaints, and I'm still impressed by this --

Image

Usually Hasbro doesn't miss a chance to do repaints, even when it doesn't make sense (Slingshot / Blast Off) --

Hasbro could have easily released the "Ultra Magnus" mold both as that, and in red/blue as Optimus Prime, and call it a day.

But instead we get two different molds with the same iconic details/features in different styles/proportions, and with two different truck-modes.

This is largely why I pre-ordered Magnus despite already having the MP.

The interesting thing regarding that Megatron mold and potential retools is that no matter who they retool it as, if anyone, the retooled figure is either going to have to have a completely differently tooled tank turret, or will forced to have the same weapons/accessories as Megatron due to the fact that his weapons combine as part of the transformation to form the actual tank cannon. Given the emphasis they've put on the weapon combining and all the weapons having names and such, I feel like it would be weird and kinda cheap for someone like Bludgeon to also be stuck with Megatron's sword and fusion cannon. Is there anyone they could really make accurately from the mold by doing that?

Also, I don't think we're going to get another Armada Megatron from G1 Megatron retool for one main reason: This line is supposed to be based on/around an associated storyline as Hasbro keeps saying, and we've already seen some evidence of this via the poster messages and how the fan poll worked. Because of that, it wouldn't make sense for the line to have two different Megatrons, as that would be confusing from a story continuity standpoint unless they were to make the other Megatron a completely separate character named something other than Megatron (Galvatron, Gigatron, SOMETHING). That's also why I doubt they'll retool Magnus into RiD Magnus, as that would be two Magnuses (Magnusi?) and they already made a big deal out of Magnus's alt mode and how it referenced/homaged RiD.

Though a Deluxe would be more appropriate size-wise, This new Voyager Megatron has the most ideal design from which to have a decent figure of Emirate Xaaron finally be made.

Well, Archforce would be a perfectly suitable possibility for the Megatron mold as just a straight-up redeco.
On the other hand, it's a 4-wave line, so he might not be retooled or redecoed into anybody at all.
