I thought he was. The transformation differs at some steps and some parts are swapped out, but isn't that the definition of a retool?

What parts do you believe are the same between the two? I'm legitimately curious because I haven't found any and no one has suggested before that there were any. If anything, Siege Sideswipe and Prowl are more an example of convergent or analogous design than they are homologous designs (e.g., directly evolving from one or the other or a common, recent root). Nothing more extraordinary is going on beyond that they both transform into futuristic sedan-style cars. The original point is that Siege Optimus Prime and the inner white robot of Siege Ultra Magnus share no parts in common either and aren't retools of one another. All of the molding, sculpting, articulated parts and joints, etc., are unique from one another. They just both happen to be based on the same Earth truck design and the legs share some transformation engineering cues. Think of it this way: you wouldn't call Siege Optimus Prime a "retool" of G1 Optimus Prime, or of Combiner Wars Optimus Prime, or even Classics Optimus Prime, but they all transform into roughly the same vehicle in very familiar ways.

I don't own either Prowl or Sideswipe but, come on, even I can tell there isn't any retooling whatsoever. Its just they got a fairly classic transformation scheme for a car-bot. Say it with me at home, kids: "The hood become the chest, the rear become the legs!"

putting the weapon in the middle really helps to make his arm blends in more with the rest of the vehicle.

and i love how he can properly dual handled his weapon.

Ah so he is a sort of retool of kup. Seeing it up close that's definitely kup's front end. Looks good though. Definitely going to get him and prowl. I was happy with classics 2.0 prowl but he got sticky paint and I tried to fix but made it worse so a new prowl would be nice.

definitely not a retool of kup. Even the transformation is 100% different, there are no shared parts or engineering at all between the two.

The front end is exactly the same. TR PM Optimus used completely different parts from CW Magnus but was clearly built from the same mould, much like Galaxy mode Optimus is to current magnus.

And I really don't get the hangup on terminology people here have. Can I not buy it if I think it's a retool? Am I supposed to pay a different price? Does it mean I cannot provide feedback if I do not conform to some invisible doctrine on language? Am I supposed to pretend PotP didn't reuse parts either? Maybe people should get over it and move on.

;)^

On Prime? Yes the front end is the same. But Kup and Ironhide have nothing in common their ront ends. Kup has a big, hollow, angular wedge molded to have a singlw headlight on each side, and a big grill. Ironhide's is neither big, nor solid, nor angular. It has to wrap around what becomes his collarbone. Yes, having it hinged to the bumper is the same as Kup, but that is an engineering idea
and is about like sayinf Chevy is built from Ford because both truck have a hood attached at rhe back. TR Cheomedome used the same leg desugn as some of the CW Stunticons but he is in no way built from that mold. The whole toy is bigger. The other good example is Energon Starscream and Machine Wars/RID Smokejumper. Both turned into rough analogs of an RF22 Raptor and used almost identical transformations to do it, including having the arms become the vertical fins, the legs the side of the plane, and you even had to turn the front cockpit over 180* to get to the chest. But they are CLEARLY not the same mold based on detailing, and the fact that Smokejumper is Scout class sized while Screamer was a deluxe.

Kup and Ironhide ain't that.

Un fact, Kup has more in common with Siege Hound. No parts are shared, but both toys adopt the unfurling leg to side of car transformation scheme.

And sinxw you mentioned him, yes, Prime IS a retool of Magnus. They physically share identical parts

We talking about the same primes and magni? I thought someone was arguing that Siege Voyager Prime had the same head as the leader magnus inner bot head, which isn't the case.

Seems about right to me. So Omega Supreme can be a nemesis to his classic series rival (Devastator), or to his FoC rival (Trypticon) ;) .

So basically, when it is all said and done we will have

Two 18 inch Titans (Devastator & Predaking)
Two 20 inch Titans (Omega Supreme & Trypticon) &
Two 22 inch Titans.....(Metroplex & FortMax)
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

I got a few shipping notifications from Pulse that 2 of 4 of the wave 2 Deluxes have shipped. Odd that they are shipping individually. I ordered all 4 at the same time. For the wrong price of 9.99 I might add! WOOT WOOT!

Anyone else get a notification if you ordered from them?

Yes, I did too (at that awesome-sauce price as well). I have separate packages already shipping for 1 Chromia, 1 Ironhide, and 2 Sixguns. My 1 Prowl has not shipped yet, making me regret not snagging the one I saw at a Walmart this morning, and returning the Hasbro Pulse one whenever it makes it way here. I will already be returning one of the 2 Sixguns to Walmart as I found him last week and got impatient.

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Cyberpath, we have, courtesy of Takara Tomy Mall, stock images of most of Wave 3 figures, Voyager Class Springer, Deluxe Class Red Alert, Battle Master Smashdown, and Micromasters Blackjack and Hyperdrive! These new stock photos show the figures from all angles, and in the case of Springer, in all his altmodes. We can see that Springer has a good amount of battle damage paint applications, and that while Red Alert is a straight recolor of Sideswipe, that he has a very different deco and extensive paint applications to make him stand out against his mold-mate.

Still not interested in Springer, the T30 one is perfect for me, but I would still absolutely buy a Guidi Drift/Deadlock from this mold.

These pictures of Red Alert are missing red on his lightbar and arms, and I think he looks worse for it. His arms just being solid white doesn't look good, and the main reason I was interested in Red was because his color scheme was so much more varied than Sideswipe and it made the mold look better. I really hope this is going to end up being like Magnus's gun where the main Hasbro release isn't accurate to these Takara pictures, because otherwise that's a figure off the purchase list.

All 4 of my pre-ordered half-price deluxes shipped this morning. So did the Spy Patrol I ordered earlier this week. I should have them all in hand early next week.

I even ordered a Chromia, regardless of negativity from others. I have the T30 one along with T30 Arcee and Windblade, but I wanted a Siege one to go with TR Arcee and Windblade.

Though saying that out loud, that might be overkill.

Springer looks... Iffy to me. I like the figure's design and proportions, but the colors seem... Too play-doh like if that makes sense. Especially the green. Hopefully it looks better in hand

Springer's details (especially the flat chest) are not consistent with Siege line. Detail-wise it almost looks like a Deluxe rather than a Voyager class figure. I agree with the previous poster about the play-doh green color just look bad... (easy fix as I paint my figures).

I thought Hasbro can't top the Trilling 30 Springer ever in a main line so I thought I'd never have to get another Springer (except - MAYBE - Masterpiece) but this... this... while the engineering and quality still isn't anywhere close to the T30 mold, but damn... the G1 nostagia is calling me to get it.

Red Alert is a pass for me, not worth double dipping on the same mold.

I've noticed yet another difference between these "in hand" product shots from Takara Tomy and the Hasbro official renders we've seen earlier, when it comes to Red Alert, at least. These new pictures of Red Alert seem to be missing the "Fire Chief" Cybertronian writing on the side of the windowed dome and on the bottom of the chest/edge of the car mode hood.

On a side note... finally dragged out the T30 and Combiner wars (see following post for them).

I have to assume they’ll do Arcee... but I wonder which way they’ll go. The Titan’s version I think matches thr asctethic better... but that T30 G1 look....

Also wonder if they’ll keep the black highlights. Maybe it’s the Phantasy Star fan in me... but I like the pop
