No Death for Prowl wrote:Is anybody else really puzzled why anybody would go through the typical Black Friday fiasco to land these Cybertron 2 packs? If you're a parent looking for gifts, then I can understand the cluelessness, though why you decide to pick Black Friday to shop is beyond me, espcially since I doubt any child out there is clamoring for Cybertron Downshift or Galaxy Force Prime.
If you're a Transformers collector, though, is saving a few bucks on these figures really worth the trouble of getting up and fighting for what comes out to be about $15-20 in savings? If you really want some of these Cybertron figures and you don't mind paying $5 or $6 more than original retail price, none of them are all that hard to find.
Now if it was Masterpiece Starscream we were talking about.....that's different, but these 2 packs? $10 for both is a good deal, granted, but come on, are they really worth it?

Sorry to hear this, but could you just explain the "Black Friday" concept to us Brits (& the rest), I don't quite get why you could only purchase that then...

We asked if they could open up a box and the employee just stared at us and shook his head "no".
My question is, why the heck then do employees bring BF items out and why does it seem that not all store employees are on the same page?
Because WalMart does not actually pay them enough to care, or take pride in, their job.
1. the deparment gets a list of what items as black friday items.....
2. they come on a trailer litterally completely filled with crap....
3.the unloaders just see that it's a "toys" item and stack it on the pallet for toys...
4. when the pallet cant fit anymore stuff on it it is wrapped and brrought to the deparment it goes to
5. in the morning the associetes start working the pallet and if the BF stuff is on it then they leave it on the pallet and after they are done they bring it to the back and then it's put on a seperate pallet for black friday...
i hate people liek you guys that think just cause you shop there you know EVERYTHING about what we do when we work there.... heck you think just cause the employee is walking through thte department and say "sorry i dont work in this department" you get all snotty... you know if we are hired to work in electronics they dont train us to work in the toy department..... so next time you think you know what you are talking about just keep it to yourself.... *end rant
*
The unloaders are supposed to take ANYTHING that says blitz on the item and put it on a seperate pallet. No Blitz goes out on the floor.

Bluesummers wrote:Damn me, for wanting an extra hour of sleep. I took off at 4:30 a.m., and arrived at Wally's at 5:00. The last bunch of 2-packs were snagged by some scalping SOB. Seriously, he had like 6 of them. I left that place pissed...
Went to another Wally down the road, no 2-packs on the shelves. However, on my way out, I found both Excellion/TC Downshift/Cannonball left aside somewhere!Unfortunately, the packaging on Downshift/Cannonball was all bent on the corner.
Oh well, I wanted TC more, anyway. I thought I'd leave the banged up one for some kid/collector who will open it anyway.
Target isn't even worth mentioning. They had jack.
I then headed to TRU. The GF Primes had all been sold approximately...an HOUR ago, according to an employee. And of course, the TF shelves were wiped like a chalkboard. Down the line, however, I got this butt-load of Star Wars goodness:
Saga Legends:
Darth Vader (no suit)
Boba Fett
Darktrooper
Basics:
Darth Revan
Darth Malak
Pre-Cyborg Grievous
Overall, it wasn't a dissapointing round. I was expecting some Ironhide/Autobot Ratchet, but it's become apparent that those are comepletely out, and I'll have to ePay for them. Valuable lessons learned! Also, what's this about Dollar General getting GF Prime on Monday? Is that a for sure thing? If so, how much?

Found a few more MPSS's at Wal-Mart today around 4:30
TheStarScreamer wrote:They may have been pulled off the shelf, but they were definitely out on the shelf. I know I saw them a few weeks ago, because the Thundercracker was tempting, but I didn't want the other guy. Plus there was no price for them.
If I had known, I would have picked them up for fellow collectors. Man, whenever I am waiting for something I actually WANT to come out, I never see it early, but when I am not in the know I miss a golden opportunity. I didn't go out today, so I don't know if my Walmart got more in or not. If not, I bet some people were ticked.

Family Dollar, bro. Go to all your Family Dollars nearby. You should be able to find Cybertron Galaxy Force Prime & Cybertron Metroplex there for $20 each. They will not be in the toy section. They will be on top of the shelves, in a completely random location in the store. Expect to spend around 30 minutes wandering the store, carefully looking at the top of every shelf in the entire store.
The current, most likely, running theory is that they are leftover stock that Hasbro was in possession of. When Classics and the Movie toys hit the shelves, these guys became "obsolete" figures, and were shipped off to second-hand stores like Family Dollars who have them for half price of big retail chains like Wal-Mart, TRU, or Target had them for.

Wait, so they're there now? I went to my local Family Dollar, and they only had the small Universe figs. I'll have to check more soon...

they've been there for a while now. if you aren't seeing them now, then someone beat you to it.
i think its funny how the GF-OPs have been shelfwarming at FD for a while, then all of a sudden toys r us puts them on sale for the exact same price and they get snatched of the shelves in no time!
