GOOD

I love Omega! That is a proper, bulky, huge Omega!! I am super sad he does not turn into the Ark, but dang does he look good!! And I love how the rocket is all 1 piece, and it attaches to his back and extends/moves around to form arms. Genius rather than just splitting it down the center!

Mirage has a good looking upper body. And the alt mode is good, though it is a joke to say that is Cybertronian.

I like that Jetfire is all cartoon accurate for those who want him. But it is sad that you have to pay $80 to get that size of figure, though it looks good for what it supposed to be. I will pass on him and stick with my awesome Thrilling 30 Leader though. That is an easy decision.

Impactor really looks like he was designed to be Cybertron Defense Scattershot. So this means we got a dead ringer for Scattershot and evidence Hound can be Hot Shot. So we just need a Red Alert for the Trio! Yay!!

and now... Negatives

Mirage's legs are not that good looking. for some reason, they look really skinny, and then they have part of an F1 cockpit on the sides, it looks awkward. And the head isn't my favorite, definitely prefer the CW head. But overall, a fair effort.

Jetfire is Skyfire, and we'll leave that at that. That design was and remains so utterly boring. and the masked head has no antennae! That head looks so weird like that!

And finally, Impactor. I have to say, that right there is THE disappointment of the year. It all looks so wrong. The tank mode is absolutely WHACK. The robot mode is so boring, and that head is so hideous! It literally looks like someone took the Impactor design, ran it through a Floro Dery-ifier, didn't like it, tried to undo it, but then ran it through again, added some Pat Lee lines, and then made it a toy.

It. Is. Hideous.

That is NOT in the SLIGHTEST what I had hoped for for our first ever Impactor retail toy (that was not Fall of Cybertron). I am hoping so hard the toy looks infinitely better than this rubbish mockup.

Impactor and Mirage do look a little weird, especially when compared to the stellar deluxe from wave 1. Skyfire is a dream come true for fans, and I am happy with it too. Believe me, I was in the market for a T30 Jetfire when this showed up (may still get one if the price is right). Omega is purely amazing, and further proves this line is capable of having Cybertron retools with an Omega Sentinel figure. Not to mention all the rest.

All in all, this line has proven to be the best one we've had in a long time. :APPLAUSE:

Ok, with the box art for Hound having Cybertron Defense Hot Shot's head, I thought we'd just be getting him to go along with Leader Cybertron Prime. But since this seems so primed to be retooled into Cybertron Defense Scattorshot... who do we think is gonna be retooled into Cybertron Defense Red Alert? If not a character who's already been visually revealed, who of the confirmed or rumored characters would most likely work for that?

Who else is confirmed or rumored and not shown besides Springer?
I can only imagine Megatron right now. The transformation would fit and sizewise he's inbetween Cybertron Optimus and the other two Defense guys.

This particular line more imply that it is a whole deluxe figure that attach to him tho, which then can be dropped for "deployment" gimmick.

A new Doubledealer would be awesome but what about his beast mode regarding Defense Red Alert?

I could imagine :HASBRO: / :TAKARATOMY: making a box set with all three Defense characters.

ehh, i don't think hasbro will think that far, if they do retool him into red alert. The beast mode will still be there, and they will try to just justify that on the character bio on the box.

If the retool is a little more extensive than just "new head", I could see them kinda retooling the bird mode into a jet mode, and that'd be fine. This is all still more hypothetical than I'd like, though; there's no way Hasbro's gonna make two Cybertron Defense Force remakes and then not the third. I know Hasbro at times likes to leave teams unfinished for a fair while, but surely they wouldn't do it with a team of just 3.

You could always retool the bird mode into a jet, would be a cool way to differentiate the two molds

Well, I absolutely want it all. I'll start from the bottom and work my way up. Firstly, Mirage is a little broad in the torso for my tastes, but he still looks great (and I am in need of a Mirage). Impactor isn't perfect, with his hollowing and his odd head, but I don't mind the hollowing too much, since its likely just a sacrifice for making him a large deluxe. Omega, my god Omega is gorgeous. He is exactly what I wanted out of him and he makes me wish I had gotten Devastator when I had the chance (I guess he'll have to fight Predaking until we get a bigger Skylynx.) Last but certainly not least holy hell is that an awesome Jetfire. It is exactly what I wanted. I really hope he is bigger than the thrilling 30 one. That gimmick with him carrying deluxes sounds interesting. In my head I imagine handles dropping down from the bottom of his jet mode and having the Autobots hanging on, but it is probably more like pegs on the bottom where you can attack deluxes by their backs. I can't wait for this stuff (not sure where I'm going to get the money for Jetfire/Skyfire though.)

Last thing I wanna say about Impactor, who has been the focus of my attention (mostly because he's the only one in there I want and can afford): it look like his forearms can flip to expose 5mm ports to plug his harpoon into. This is something I'd want to see more on figures because it could allow them to plug in weapons directly into the arm, Japanese Targetmaster-style.

