Question about Ironhide movie figures eyes

I was just looking over my Ironhide and i noticed that he has the clear blue plastic in his head so that his eyes "glow" when a light shines ont it. I put it under a lampand no glow. I found out the eyes on my figure are painted over so they dont glow. Is this the same with all the Ironhides or is mine flawed? From the looks of it the paint is black.

Actually, I posted a thread about this the other night. It's not paint, it's a different head mold. You, me, and Ryan have the same Ironhide. It's solid black plastic for the face, with a piece of lightpiping installed, but it's useless.
The face with lightpiping is actually molded different, slightly.

I think you're wrong Autobot032. I think they are in fact painted over fow some strange reason. Taking a very close look at mine the light piping is in fact there but it can't be seen because the eyes are painted over. If you hold it up to a light and put your hand over the top to block the residule light you can see a very faint glow.
You can also tell because if it were a solid peice the eyes would fit better in the face. You can clearly see around the edges that the eyes don't fit the face perfectly.
What I can't figure out yet is how to disassemble the head to fix the problem. looks like it is glued together or something as there is no obvious screw holding it together.

Actually, a poster over at TFans has the same mold as I have and he used alcohol to remove the paint, then sanded it a bit, and found out that it was indeed black plastic molded as the face, with lightpiping plastic behind it.
I too double checked, I shined a light into the face, behind the head, used an LED light, a flashlight, and it is all one piece of solid plastic.
As I said, not all are like that, hence...VARIANT.

I dont think you'll be able to fix this very easily. Why not just exchange it?

Its hard to tell on mine if its painted or is platic. When i shine a light behind it i can see light shineing threw gaps but that could mean that the plastic cover is attached to one part of the head or that the eyes are painted over. I think its paint because its to shiny to be the same platic as the head. I still find it weird that they would put the light piping in and then just paint over or put a plastic part over it. Now i wounder if all the Ironhides are like this.

Why, they did the same thing with Classics Bumble Bee and Cliffjumper. The head has light piping in the eyes, but they didn't bother putting the light piping into the back of the head.

Cliffjumpers weirder still because if you take the head apart, they used a peice of transparent plastic and painted the eyes only. But i don't think thye meant to do light piping on those two. I think the design was simply to make the eyes easier to paint. Unlike Classic Starscreams eyes which are terrible looking.
Movie Ironhide though is very clearly an error since the light piping is there and then painted over.

My BB is mint in box and i never played with my cliff jumper so i didnt notice. I just got him because he looked better than BB and i like Cliffjumper. But thats only one other mold with the same defect. I still find it odd.
