A sequel to Hollywood blockbuster TRANSFORMERS is in the works, according to director MICHAEL BAY.

The movie - which stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, has already grossed $220 million (£110 million) since its release earlier this month (Jul07) and Bay is desperate to oversee the follow up.

He says, "We want to start working on a sequel right now, so we'll see."

Im glad that he wants to start now... But he needs to take his time to try to make TF2 the best it can be.

agreed. i just want it to get here so bad soo i say work on it now! but make sure the story is good and there are no gaps or mysteries left unanswered like this one. (barricade)

well hopefully when he says "right now" he means like working on the script and stuff, not the filming,(to steal megan's line) "that would be crazy"

i hope he is in the second one and he just retreated at the end of the first one so he could stay alive.

Yeah, they mean the pre-production work, it will probably be about 2 years before the sequel hits theaters. I agree that they need to take their time just like they did with the first one.

I wouldn't panic because of this news. Just because it wants to get it started now, doesn't mean he will be able to.

Besides, with all of the work involved, it wouldn't hurt to get the ball rolling now, gets some of the important labor out of the way so they can focus on the film itself more.

And don't worry, his wanting to start the project now, doesn't mean he'll rush the film or get a chance to.

One of the writers for Transformers hinted that what happened to Barricade was "robots in disguise"....so theres your hint.

Two theories here........

1. Barricade saved his own ass by hiding and maybe taking a different vehicle mode.

2. Barricade is an autobot spy who had to keep up the appearance for 90% of the movie to convince the decepticons and Frenzy mostly... Maybe Prowl??? Makes sense, Prime said a new discovery lead them to Earth..... and a spy would be a perfect way to find out where the decepticons were headed.

Well they got their CG characters all done except for whoever they are putting into the next one. You never know... they could already have some of them fully 3D modeled already.

I was hoping that they would get some one else to direct this one so we can see who does a better job. I swear if all the Decepticons have no screen time and all get killed within 10 minutes im done with the movies. This time around LISTEN TO US FANS!

That would be the worst possible thing that could be done. The fans themselves cant come to a consensus on what to put in the movie. No fan involvement is the best involvment.

How many different directors should be given a chance then? Should they have a different director for every movie just to make sure who would make the best one? I don't think it's feasible to do something like this, especially since "better" is a subjective term.

I loved the first movie, but I have concerns over sequels, how are they going to top that?

But, I will have faith... unlike this time, where i thought it was going to blow and blow hard, and I was wrong.
