I dont think they did, it wasn't metallic enough.

I think it was meant to be one of Saturn's moons, (from the book adaptation) but since they never really showed the planet, it could be anywhere really...

Yeah, in the book it said the place was in our solar system, one of the other planets, or its moons. The Nemesis supposedly crashed there.

I think it may be Mars, since the Viking Mars rover was attacked by a Decepticon, as explained in the first film...

In the establishing shot you can actually see Saturn in the background. I missed it the first time round but spotted it the on my second viewing.

yep i sore it two! It is definitely Saturn in the background, meaning that it is almost certainly one of the moons!

After seeing it for myself, I agree, it is on Saturn's moon. I saw the planet in the background as well. They wouldn't show it otherwise.

2 of my buddies I saw it with mentioned something about that too.. I guess since the Fallen was there they asumed it was cybertron. The Fallen had a real Alien queen type thing going on there didn't he? I mean the "Hatchlings" and him being all laid back like he was layin eggs.. Eeerily simular..Least I thought so :-B
