Disappointment in the Bumblebee Masterpiece Movie toy
Disappointment in the Bumblebee Masterpiece Movie toy

Ok I notice a few things that in my point of view will hinder me from wanting to purchase this Masterpiece of imperfection.
1: the Chest should be able to transform in a similar fashion like the movie counterpart, I can see them getting away with the whole flip down thing in the regular toy line up..still bothers me... but in a so called Masterpiece Movie toy, thats 80.00 and is electronic??? What were they thinking??
2: the whole canon arm with the red boba fett missle sticking out his arm is a complete turn off.. if I wanted a one armed bumble bee I will buy the smaller version from the rgular line, but not in a masterpiece.
3: this is another problem i have seen, i can't tell if the battle helmet comes down or not..and I haven't seen a bumblebee with a battle helmet that slides down yet, you'd think they would place that in the masterpiece toy!!!I personally like Bumblebee with the battle mask on, versus off, he looks very ugly with it off, probably similar to prefering prime with a metal mask versus an actual moving mouth...dumb idea..
Overall, this action figure severly lacks anything remotely resembling in my view the title name of "Masterpiece" and should be left on the shelf or revised before final production..other wise, HASBRO KEEP it!! It's nice in other respects, the tires, the legs, but not very close to what I was to expect..it's just a large one armed version of your normal line Bumblebee figure, with electronics added.. its not nearly as intricate or as kibbly like the movie counterpart, and in effect not a Masterpiece at all..
What ar ya'lls thoughts on this figure?

The chest piece looks as if it breaks down further than what we saw. Also, it isn't a 'Masterpiece' figure and none of the promotional materials have claimed it to be. The Masterpiece figures are a Takara line intended for adult collectors and designed primarily for display. The 'Ultimate class' movie figure is full of gimmicks and meant to be played with.

Wether its called masterpiece or ultimate, its still not very good...and the other masterpiece toys from takara are meant to be played with hence them being toys (albeit expensive) and not statues..it's still a piece of junk in my view, and as far as the chest breaking open or down into something more, i really don't see it..

Maybe because it's not a Masterpiece figure? It's called Ultimate because of the size and animatronics.

You know this maserpiece figure just proves to me that Movie Bumblebee can't actully transform. They made G1 Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream work in Masterpiece but they can't make Movie Bumblebee work? Why can't they make him work? Because he's too freaking complicated to ever really work.
I highly doubt they would ever be able to produce a toy that transforms in a way that is 100% accurate to the movie figures. Too many moving parts that would require tiny motors that just arnt there on the movie figures. That is assuming that the movie CG doesnt fudge any of the transformations and from the way they look I dont think they do.
I like Ultimate Bumblebee. I'd probably leave the batteries out and let him just stand there.

We haven't seen it from many different angles and Hasbro is well known for not fully Transfomring their figures. For what reasons, I can't really say. But until we see a more analitical breakdown of this figures transformation I don't think anyone can make the assumption that it doesn't have a more movie based chest like appearence.
2: the whole canon arm with the red boba fett missle sticking out his arm is a complete turn off.. if I wanted a one armed bumble bee I will buy the smaller version from the rgular line, but not in a masterpiece.
Again, no one has seen or heard that his cannon is permanently affixed to his arm. I'm sure we'll see something in a few weeks, but if I were to fancy a guess it's either a well hidden hand or a removeable arm piece. As for the missle, just don't put it in. That's what I did with Classics H-rod and it makes it look a world of better.
I totally agree with you, I don't much care for Bumblebees "face" as were, and I would fully expect them to include a faceplate for him. I don't see anywhere on the head for the battle mask so flip over, but I could be wrong. If there is one thing that it needs indefinitely is a battle mask. the boney face thing is kinda scary.
Overall, this action figure severly lacks anything remotely resembling in my view the title name of "Masterpiece" and should be left on the shelf or revised before final production..other wise, HASBRO KEEP it!! In no way, shape or form, is this a Masterpiece figure. There are miles between the Hasbro Ulitimate line and the Takara Masterpiece line. While of course, they are all toys the MP line over in Japan isn't ment as a toy as it is a display piece for collectors. Statues and Bust sell just as well, if not better then actual toys over there, and the MP line is a perfect blend of display figure and play figures. Ultimate Bumblebee is the 80 equivalent (and I use the term very loosely) of Fort Max. A huge over priced chunk of plastic expected to sell very well but ends up falling short of that goal. Except this time they made is electronic, and not nearly as cool.

What reason do you have to bag out the movie seriously have you seen it NO. All you have seen is preview os snipits and seriously if you can't understand WHY bay went with the idea of "no i dont want to look like the old 1980's cartoon characters" then your obviously childish brat who can't get his way or someone very very stubborn and stupid in not understanding the reason why he didn't want to go with the original pictures. So many people have seen the preview and love it why can't you?. An if ya hate it keep it to your self cause im sick to death of hearing lil voices here saying ohh i don't like it ohh it looks gay ohh its not the originals so how can it be transformers FOR CRYING OUT LOWD ITS TEH TRANSFORMERS MOVIE THEY COME FROM CYBERTRON THEY COME TO EARTH AND FIGHT SAME STORYLINE SAME CONCEPT THE FREAKING END. So stop your crying and if your over 10 years of age act your age stop behaving like a 6 year old and im assuming your over 18 so act like a man and stop being so freaking childish.

From the photos it looks like he is completely made of plastic. I agree $90 is a lot of money for a toy. I'm sure that Hasbro is hoping this toy will appeal to collectors and children with rich parents.
Personally, I am not interested in Ultimate Bumble Bee because the gimmicks seem to outweigh the transformation. I'll stick with the Takara Master Piece line.

If you're so upset with people expressing on a semi-public forum that they don't share your opinion of the film that you absolutely must post a response, the very least you could do is make it coherent.

Second if its not coherent its cause im sick to death of cry baby brats of men who are over the age of 18 crying "whaa whaaa its not what optimus prime looks like in the orginal cartton show whaaa whaaaa" cause that's what it looks like bunch of 6 year olds who whinge cause they changed the appearnance of prime big deal they do it in every cartoon series, they also did it from the comic book teh crow to the live action movie the crow but did people complain NO. So act your age and stop crying cause they dont look like car style robots, they're obviously not meant to and thats how michael bay and steven speilberg wanted it alrigth so shut up and act yoru age for all those fans out there who are acting like a 6 year old when there in their 20's and older then any age that has a single digit in it. GROW UP AND STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD.
