Most people that get mad at you are just jealous that you have something they want and they can't get, and hate and jealousy are worse than putting something up for sale that is not a life sustaining thing for sale on the open market, besides, you are not making anyone buy it. Just MO

I think most people who get mad at scalpers do so because scalpers take advantage of a free market economy to make money for themselves while adding no value to that economy and making goods more expensive for end consumers to obtain. Far fewer people would be willing to bid over outlandish scalper prices if they were not concerned about scalpers buying up every toy at the store.
Scalping concert tickets and the like is illegal. Those laws are extremely difficult to enforce, as would be laws against scalping toys or other things. Many activities have always existed inside the law which their practitioners can smile and call "free enterprise." These people aren't criminals, merely parasites.
On TFW, a thread exists of fans helping fans get this toy at cost + shipping. Here, we have a confessed "entrepreneur" chastising members for criticizing his parasitism. If his behavior is considered acceptable, it becomes against all our interests to post accurate information on finding Starscream in our respective locations, since people like him rather than our common fanbase will be the beneficiaries.

Oh well i would love to get a MP Starscream, but looks like i'll just see if i can get some of my other TFs i want to collect as eBay Mp Starscreams will cost arm, a leg and helluva lot of money.

I finaly found one at the Super Walmart in Irvington, Nebraska. Two were left after I was there, but I picked up the one that didn't have a paint smudge on the face.

Personally, I am not mad at him.
I am just calling him a scalper.
He is the one taking offense to being known as a scalper.
If you can't realize you fit the definition of scalper to the T then you are one blind bat.

Only reason why you buy a lot, is because you know you will make a profit. You are indeed a scalper my friend. Hey, I scalp too sometimes when my wallet is empty. Nothing wrong with scalping! Dunno why you get emotional.

Yah, relax. Just accept that you are a scalper. It's ok. If you were ebaying from the goodness of your heart, the buy it now would have been cost. Starting the auction at cost just ensures you take no loss. I don't care if you scalp or not. To each his own. However, don't insult everyone's intelligence with stupid reasoning that you start the auction at cost and let the market take care of the rest. That is not the point. The point is, that buy buying more than 1 or 2 for yourself, you are enabling the system wherein other people in your area will not be able to buy a figure due to your sending them off to ebay. Hence they need to go to ebay and help drive up prices there. So on and so forth.
And I don't care if it is TFs or breakin Carebears, it is still scalping if you buy at retail only to resell for a profit.
As I said, I don't personally care if you do it, it is part of the game we play. I scalped my extra Botcon stuff, as a lot of us did here. I could justify it saying I could not have afforded my own Botcon stuff without reselling some extras. Does it make those who could not get it feel any better? I doubt it.
However, I would not insult them by telling them that it is the market, and not me, because there were plenty of people here who gave their bagged sets at cost to those who could not go.
P.S. And like it or not, you got to have your presious movie collection for almost free, while some poor schmuck either paid triple or drove around for 2 months without beiing able to find one. You screwed over your fellow collectors for a buck. I agree, it is free enterprise. Too bad everyone doesn't win.
Oh, and if you do not understand the point I am trying to get across, feel free to take offense.

