Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Toyline Thread

I plan on getting both versions of Ravage. I had preordered Jaguar already thinking that Bullhorn was a different character than what he actually is as I was too lazy to just look it up at the time. I then thought about cancelling but didn't as Bullhorn and Terri-Bull each look unique enough to be different characters anyway. Then I decided to still pick up Ravage and make him Nightstalker so that Blaster had some more buddies.
I can't wait until I ship out my stack that has Legends Blurr in it. I really like TR Blurr as it is but the colors on Legends Blurr are amazing. The order is going to be Takara's Blurr, Galavatron, Scourge, Computron, Wheelie with Goshooter and Weirdwolf. It's going to be a good day when that box shows up.
I also haven't had any major problems so far with any TR heads. Blurr's and both of my Scourge's head crests stay up pretty well and require a bit of force to move back down. Granted, the force needed isn't much but it takes more than gravity or a breeze to knock them down. Also the head connectors on those three, Galvatron, Sentinel and Legends Skull are all fine on mine. The two Scourge do have a slight wobble due to the construction of the parts but I could probably eliminate that if I try to glue that piece in place instead of just letting it "float" in the chest as it does normally. It's just not enough of a wobble for me to even bother doing anything to try and "fix" them and one of the two really doesn't even have anything wrong with it. When I first got them they were both slightly worse though but all I did was switch the heads and things were better. They both did have wrists that were more loose than I liked so I tightened those up. Oh and Skull's hips were slightly loose too. None of the looseness was anything major and I only tightened them up because I could.

New Images of Takara Transformers Legends Weirdwolf, Blaster, Wheelie, Rewind and Fortress Maximus
- Motto: "'till All Are One"
Robot Kingdom has posted some new in package images for the following upcoming of Takara Transformers Legends releases: Weirdwolf, Blaster, Wheelie, Rewind and Fortress Maximus
Like the rest of the line, the Katakana uses the old Japanese name for these toys while the name in latin letters is the name the character is known as in the west. The best example is Blaster who is called Braodcast in Katakana with the english name being Blaster. Another interesting point is how Takara still beleives in the oldschool idea of packaging at least some of their releases in alt mode, like Blaster in his "Device Deck" mode (can't be a tape deck if it doesnt use tapes).
Whch of the following will you be getting? Let us know in the comments!

Just curious, but why for Blaster in Katakana, why did they use the "ya" in the third to last symbol rather than the "a" one? It comes out to burodokiyasuto instead of burodokiasuto.

I dont know if better, but most definitely good in their own right. And to me this is the best. I got really pissed off last year with the RID line comparing Takara's products where I really felt jipped to see how much Takara cared about bringing out some cool details and making them collecting worthy while Hasbro didnt seem to give two shits. but with the TR line, along with some CW toys this year, hasbro really upped their game in terms of making their toys just as collecting worthy, with precise referencing and detail. I love their trend this year of using tampographs to bring back sticker detail. Its really cool on legends groove for instance and its to die for on CW Trailbreaker. The only weak one I found so far was Blurr but for all the rest of Titans Return, hasbro has been giving us some great stuff and I really dont feel I have an inferior product in the least.
PS: I would have liked all the Hasbro smartphones to have the tape background, the tech stats on Rumble and Ravage seem a bit off.

The differences in some of these offerings and the Hasbro versions don't look quite as drastic as they did with some of the previous Takara releases like Blurr and Scourge. In the case of Fort Max, it may just come down to whether you want a Fortress or a Cerebros for the head.

That's just how the English word "broadcast" is spelled in Katakana. "Burōdokyasuto"william-james88 wrote:Just curious, but why for Blaster in Katakana, why did they use the "ya" in the third to last symbol rather than the "a" one? It comes out to burodokiyasuto instead of burodokiasuto.
Some words just use the キャ "kya" character instead of the カ "ka" character to approximate the "ka"/"ca" sound of foreign words. Another Transformers example that does this would be how the name of the Headmaster Junior "Cancer" is rendered as キャンサー "Kyansā".

It just hit me that the name of Weirdwolf's Partner Drone, the Apeface redeco, is the word "gorilla" with its Katakana spelled backwards: "Rarigo" (or "Llarigo", if you wish to keep to the English spelling of the word "gorilla").

What, does it play MMOs or something? It's pretty common for Japanese MMO players to reorder the katakana in their real names to make their player names.

I have to say that I think Takara Wheelie looks miles better than Hasbro. As much better as Takara Blur to Hasbro. And I wish BBTS would get him in so I can ship my loot, I'm jonesing for my fix lol. Got Astrotrain, Mindwipe and then Wheelie coming.

So since Walgreens has been difficult to track down for me, I've been considering getting LG-39 Brainstorm instead.
His mouthplate in MTMTE is removeable - and I would be getting him for MTMTE; I don't really care about how much it looks like the original toy or Headmasters - so this could work for me. Plus if I eventually get Walgreens/SDCC Brainstorm it could be fun to ocassionally swap out his normal head for his faceplateless one. And the black used sort of makes him look like he jumped out a comic page.
Only problem is the price... especially when I'm trying to decide on another relatively high-priced investment (MP Road Rage, currently on sale for £35)

LG32 Chromedome really appeals to me. The legs look much better than on the Hasbro one color-wise.

Dunno if I could get LG Blurr though even though I want it OH SO BAD!

Little too much brown for my tastes; nearing Hasbro blue-rr levels. Or kinda looks like he's wearing a brown set of dungarees.

The Chromedome I know has brown jeans with red underwear on top and he's wearing big, blocky, tan shoes. A silly but unique look that I absolutely love.

Re: Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Thread
For the remaining original Headmaster characters I think Takara's Mindwipe is a clear winner over Hasbro. They actually made use of the legs/wings colour-changing engineering trick.
But for Chromedome, Highbrow and Brainstorm I prefer Takara's bodies with, I think, Hasbro's heads.
CD & HB heads are consistent enough between both companies in way of having either a mouth or a plate. But not Brainstorm.
Takara's Brainstorm's head is actually pretty Rebirth-y aside for the mouth. So I think I'm going to try to give him a 3D print plate that tabs into these two slots.
Unless someone wants to come up with a cheap "upgrade kit" featuring Rebirth-accurate faces.
