Indeed, if they were to point out the heart of the problems they would have pointed to the disdain over Megatron's & Starscream's designs. Of course, the reason why they probably didn't say much worse is because they possibly didn't want to loose business when they're criticized for being the only newspaper that bashes the highest grossing movie this year.....not saying that it will be, but if you look at it from that POV you can see why they were somewhat sparing with their criticisms.tile_mcgillus wrote:Amazing how they can sugarcoat the fanbase's reaction so seamlessly. Like the only major complaint we had was that Bumblebee isn't a Volkswagon Beetle...even though he hasn't been one in a long time due to Volkswagon's reluctance to allow their cars associated with violence. Nevermind the fact, he sold the license to GM and has all Autobots (sans Optimus) showcasing prominant GM cars (This is what Don Murphy said). I guess history is written by the winner or the guy with the most money. Reason number 4,500,565 why the media in America is the bane of my existence.
Oh and congrats Ryan.

Good job Ryan. Articles like this will keep Dreamworks on their toes even if it is a small effort. It is disappointing the journalist/editor didn't mention Megatron. It's seems to be problem with newspapers nowadays.

I didn't realize it was entirely Bay that did it: I thought it was Volkswagen who got all offended because of how Transformers series have always been about Autobots waring with Decepticons (or Maximals against Predacons as would have been the case during Beast Wars).
Maybe I've got it all wrong though. I don't claim to be the sharpest blade in the drawer over here.....

Great work on getting into USA Today though, Ryan, even if it is just two paragraphs.
I can tell you I'm one of the dullest BUTTER KNIVES in the drawer, but you're right about VW. The company that was born out of the German War Machine in the early 1900's doesn't want its vehicles used in conjunction with "war and violence" like in Transformers. That's why, though everyone ASSUMED BB and Cliffjumper (and their subsequent repaints) were VW Bugs, it was never actually said outright that they were.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

Yeah, it's interesting how a 15 to 25 minute interview was condensed into 1 line basically. LOL. Oh well! I thought it was a great article, despite disagreeing with a few of the statements from Mr. Bay.
Don't feel bad. It seems like the journalist had an agenda before he even began interviewing. He was simply fishing for the write words.

Cool stuff.
But what is all this talk about Bay and co. unveiling something tonight? something about... something from the movie... or something? I'm not clear on the details. The article doesn't mention anything about that, aside from the title, which has very little to do with what is actually in the article.

I gotta say that I agree with what they're saying about leaked images.
Granted, I would be pissed just seeing this movie without time to warm up to some of these designs.
But in alot of ways, these spoilers are like being a kid and sneaking peaks at the presents under a christmas tree. When the day comes, yeah you get the toy, but the thrill is gone.
It's why I never joined my siblings in said acts, and why I limit what movie posts I read and skip.

Hmm... I wish someone would mention the real reason why the fans resent the drastic changes to the characters. Superman's an alien too, but no one would get away with giving him green skin and four eyes to make him look more alien. So why does Bay think he could get away with it with the Transformers?
I hear what your saying and in alot of ways agree, I've in the past made the same arguement.
But here's the difference, he's SuperMAN, these are Transformers, alien machine lifeforms whose main ablity is that they can alter and change their forms.
I'm not saying you're wrong, I just saying the comparison is off.

Not exactly....it just depends on how far you want to stretch the idea of him being an alien yet still retaining enough quality to be considered "man".Liege Evilmus wrote:JazZeke wrote:Ooh! Name-dropping.

Personally, just thinking about this, I kinda find it funny where people tend to say "the clothes don't make the man" when explaining the changes....using the movie Wolverine as an example. Yes, apparently a costume change dosen't define him, but his hair style does.....
