I mean, when it comes to transformers, the glass used on them doesn't seem to be as frail as real glass. An could take a hit from a without their glass breaking. It took Megatron several hits to actually crack the glass on Prime's windshield in the G1 movie, let alone break it. I know that's Prime & Megatron, but other characters in every continuity usually never have their glass broken, and if they do, it's usually a battle to the death, or at the very least, near-death.
Following that logic, it doesn't seem a transformer would be damaged having a weapon close to the head. They wouldn't have their hearing processors damaged, they wouldn't gain any joint damage (at least in-universe, real toys do.), they wouldn't usually be shunted back by the blast, and I couldn't really think of any other repercussions from using a shoulder cannon.
But as I say this, I'm talking about a toy-line that revolves around the paint aps and molding making the characters beaten to all hades, so...
