That's my thinking - I'm hoping (foolishly optmistic?) that such a finish will be reflected in a sensible price for him and any others who follow. I would LOVE some G1 toys but cannot afford to go for originals right now.

I believe this has more to do either with appealing to metal fans, or with structural integrity that plastic would otherwise compromise. Besides, metal pieces are solid, something unheard of for plastic pieces.

Depends. I once transformed a vintage Gobots, the submarine one, and the metal bar snapped in two like glass.
