I'm not a fan of knock-off. I really HATE knock-off... that is, if they are only 1:1 copies of the original with no mods and tries to pass as the real thing.
Knock-offs that are severely modded over the original, including over-sizing or under-sizing, I'm all for it. Especially when the K.O "fix" a "problem" that the original had.
Best example is Combiners Wars Devastator. The original have voyager sized components that make a titan class giant robot. The scale match for the vehicles but the bots, especially the combiner, are way too big compared to their CW/PotP brethren.
That's why some years ago I sold my CW Devastator. Only recently I bought the under-sized K.O of CW Devastator. His name varies but you can find it easy on Ebay under "12 inch Devastator". And for 62.50$CAN shipped, it wasn't a high risk.
Well, damn! This set is GOOD. Shipped in a brown box with each components in bubble wrap. The vehicles are a bit undersized except Longhaul but I can safely classify them all as "deluxes". PotP Jazz for comparison.
They have that weird K.O
symbol on them so I reprolabels them proper
. Then, transforming to robot modes. The plastic feel the same as the original. Meaning that semi-soft feeling. And oh boy are the joints TIGHT. Some were too tight like Longhauls head that needed some prying to "break" it. Scavenger's legs were just impossible to transform. That peg slider had to be filed down in order for the thing to work. I ham-handed the leg at first and I broke the ankle joint. That joint needed to be super-glued in place. Not a big loss. The sliders now work perfectly.
The bot modes are fantastic and very stable. Some joints are too looses but they are very rare. The overall feel is tighter than a newlywed! However, the guns can only go to specific bots due to varying peg sizes. Select Nightbird as comparison.
Devastator combine solidly and he have very TIGHT joints all over. He's my most stable combiner of all. His joints are solid and can stay still in any poses. That's something compared to the regular CW combiners who all suffer from "ragdoll syndrome".
Compared to Defensor, he's a bit big:
Compared to my upgraded UW Bruticus, he's perfect.
Overall, this K.O is a must for any combiners fan who love to have a consistent scale.
