The more product that doesn't sell, the more likely we'll see even MORE repaints, re-used molds, etc.

08 Bumblebee has been repainted four times now (Premium, Cliffjumper, Stealth Battle and evolution two pack) this being said its obvious Hasbro will repaint a figure if it sales good rather than bad. Also, Cybertron backstop was one of the few Cybertron toys to not get repainted even once, and we all know what a shelf-warmer he was.

This pretty much just goes along with what I said...
I understand that 4 repainted '08's might mean that it sold well, however, don't totally dismiss the idea that part of those decisions may have been based on the fact that other product DIDN'T sell, and so Hasbro figured, "Well, let's try and make up for these loses by throwing out more '08's.

Same kinda thing with Backstop-- just because they didn't repaint THAT figure doesn't mean others weren't repainted in an effort to take up that slack.

Hasbro repaints figures to make more cash without making a new toy. Did they make the cone heads and seekers back in G1 because Starscream didn’t sell good? If we use the movie as an example, we have allspark power coming up which is a line that consists mostly of repaints, but we all know the movie toys sold out every where. If your logic was correct, allspark power would be nothing but new molds rather than repaints.

Seekers from G1 isn't exactly a solid argument here...
Even though those were mostly the same molds, at least they were actual characters from the cartoon.

I don't think I ever said that repaints are coming out due to the lack of success of the movie line...
Obviously, there are Deluxe, Voyager, and Leader figures that have sold really really well.
But there's one thing--
the movie line isn't limited to these toys, and while I haven't seen Hasbro sales reports,
there are plenty of TF Movie toys that aren't selling out and "flying" off of shelves.
Real Gear, Cyber Slammers, Replicas, Target's Scout Class, and some of those that are truly for younger ages are all examples of said toys.
These toys can't be repainted, because it's truly not worth the risk.
And let's be realistic, not all of the original movie toys have sold out. I mean, we could list a hand full of deluxes that are peg warmers.

Let's face it, even if you like what's included with Allspark Power, almost the entire line (except for Landmine imo) is a Hasbro product line-stretching bunch of B.S.

A main purpose of repaints is to make up for lack-luster sales of other product.
Period.

Repainting is also a quick way of keeping up with unexpectadly high demand. I don't think they'd bother if they thought they wouldn't sell.

Incidently, while some deluxes did seem to be shelfwarmers, all the deluxes they had in the shops near me appear to have sold out over Christmas. All that's left is Cyber-Slammers, Transformers Tech, and 3 inch Titaniums.
