I don't understand the "these are awesomely superior" sentiment when it's directly followed by "but I don't want to pay more than what the 'inferior' versions cost."

A few years ago, These Hasbro USA retail toys cost $10 to $12 not $30 to $50.
Don't see any harm in waiting for a clearance sale. speculating clearance sales will increase with imports sites having bigger ordering contracts.
