Hey! best tip is to enter battle as often as possible. It's the only way you'll get XP, which you need to upgrade your stats.
Your first upgrades should be Speed and Courage. Strength too is important at the lower levels. Intelligence has very little use in the game, except to gain access to special tactics for a couple of alt modes. Rank too is of very slight importance at the lower levels: don't invest your hard earned XP until you are at about level 3-4.
As far as alt modes are concerned: at the lower levels Avoid is pretty good, and I've always prefered alt's with Strafe.
P.s. I sent you a little gift of some energon.

There's nothing to download, it's browser based.

Sorry to bump this dead thread, but had a quick question about your explanation. Do I not spend any of my XP until I have enough to get to level 3, or do you mean don't spend any until I have enough XP for 3 skill points?

Re: New to game
Hi John,
What he is saying is don't spend your xp on rank until at least level 3 or 4. Early on it seems the best 2 upgrades are speed and strength. As for tactics, avoid, ram, and repair tend to be better early. I don't know if many people play at level 0, but once you reach level 1 you should find some competition. Of course, that will take about a week if you check every few hours to throw bots in missions...maybe 4-5 days if you are playing constantly!
Welcome to HMW!!

Thanks a lot for the explanation man! I played HMW back in 2004, but I was 14 back then, so basically I was rubbish at the game hahaha.
Is there anyway to read the mission log? I want to know how much damage my guy is doing and how often he misses and attacks. I click on details for my mission/arena history but keep receiving a message stating that HMW is down, even though I can join missions....

On the bottom left of your character page are the 5 most recent missions. I don't think the history was ever implemented.

There are some 1-11 missions, so it won't be long!! Ready to die in 1 hit with a fusion cannon? Of course if you can get a single hit in you can double your xp with it.

Yooooo thanks for the info, I'll definitely give it a shot. As long as I get 1-2 hits off I'd be satisfied. I wish we could challenge people to team battles, it would be hilarious for someone to plow through 6 lower levels with a fusion cannon.

9/10 you'll end up with 0 or something close to it, but that 1/10 times when you hit a level 11 you'll get big points (20k or more). These big points come from either ramming a high level opponent or repairing a high level teammate, which generally makes having 1 of these 2 tactics key for these missions. Just hitting with a weapon won't do much damage because the top bots have awesome armor which protects against weapon damage.

Is there a thread to post on or someone to PM about joining the Autobot group?

Unfortunately, not anymore. The Autobot group thing hasn't been active for years now.
Everything Sprockitz told you is right on. Don't get discouraged if you die or gain very little XP more than you get large XP payouts.

I could give him an XP boost.
It's not like any others around is level would give a toss (and if they did, I could just boost them too)

I'd greatly appreciate that if you did! So far it's either 3 Autobots v 1 Decepticon and 0 Decepticons for my missions. Not a lot of tough competition but gives me time to see how all the skills work.

I agree, it's really slow going, needing 18,000xp for 1 upgrade and getting 100 to 200 XP an mission makes it a long haul for just one upgrade let alone a a level

Alright Stamoist, I've boosted your top 5. I would have done six, but you know ... I actually felt like deleting your sixth character.
In fact I still might if you don't change the name of it. Honestly, go and read the damn rules.

Thank you, much appreciated it! Yeah sorry about that, used the name as a placeholder until I could think of something clever yet appropriate. I'll change it right now, thanks again for XP boost!
