Haha, Cary! He's hard to resist, then I see the price again and I'm like "I'm good" as I have no where to put him. $500+, for me at least, would be reserved for G1 stuff, which I still wouldn't buy. I've realized there's not that much enjoyment in these things for me.

That's just me though, and I'm glad that people ARE backing it and I can't wait to see THEIR pictures/videos of him!

The detachable head and swappable face is kinda nice, but not something I'd ever use.

But I can kinda see how a setup would go. There's two CHUG ghost Starscreams and a few Scourges you could use to have a small display while Unicron's body is in planet mode.

But it isn't something that moves the needle for me. That said I backed it a few weeks ago.

Posted to the official Transformers page on Instagram today is a short video showing Global Design Manager John Warden giving everyone the opportunity to ask their Unicron questions to be answered next week. Removable head and swappable face are nice and all, but (really hate to be that guy) what about a, well, swappable beard? I mean, everyone wants the beard, right?

This is one of the reasons why I’m hesitant on this. To me, Unicron must have a beard, it’s one of the signature things about him.

Well maybe a 3rd Party can produce an Add On piece or maybe a special type of pen with the proper ink that simply goes on and wipes off for one's own preference...I'm just sayin'.

We won't know proper backing numbers till all the third party sites submit their numbers to hasbro. The figure we have is just those backing on pulse.

This while a nice feature to mimic the end of the 1986 movie but why couldn't Hasbro have taken the Armada Unicron and retooled into this version that does all this AND can form a COMPLETELY round planet mode

I'd rather have a new mold than start with the Armada base, but I agree that I'd rather it be smaller and cheaper. Unicron can never scale anyways, so having him be even Titan class doesn't really matter that much to me, I'd take a figure the same size as the Armada one with some major updates. It would also be more fun to compare them afterwards too, and he might still scale nicely with Primus in Cybertron mode. Not to mention, this guy literally can't fit on any shelf I have, I want him but at the same time I don't because of just how huge he is. I guess I'm just not in the target audience..

If Unicron's head is detachable, has anyone wondered if they have a more accurate G1 cartoon head tooled up with a proper goatee and smaller horns? Seeing the head detaches just makes me want an alternate head that is more cartoon accurate, perhaps one with an interchangeable eye feature so that you can replicate the shattered eyes from the end of the movie.
