Only one problem, Battlestar Galactica took place in the present time not in the 25th cnetury.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Um... When they reached Earth it was 1980 both in the show and in actual time...
They were not advanced like they were in Buck Rogers.
It was present time.
*EDIT*
Galactica 1980
During the autumn of 1979, ABC executives met with Galactica's creator Glen A. Larson to consider a relaunch of the series. A suitable concept would be needed to draw viewers, and it was decided that the arrival of the Colonial Fleet at contemporary Earth would be the storyline

Geez...
Many old school fans don't want any part of Galactica 1980.Its like the way Lucas feels about the holiday special
That is the feeling on the BSG boards I attend.
Plus I felt that this should of been the way to do not Galctica 1980's horrible veiw of it

whether or not the fans like it or not it is canon and part of the official saga.
Lucas created Star wars so he has the authority to say what is canon and what he feels.
The fans did not create BSG so they theirs is only an "opinion".
Lucas created Jar Jar and no matter how much people loathe him, he is canon and part of the story.
Not a sheeple.

Most, if not all, of the contemporary relaunches of the Original BSG completley ignore 1980. As it should be.
1980 can pretty much be forgotten.
No wait! Never forgotten, but remembered as an example of what not to do.
There is also a hint at a third cross over in that film. They used music from "V"!

Re-read the posts thoroughly and you will see what I am saying.
The only "contemporary" relaunch is the current series on Sci Fi and that is a totally different show only based on the original series premise.
The 80 BSG was horrible, I never said it was not so if you go back and re-read it, my original point is this, regardless if anyone likes it or not the 80's show is when they arrived on Earth and is set in 1980.. Not 1995 or 2011 or 2495..
And when it boils down to it, I could give a crap that BSG fanboys hate the 80's show, I am simply stating a fact about the shows time line.
End of story.
The video was pretty cool though.

The Original Series Novels by Richard Hatch, the Comic series published in the late 90's from Maximum Press, and the current Comic series by Dynamite all ignore the exsistence of Galactica 1980.
Hell, in the Maximum Press series they found Earth during the age of the Dinosaurs!
The Original Series relaunch that Richard Hatch was pushing for would have ignored 1980.
It might be canon to you. But anyone associated with producing Official BSG product pretty much ignores it. It could even be said that there really is no "official" canon.

BSG: Armageddon - ISBN 0671011693
BSG: Warhawk - ISBN 0671011901
BSG: Resurrection - ISBN 0743413261
BSG: Rebellion - ISBN 0743445031
BSG: Paradis - ISBN 0743474414
BSG: Destiny - ISBN 0743486854
BSG: Redemption - ISBN 1596871199
These are the books by Richard Hatch. The ISBNs are for the hard covers but there are paperbacks availible and I believe they are still in print. If you can't get them at a Waldenbooks or Borders, try Half Price Books. The list is also the order for the series. Reading the information on the last book, Redemption, there should be one more in the series; however, due to legal battles over publishing rights it might never be seen.
BSG Comics This link will take you to the Battlestar Wiki's entry for the various comic series.
No hard feelings here. I just really dislike 1980.

Galactica 1980 only had one episode worth watching and that
was "The Return of Starbuck" but it's only good for Starbuck and a Cyclon banter.

To update the availibility of the last two books in the Richard Hatch series: Destiny is unavailible/out of print and can not be ordered through Waldenbooks or Borders.
Redemption is still available.
Granted these are just for the Hardback versions. The paperbacks should still be out there for order.
