Either until Toy Fair NY or until TonTon uploads his review :D

ZeroWolf wrote:Also an important question, do you think you can mix and match the armour for um and Cybertron Prime?

The limbs seem to be the same but the slots on his chest to peg in the torso armor are closer to each other. So I guess you can only mix and match his limb armor.

Soon as I heard Scotty point out the leg guns were Cyb Op, I was sold this was coming.

To be honest, Its not what I want. Is it wrong I was hoping the armor trailer woulda been grey? Maybe as a sideways homage to the DORM trailer? Maybe it wouldnt look good in V mode, not sure how this is gonna go together, but I could dream.

It sorta looks like the Shoulder pad cab and gauntlets might go together, maybe they form a whole cab? Seems like an unneccesary stwp though given the mold.

On thr plus side, the boxier Prime might look better with the other CHUG figures.

Will wait to see the Vehicle modes before I say No, but this does not make me want to stash the Voyager Prime yet.

It's going to take a hell of a lot for this "tribute" to beat him. Good luck Hasbro, thanks for at least making the effort!

As someone who also owns the old one, I'm buying this because I want a version of the design with functioning hips.

Ah yes, that. The fault in the back-and-forth ratchets in the hips, the one blemish on that mold. I forget if it was a design flaw or a production flaw, but it's there. I know it was corrected on Hasbro's amusingly-named "Galaxy Force" redeco, but I don't know if that was the origin of the correction or if maybe it started with late-run batches of the original deco.

The altmode cab is on his chest underneath the Super Mode windows that cover it. The Super Mode shoulder pads and gauntlets are fake altmode kibble.

The cab halves on the shoulders are fake, yeah. But I think the gauntlets are real, given the functioning wheels. I think they attach to him as part of his equivalent to UM's bumper piece.

Cybertron Prime is widely considered to be one of the best Primes ever. It's my favorite non classic designed one. Hopefully there's a hand gun included with the toy as well.

I am not as excited as the rest of you. Unlike all the G1 stuff, this feels more like a different version rather than an update. Like Siege Magnus is clearly and update to G1 Magnus, but this just feels like a reused design that we have seen before. Don't know if that makes any sense. Reminds me of POTP Optimal Optimus in tha way, a mimic of another toy.

In a way, with how Ultra Magnus wears boots, gauntlets, and a whole body cover over his smaller inner body to get his proper look, he kinda reuses the way Fire Convoy/RiD 2001 Optimus wears boots, gauntlets, and a whole body cover over his own smaller inner body to become Super Fire Convoy/his Battle Mode.

Same, but definitely going to wait to get him on sale. I wish he had bigger hands, black "ears", and the left canon opened properly. At least they remembered to include a gun that could plug into the other canon.

Hehem. Sorry got a little excited there.

This seems to be going around here lately, must be the water.

I must be one of the few people that just doesn't see the appeal of Grandus. He looks like a clunky '50s tin robot. He'd be right at home fighting Gigantor.

Yeah, plus, that's like saying the bw figures need updating (I'm generalizing) but a lot them don't actually need a 'generations' style update, they hold up on their own, however, much like primal, I feel like this is more a love letter to fans who came on board much later, and are unable to access the old figures, they can now do so through some sort of vicariousness by obtaining this toy; It's not meant to be a replacement, or de-boot the old toy, this is just meant to be an accessible, fun, alternate take on a past figure, and I am 100% on board with this
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

If you have the figures, compare them with the Seibertron galleries. There are slight differences, but overall the splotches are in the same place and the same shapes.
I thought that's already been publicly known by now.
Wouldn't surprise me. I don't follow the threads that closely. It was new to me anyway. Also not surprising as it makes cost sense.
Yes, it's pretty obvious that they wouldn't make handpainted figures or even let machines paint them randomized. That'd be "way too much" extra production costs. :BANG_HEAD:
I guess I just assumed it was some pour soul with a toothbrush splatter painting all day

Might have been a possibility
I wonder how they did it on TLK Leader Megatron. I think his battle damage was a bit different on every figure. And Studio Series 07 Grimlock :-?

They may still have a machine that does it, it just sprays it on instead of printing, that would explain why the splatter looks a little bit different with each one.

Yea, it's pretty nice for newer fans to get the chance of getting him but with all those reissues now they could have just reissued him, too. Same goes for the BW figures. There are already two reissues of BM Flight Attack Optimus Primal. AND we are getting the MP BW figures. An MP Cybertron OP... :-?
But I already have a lot of the old BW figures so I'm curious what they would look like being designed nowadays. But at the same time I am worried because of current budget limitations :BANG_HEAD:. SIEGE Cybertron Leader OP is the best example therefore.

Here's a little collection of the new IDW design variations of Prime we got so far:

Image

Image
Image

The first one has the yellow lights on his waist/belt.

The second one the yellow arrows/triangles on the forearms which the new toy doesn't have and the white stripe beneath his chest.

Third one nochting special.

And the fourth one is the only one which has two pairs of head(lights) on his belly (besides the grill) like the toy but but on the toy they are not seperated by red plastic/color. Just indicated by the yellow color for the lights which none of the comic versions has.

That's the vibe I get, that this figure is just a fun one off. And while it does look cool and fun it doesn't spark any joy for me, and I'm OK with that. I'm always looking for reasons to not buy stuff. I am still excited to see the alt mode though. I guess somethings are just more fun to watch than do.

I've just been confused because you wrote about references we already got.

My mind got sparked because the Combat System and also the Micromasters are being identified probably as Minicons and confirm that they can combine into weapons, As well as Cog being homage to Armada Overload :MINI:

i also wanted an update on Armada Demolisher. he's a cool guy.

That's twice now you've said that. That's not true.

Uh, ok. I never cared for the TFCybertron version of Optimus Prime so this looks both hideous and laughable to me (especially cos his chest armour looks kinda like the cheap kids sunglasses I see often in pound shops and doesn't help that it doesn't mesh well with the chest underneath it at all). Always thought that head design was awful too. Maybe I gotta have nostalgia for TFCybertron to like this one, I dunno, but yeah it's probably one of the ugliest looking TF figures I've seen in a while, certainly the worst in Siege so far. I thought Magnus was overly chunky but at least it all looked consistent and fit well.
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

Yes! I am not alone! A Siege/WFC trilogy Demolishor would rock hardcore.

I love Cybertron OP but I'm absolutely on the same page as you when it comes to the SIEGE version of this character. You totally hit my thoughts about him.

Yes, same here. Either a new Armada or a WfC (game) Demolishor. Either of them would be awesome.