Oh, and if you do not understand the point I am trying to get across, feel free to take offense.
I've taken the liberty to exemplify the main points in this discussion to which I feel are important statements of the reality of the situation.. buying more then 3, which I consider a limit..before you cross over into the scalper realm..
the fact that many people were sorely pissed off and highly frustrated during the whole 08 Bumblebee fiasco, and many "Scalpers" were selling off huge lots of them on eBay, and not just to US citizens but to overseas buyers who paid a buttload of cash to get them.. just shows how uncaring and evil your statements of using the Bumblebee to purchase most of your movie collection really is!! it's just plain evil..wrong, and doesn't make you very popular with others in the fandom...
Why do you bragg about something like that?? Are you mental?
Now, I don't see any harm in someone buying extra Starscreams from Wal-Mart, but leaving a few for others, and then placing them on eBay at cost and at Buy it now!!
Bonger is correct in that he knows that just placing them up for auction is exactly doing what a scalper would do, and that is maximize profit, while starting the auction at cost to maintain that you don't loose out on your inital purchase.. and with the fact that your on Message boards such as this, you know full well that Starscream Masterpiece from Wal-Mart will sell for more then the suggested retail price, and that your gain will be very large.. it's called insider trading which in the world of finance is illegal..
But bottom line, had you maybe sold a few off at cost on auction, and the rest on Buy it now.. I would have considered your efforts as a great way to help others, whilst making a small profit on the side... but you had to go and ruin it by stating loud and proud your utilizing the 08 Bumblebee for your own gains in such a way that really burns at my soul.. using the insider info you get from the boards then buying huge amounts of Bumblebee's during the shortage only added to the problems.. and for a long time there were and still are millions of those 08 Bumblbees online in various eBay auctions and at stores online.. hardly any are in retail.. which is Just sad.. that one figure is a perfect example of overly scalping a certain figure from people who aren't fans but come to this board or other boards to get the inside scalper scoop!!..
I for one am now very cautious of giving advice as to what new figure is the hottest buy on this message board, because of people like you, who will come in and say, "oh I'm new to the fandom, which figure is the best so far? which one is worth the most?" and they are never heard from again... I'm now boycotting those questions because I'm NOT gonna help a scalper go to the store buy up all the stock and ripp off those same fans he/she came to the site to chat up with to farm for info..
Bottom line, In my opinion, you are a Scalper!!! and you screwed possibly some of your friends in the process of purchasing your movie collection through your online Bumblebee gig... I'm not trying to be harsh, but the fact is, you stated it yourself!!!
P.s.
To my fellow Board members and fans, please don't help the Scalpers!! be kind to new members, but watch out for those questions related to a hot figure, because most of the time those same scaplers aren't fans, show up for a bit, get the info they need, buy up lots of local stock and stick it to people online because they know now what's the hot ticket!!
I am not a supporter of that in any way shape or form..
there's a fine line between being helpful to others and pure profiteering.. and the Bumblebee 08 deluxe toy is a pure example of what a huge amount of hype and scalping has done to the fandom.. look at your local stores, and then look online, there are bazillions of Bumblbee's forsale oeBay and other sites, which aren't moving on stock because of over pricing or that fact that the markets online got saturated by those scalpers who decided to give it ago on the Transformers front because of the movie..
I wouldn't be surprised to see alot of new people just browsing the borads, occasiuonally asking questions related to "potentials" as I like to call them so that they can rush out and buy them up to resell them online to us, or anyone else that they can make a profit from..
Just becareful.. it's sad I know... I like being friendly to newcomers, but in the back of my mind from now on... because of the Bumblebee 08 fiasco, I will forever wonder if your a scalper pumping me for information...
Terrorism comes in many forms..it's sad that from now on I will forever be cautious around newer fans.. but it's the scalpers who have made it that way...
sheesh, you can't ever leave your "fandom" unlocked these days!!

you guys are so funny, using the term "screwed over" and calling me a terrorist.
(Beacuse I can hold a gun to your head and make you buy it) The amount of crybabys on this board are staggering. "If I don't get my way" or "I want that toy but can't find it" Go cry me a **** river. You try getting up at 0500 EVERY morning on your way to work and stop at both Wally Worlds, make friends with all the Team Leaders and you will probably get the same results I do.
I take offense to nothing on this board because it is probably a bunch of Teenagers on here with nothing better to do.
And for the record folks, it's not a damn 08 Camaro Bumblebee. It's a 2010. Production starts in Feb 2009 and the vehicle sales will be sold as a 2010.
So if you don't mind, I'm off to rape and pillage my Wal-Maart in the hops of "screwing over" all you collectors that assume that the world revolves around you getting your toy and Hasbro deliberratly making them inferrior to your judgements

Actually it's a Concept Camaro - because, as you said, it's not in production yet....

Don't even start on Camaros with me pal, I own 3 and have been an avid Camaro enthusist for over 20 years. And since the Concept HAS been approved for production, it's no longer a Concept. Check out CamaroZ28.com

I don't think it was approved when they made the movie though? Bay said they saw it in Skunk Works didn't he?
So it was a concept camaro, and now is the 2010 - let's call it a draw.

SO....
has anyone else actually sited one of these in the outlier areas? Like Oregon, Vermont, Maine, New York, or Florida? I just want two now, one for play/display/fiddling with and one for MISB...
The prices are tumbling on ebay now anyway, so I'm not checking local Mall*Warts every day now..
