Ha! My first thought was, I Don't think Jack Kirby drew G1 for Marvel. :-?

It's more supposed to be a homage to "the inking work of Ian Akin and Brian Garvey and the limited-palette, not-always-entirely-inside-the-lines coloring of Nelson Yomtov". But I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby was an inspiration to those guys as well.
