I have two things to ask for, and didn't want to make separate threads.
First thing: Back in 2010, when I had a bunch of wild ambition but no skill, I chopped up the linkages in my Cybertron Snarl's Cyber Key gimmick as part of a plan to overhaul it so that the jaw opened independently of the fangs deploying. But because of the aforementioned lack of skill, I never did finish that up and now I want to undo the damage. Can someone take a photo of Snarl with his head opened so that I have a reference for reconstructing the works?
The second thing is, I've frequently toyed with the idea of repainting my Bumblebee Movie Soundwave - or as I call him, Special Edition Titans Return Soundwave because that's what he really is - into Soundblaster colors to fit with my conception of him as an upgrade body. What do people think of that?

While I can't deal with Snarl right now, I can offer some feedback on the Soundblaster concept. If you go through with it, he could be a powerful villainous presence towering over most other CHUG figures. The only problem I could see is whether the figure would still "fit" in your collection, since Siege Soundwave was released in both color schemes and his size is closer to Soundblaster's media appearances (if that matters to you). Whether Siege Soundblaster or the custom would do a better job could only be your call. A black and red makeover would certainly help BBM Soundwave stand out as his own cool and imposing decepticon, though!

As it happens, in my case repainting him into Soundblaster would improve the fit. My headcanon for reconciling the excessive size of TR Soundwave and the Spy Tablets is that they're upgrade bodies. Since Soundblaster is already an upgraded form, it would work better for me for this further upgrade to remain Soundblaster

No worries, this forum isn't very active anyway.
Sounds like you have a great way of fitting them into your collection, so I'd say go for it! Have you thought about tweaking the color scheme a little from Soundblaster's traditional look to further differentiate him?
Also, if it's still relevant, I popped my otherwise unmodded Snarl's head open and this is what it looks like:

Somebody else already covered me on Snarl in a different thread, but thanks anyway.
I was going to go for full-on traditional Soundblaster, including tinting the chest door red.

Ah well, glad you got help though!
About Soundblaster, how are you planning to tint the window? If the material you're using comes in blue, I might scrape some opaque paint off my AM Thundercracker and give him a proper see-through green cockpit.

Painting over the plastic with transparent watercolor paint and then clear-coating it.Latebrus-K wrote:Ah well, glad you got help though!

I don't think you'd have the same luck with Thundercracker though, because you'd be working with plastic that already has a color to it.

Oh, I was going to pretty much do that before going opaque green. Still, thanks for sharing
