Can you guys walk me through how to replicate the alt mode exploit, as well as what benefits there are? I'd like to get this exploit patched up, along with any other flaws that you guys are aware of. I appreciate any help regarding this matter. Thanks!

it provides no tactical game benefit (you just get the image you want).

when you reset a bot and select the alt mode it actually gives a unique url for that alt mode. Instead of using that url, change the number at the end to match the alt mode you want. Manually enter that url and you can have whichever alt you want.

note this only works if you have no current alt...you cannot switch it once you have an alt mode...you have to reset first.

I think I resolved the alt mode exploit. If it's not resolved or if it can be exploited other than on the reset page, please let me know. I did NOT reset alt modes for people who took advantage of this and left all existing alt modes as assigned for the time being.

HMW needs some love and is on my list of things to tackle this year. At a minimum, it will get a much needed face lift with the site redesign as well as an admin section to help out Burn and other HMW moderators.

The other alt mode thread is locked but I was wondering:

Why is Jack Hollow's Darth Howler a Hunter but Xenos Prime is a Monstrous Land Animal.

Same alt mode. But I would love to Avoid and get Strafe at a discount.

Most likely an older version of the alt.

It's possible at one point in the past that mode was classified differently and as long as he doesn't reset his version will keep the old attributes.

You'll find relics like that around occasionally.

It's likely an alt hunt relic, my team has a few of them. You could chose an alt class for your minion and then update the alt picture. Means you can have a ramming cassette or a strafing toaster, but they can never be reset as you'll lose the combination.

Worth noting that you don't get the tactics at any kind of discount, they still cost according to the alt type.

Is the alt hunt still possible now you aren't a mod anymore? Is Burn able to sort this if we were interested in renewing the exercise

Can I lie and say no?

I guess it comes down to how many need to be handed out. If I have to set the Transform Type (defines tactics) AND the Transform Image, that can take a long time, because those images are terribly named. (e.g. four called anti-aircraft tank .. I don't know which is which!)

But hey, if there's a database out there showing all the different transform types and images, that WILL help make things a LITTLE easier, but not much.

And no, I won't be adding any more staff members, it's not necessary.

So when you set them manually you can't just use the number codes from the alt threads you have to find them via file name? That sucks.
There is this if it helps.
Perhaps you can make it part of the requirement that anybody wanting a custom character has to do the work in finding the file name for you.

As I understand the process someone wanting to do this has to have a detailed bio for the character and SL a certain number of other characters using the form they want... Does that automatically make any mode not usable by the enemy (except corner cases where the mode had already been stolen previously) & modes on that list but no longer used in the game completely unobtainable?

For example if someone wanted a Quint head off the list I provided, or even just a mode exclusive to their own side but with a different classification, is there some crazy extra process to obtain it or are they just SOL ?

Without being able to test it, using the correct alt name/number it *should* be possible (from memory) now we know they exist.

For example, the sharkticon alt with Ram instead should be possible by mixing truck class with the sharkticon image file, as long as we have it's real name.

So there is a real world case:

If Overwatch wants Image how does he get it if the other side doesn't have any to kill?

And to complicate the issue even further, if he wanted a sharkticon in the image data base but not in the game like Image is there a process to obtain it?
