Review posted in other thread... Claims that there ARE rubber tires. So there's that.

First Peaugh review I've watched in months... but I'm glad I did. The transformation alone almost makes me want to grab this fella. I just wouldn't know what to do with him. I might be ok with him standing with my MP's, the sharper sculpting kinda gives him an "aged war forged leader" look. And after having another look at my MP10, he does actually have sharper sculpting than the others who came after him.
Still torn, but leaning pretty hard towards a thumbs up...

This could be the alternate universe "Optimus never came back to life" version of Rodimus Prime.

I gotta say, I was split on this. But after that review, I'm pretty much sold. I really like how they managed to make the entire Winnebago out of the figure, instead of just Hot Rod with a trailer added. Yeah, he looks smaller in vehicle mode, but the vehicle looks sharp. If I get him, I could display him with the Classics in vehicle mode and the MPs in robot mode. And you know what, I think the Targetmaster is pretty damn cool. Curious about the final price.

He is indeed good, no doubt, but I've been getting my most recent 3rd party info from a Facebook group called Third-party Unlimited. Nice people, good discussions, no having to scour all over Facebook, I just wait and let it roll into the group.
Back on topic, I want Carry, I feel like I *need* him in my collection, but he's just too out of place. I already have Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy and I like that he has four modes, which he pulls off pretty well, even if he isn't perfect, so Carry really has no use in that part of my collection. He's too big for CHUG and seems like he would tower over Galvatron (UT's Mania King), so he won't work there either. He's kinda in a class and look all his own.
His price is pretty prohibitive, too. It's a real shame they didn't make him in a larger Voyager Class, I'd have bought him then and completely replaced the set FP put out for Hasbro's Classics Hot Rod. (Don't get me wrong, I love the armor and how the trailer deploys into a cannon, plus the little Roller guy.)
DX9's put out some great stuff and this one seems to be no exception, he's just out of place and out of luck, I just can't imagine a lot of people will buy him to make him fit in either collection. However, he does look ruggedly built and seems to have solid plastic, which makes him seem more like a toy for playing and not so much a collector's item.
NOTE: Realize that I am not a perfect Christian, nor do I profess to be. I apologize if anyone's ever offended by me, I'm not perfect. Don't hold my posts and opinions against other Christians.

I'm starting to agree with most on the fact that Carry is in a class by himself. Not really MP, not really CHUG, he's in a mix of all worlds. I'm hoping he will look good with my Energon Galvatron, now if I could just find some articulated hands for Galvatron..

Based on Nas' reviews, I might take the plunge. I unfortunately missed MP-09......heck, seems like TT ha sno love for MP-09 as no re-issue has ever been announced.
Btw, the design is most accurate to the Studio OX designs, angular and 80s bad@ss.........

Haven't they ditched that scale? I thought everything pre-MP10 was something different then what they're doing now.
It's why I haven't even looked to track down an MP9, I don't need one towering over the rest of my stuff...
I'd love an MP10 scale version of Hot Rod/Rodimus like MP09 did... This one is just a little too Rodimus and not enough Hot Rod for me

I am with you on the scale in alt mode issue, not a fan of that at all. But we all knew it was coming when DX9 was showing him next to MP10 in bot mode and Faith Leader in alt mode.
As for one look being better than the other, totally a: "Beauty is in the eye of beer holder (beholder)" I think DX9's is a cool, update to the rodimus prime character.
I also like the MP9 sculpt as well it is very faithful to the cartoon model and it converts from the Hot Rod Look to the Rodimus Prime look.
I know a lot of folks were gaga over the all in one transformation which is quite a nifty bit of engineering on DX9s part. But it's leaves out the battle station, and is not faithful to the toy.
I guess it all comes down to what it always comes down to...which one fits your sensibilities? I like them both but I already have Hot/Rodimus so I am good...but I would totally love to put this guy in my collection if I could get him cheap
I am very suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I totally trust a dog that doesn't like a person...

Gotta say, I like the way the shoulder wheels are hidden better on the Right one.
However, I like the general size and bulkiness of the left. It looks like an awesome comparison of Rodimus Prime and Hot Rod.
I wish the cartoon had made some more physical differences like this... I've NEVER been able to tell a difference between Hot Rod and Rodimus >.<

If you're into the MTMTE comic, do you think the robot mode of this figure is a good representative of the character?

Poo. I thought I had updated what my thoughts were on this figure... Man, I'm outta the loop on things.
I caved. I spent the dough (sold off my MP-09 to fund it) and it's overwhelmingly good. His transformation is balanced between enough steps to be satisfying and not too many that it stops being easy, it's literally just right in the middle and it's fantastic.
He's a shellformer, no doubt, but the shell compacts down so tightly, you'd never imagine he had a Winnebago strapped to his back. It's insane how they got it to hide so well.
Ball jointed neck, universal joints for the shoulders (with ratchets!), bicep swivel, elbow, wrist swivel, articulated forefingers (the other three are one solid piece), waist swivel, universal joints for the hips (with ratchets!), thigh swivel, knee, full articulation ankles (even forward and backward movement!)
You can get him into some killer poses, but his Targetmaster not so much. He's okay in robot mode, nice in weapon mode, but his handle is too short and doesn't fit Carry's hand well enough. It just barely rests in there.
He was WELL worth the money paid. Can't get over how good he is.
As for the comic representation? I don't know.

I actually cancelled my pre-order in favor of Tyrant after seeing them together. I still want him, but I want Galvatron more (I do have TRU MP Rodimus).Rodimus Prime wrote:If you're into the MTMTE comic, do you think the robot mode of this figure is a good representative of the character?
To answer your question though, I don't think he represents IDW Rodimus well. I think he's more G1 TF Headmasters Rodimus Prime than anything.

After seeing it in person at TFcon this past weekend, I have slightly more informed opinions. Only slightly though, didn't actually handle it.
My slightly more informed opinion is: this is not a Masterpiece styled figure, but it is a really cool looking take on Rodimus Prime. I'll probably pass on it, but through no fault of the figure.
