What makes sky lynx such a great figure?

With the release of sky lynx a little over a month away I thought I would ask what makes this figure great. Also what is different about the reissue compared to the orignial g1 release other than the box.

Well to me, Sky Links was always cool cause he was different from all the other both, and diverse with several different bot mode possibilities.

The overall detail in the sculpt, with the motorized gimicks realy just take him to a stand alone level.

He is purely, unique!

As for the diffrences in the G1 version vs the Encore, well I can't tell you as I only have the G1 figure, but I stumbled on something that may help. Take a look...

I too question the greatness of Sky Lynx. I never had him as a kid and looking at it now, it still strikes me as half-assed (no offense guys). If it had a robot mode it would add some points but to me it just doesn't do any good.

I got him for Christmas one year. I almost never played with the motorized carrier, but the shuttle part almost always had a place in the battles that I would set up. When I look back at it now, I can't really see what held my interest with him. I think it kind of looked like a dinosaur to me, but that was so many years ago. Child + robot + dinosaur = win.

If I saw one at a flea market or for a really good price on evil bay, I might consider buying one. The retail price is just a little to high for me.

I can also appreciate Sky Lynx arrogance. He knows what's up.

I love it bec. it's a pretty faithful space shuttle replica, very likely the most accurate in all of TF'dom. I'd have to add the correct black paint apps to the belly and whatnot, if I could find one that's both decent and affordable.

I could do without the walking monster action, tho.

I always thought of Skylynx as one of my fav G1 figures. How many differences between the reissue and the original there will be I cant tell you.

But why the hell is Takara calling this release of Skylynx a "Encore" or Re-issue" in the first place is beyond me.

Well, simply put, I have him on Pre-Order. That fact alone, should make him the most desirable character ever!

Other than that. In the Marvel Comix run, Defensor and Bruticus are battling it out over(as in on top of) some kiddies, So SL pict up tha Earth chilin's to go cruisin' the Spaceways, and got them trapped in the Inter-Galactic-Plana-tary, Plana-tary-Inter-Galactic Zoo. So then Reborn OP AKA Powermaster Prime and crew have to work out a way to save him and them and now everybody's happy...except King Grimlock, the leader of the Earthbound Autobots who was chaisin' Blaster for dis-obediance and who was originally helping the kiddies hide from the great battle in the rail yard...

The uniqueness of his root robotic animal mode. The fact that he is motorized ,and one of the few that can walk and roll with batteries. In reference to his transporter - lynx bottom halve. His dinosaur bird - shuttle mode is also cool. I also like the fact that they both can combine together into a huge metal dragon. His toy is quite fun to play with. It has much playability due to the fact he walks and his transporter rolls. Also it's cool that Skylynx talks either through his dinosaur bird, lynx or combined dragon mode in the show. Also he has alot of air time in season 3. Where he makes his debut. It's cool that he always beats big bully Predaking too by outsmarting him everytime in a fight. He's a must have for anyone!

While the figure itself is, IMHO, about a 6.5 on a 1-10 scale (MP Prime being the only figure that i would give a 10), I shall love the figure to death, simply because Sky Lynx is one of my favorite characters. I would love to see him released in Classics2.0/Universe, with an all new-yet-G1-inspired mold. Make him Voyager-sized or larger. As for the re-release, I have no need of it as I already have an original MIB.

Sky Lynx was able to walk right through a sea of M.U.S.C.L.E.
warriors when I was a kid. That toy was just awesome.
Too bad the price of the Encore release will prevent the
kiddies of today from experiencing that joy.
