Hmm, I think I may be alone here.

I think they are neat little figures, but the Alt mode is unconvincing, looks like a block of robot kibble held together with a big plate. Even one of their heads is visible. I prefer the look of the TFClub version, and the size. With scout class Rumble and Frenzy coming out, I do not want my reflector to be smaller than Rumble!

I think they ruined it with those colors. They should have been all-black. The camera should look like a real camera, not a child's toy camera.

Very nice. Is that painted or CG coloring?

From the gear, they're equipped to outfit a sniper, a gunslinger, and a heavy artillery. The neat thing is that they can interchange these roles freely.

I'm really starting to relate with how Kup must feel most days...

Allrighty now, first off the thing ain't supposed to be all black, it was meant to pay tribute to the cartoon and comic versions but without being a straight up, total rip-off of the original. It's got similar color and designs but not identical and it has far better articulation and accessories.
It looks like a block of robot kibble because it's SUPPOSED to look like a block of robot kibble. Having the head stick up on the one unit is exactly how the original was done since back in the old days we actually had big "clicker" type buttons on a lot of our electronics.
If they were shooting for a very accurate rendition of the old school Reflector with just a few minor modifications/improvements over the original, I'd say they nailed it.
I'd sooner have these guys over the Frenzy/Rumble upcoming releases. They could have found something relevant to todays youth to turn those two into to keep their sizes at least somewhat close to their original tv/comic book incarnations instead of going over the top and making them both huge tanks.

I dunno, the color scheme has me underwhelmed. I'm sure they were going for cartoon/comic accuracy, but that light-grey, almost-white color puts me off just as much as when Hasbro uses it. I'm interested in the mold, but for that price I'm not satisfied with the color scheme.

Easy fix. Get the Perfect effect Frenzy and Rumble. They are the proper scale if you are shooting for size. They go great with deluxe Soundwave and classics Ravage. The upcoming scout size rumble and frenzy look like crap anyways.

If you follow the link to the Perfect Effects blog, then go back a few posts, they have the unpainted prototype sitting next to a couple of Deluxe figures in their vehicle modes and even have one of the figures in robot mode standing next to one of their Shadow Warriors.

I've got mine pre-ordered, although I think I would've liked perhaps a darker purple and perhaps battleship gray where it is white, otherwise, this team will be major cool.

Now to build up my funds for FansProject's Not-Insecticons.

Most of us are there with you, but toys like these will always be for us. The Beast Wars/Anime generation will have their time to deal with noobs - it's the cycle of generation gap.

In terms of price; it's practically a perspective of affordability and demand to each collector; almost like Peaugh's review on United Tracks. Are a couple staged pictures enough to warrant a preorder purchase - you know, buying without a review? It's up to the ones shelling out the cheddah.

I've said this before, I know, but it deserves reiteration... It took work to get the original Reflector. I bought the toy that came with the flyer for the mail-in with money saved - my first memory of saving. I cut the points from the box. I filled in the flyer info. I sealed the envelope, licked the stamp, and put the flag up on the mailbox. I waited for it, opened him up, and had a blast with him because I earned it. Those are some priceless memories, and this captures those moments. More-so than just a repaint of a toy that doesn't even pay homage to a microscope. Perfect Effect's timing in being the first to market with the combiner, perfect size for limited shelf space, and within my current price range make up a perfect storm of awesomesauce for this old man child. I hope Perfect Effect packs in a mail-in flyer as a nod to us grizzled vets. As is, this set is pure joy, and I thank PE for this effort.

I like the camera/cannon bunker that can be made. That's pretty rad.

Nice set. Thought the purple was a bit harsh at first, but not a deal breaker.

Love the look of the toy is is coming along nicely. However I do not like Perfect Effect's size, the plastic, nor the price they charge. I tried out the PE-01 that went with Shadow commander and I don't know if I gave it away or threw away because it never worked right. These figures need a comparison shot to other figures for me to really go out and get it.

I do not like the look of the Perfect Effect Frenzy and Rumble, they don't really transform into anything, just do contortions. If they had become cassettes you could fit into Soundwave's chest sure. I have a similar complaint about the Hasbro moulds, the 'generic tank X' alt mode seems like a cop out, especially since they went with a tape alt mode for Universe 2.0 Ravage. But ultimately the Hasbro version will be the cheapest option, and will allow me to afford the awesome looking TFClub Reflector.

Why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?

Anyways, I do agree, the white light-gray should be replaced with a darker gray for better accuracy. Plus I think that the darker gray would look better on these guys.

Overall, I'm impressed with this set. The paint apps are well done--despite the choice of gray--and the improved articulation coupled with the camera mode's accessories functioning in the show-accurate robot modes makes for an awesome updated Reflector. I'm glad I preordered it on Robot Kingdom.