Is it just me, or does the new countdowns red chest bit look like a flip out peg. Also, I really love that they managed to work that hinge on Skyfire into the wing stripes. Looks much more natural than their previous attempts to do similar things (See almost any TFP Bumblebee). I'm also really happy this new size class exists, because it would be ideal for Skylynx.

$80 bucks for Skyfire.. Loooks great in Sunbow Cartoon mode.. but the other one..not so much. I think the Armor should have been red, and made to go on the calves/shins and forearms. Also the battlemask...doens't look great with out antennae. The chest.. like the color idea..but looks too bulky.

Yeah. I'm very curious to how tall this one will be for that price. VERY!

Well this was unexpected. Um, I guess I'll go in order:

Jetfire: Eh. I didn't say anything about the whole Commander Class thing before as I couldn't think of anyone I thought the class/pricepoint would fit that needed updating except for an incredibly unlikely IDW Fort Max, and as expected, what we got isn't something I'm interested in, especially for 80 bucks. There are thing I do like about it, namely his Weaponizer-ish accessories and the fact that his fingers appear to be somewhat articulated, but he's also everything I don't like about G1 Jetfire/Skyfire. Super blocky, plain looking, and turns into quite possibly the least aerodynamic plane I've ever seen. Pass.

Omega: Actually better than expected! There's less partsforming and his alt mode is more cohesive, which are my major complaints about G1 Omega. I also like that he comes with a small assortment of blast effects that can be used either for the linewide gimmick or sandwiched together to make a rocket "tail"/Omega laser. His face does look a bit weird though, and even though I am more on board with him now I probably won't be getting him due to college student budget/space, but I am curious to see more of him. Also, is that a 5 mm peg in Countdown's chest? Do we think he has a weapon mode and/or a way to combine onto Omega in his robot mode?

Impactor: Okay, this one appears to be the controversial one. Given that the stock photography for the SS Prime makes him look worse than he does in hand, I'm willing to bet Impactor will also look different in person, and I am more than happy to wait to get a better look at him. Also, credit where it's due, I don't think Impactor looks BAD here. Slightly off, maybe, but nowhere near bad. His color scheme is perfect, his harpoon hand appears to be optional/interchangeable which adds all sorts of options to him, he ISN'T an Ironhide retool like a bunch of people were worried about, and his tank mode looks like an absolute monster. I'm very happy with what we're seeing so far, and I still absolutely believe we could get a Demolishor retool out of him-

THE PLOT THICKENS!

Mirage: For a character I have no attachment to or real interest in, this figure actually looks surprisingly good. His chest is absolutely fake, but that appears to open him up to a more inventive transformation than just a G1 regurgitation, and I am all for it. I think the only thing I don't like about him is his head, the side vents need to be painted and the crest needs to be a bit taller for my IDW-based preferences. All in all, we'll see how he looks in hand, but I'm more happy with how the poll went now.

Weapon: Electro-Sword
So Jetfire is 11 inches. That is a very large figure. Bigger than Prime Wars leader class. This could be interesting. Wonder if it will be 1 figure per year as a Commander class, or maybe 2? Highly doubt more than that though.

The Thrilling 30 Leader Jetfire figure is about 9 inches tall, bottom of the feet to the top of the head (excluding the booster back on his back). Hasbro's product description of SIEGE Commander Class Jetfire says he is 11 inches tall, though I don't know if that's to his head or to the top of his booster pack, which sits up quite a bit higher. Either way, this new Jetfire will be my DEFINITIVE Jetfire for my Classics display shelves.

What exactly were you hoping he looked like? He looks pretty spot on, to me. The colors are right and in the right places. He's got his signature hook hand and a big over-the-shoulder cannon. His face does look a little meh, but it's not that far off the mark. His tank mode looks suitably brutish and devastating in battle.

On another note, the use (or apparent lack there of) of battle damage paint apps on these four reveals deserve some discussion. Omega and Mirage don't seem to have any, but this could be just because we're looking at computer renders right now and their damage decos haven't been finalized yet. Impactor seems to have some "paint wear/chipping" around the tank treads, a la Flywheels/Skytread. Looks fine to me. Jetfire is the most interesting, though. He seems to have more of a "dirt" effect going on, which we haven't seen much of yet. From his waist downward in robot mode, his white is "off white" due to some apparent fine brown speckling. It looks fantastic. I hope this carries over from the CG renders to the actual product, though. The way the dirt is applied, it makes it look like Jetfire is mainly in the skies and nigh untouchable as he shuttles around Autobots or takes down Decepticons on land or in the air. The dirt he does have is all down lower on his robot mode, implicating that maybe he kicks up a lot of dirt as he lands feet first on the ground. It's fun when the battle damage can actually tell a story like this. It's leaps and bounds better than the random splotches of silver applied to Optimus Prime and Megatron.
