If the quality is anything like the previous exclusive release, that price is a hard pill to swallow. For sure.
I got the Exc. on sale for I think around $50 or $60, and while I love it and am happy to have it, the quality is not great.

Yeah, if those stock photos are of the actual product and not just placeholders, then we may very well be looking at another round of the previous BBTS-exclusive Piranacon reissue giftset from 2010, which had suffered from notable mold degradation by that release.

One can tell that the images are of the 2010 reissue based on how Overbite's dark purple is replaced with hot pink, Snaptrap's robot head is teal instead of black, and Piranacon's sword is painted silver chrome.

The mold is so much degraded. Only got them for the sake of owning one. The limb bots especially, Tentakill. The torso struts had lots of these extra sprues poking out.

Have it preordered but will probably cancel based on feedback. Will make a decision after I watch a few review videos.

Anyway, got my 2 G1 bumblebees delivered today. The cards aren't totally mint but sufficient.

That Piranacon is odd indeed...
I bought that 2010 one from BBTS on deep clearance. It was ok. Really makes me wonder about this new one.

Not trying to rub it in, but just tonight I stumbled on all the G1 Reissues at one of my local Walmarts. Good to know they're still enough out there to be shelved!

As much as I wholeheartedly encourage fans to get these re-issues so as to encourage Hb/Takara to release more, why back in 2010 didn't Hb/Takara fix the master molds?

I got mine full priced back then.

They chromed the sword (excellent)
They pre applied the decals ( so so..... okay)
They forgot to paint Turtler/Snaptrap face black (arrgh)
There are many mold parts that have sprues hanging all over (especially the limb bots)
Piranhacon's head (the inner part has all these ugly sprues)

It felt like a cash grab back then.

I hope like maybe Hb would fix the issues ( fyi, Takara too is not guiltless, their Encore Bruticus mold had a lot of flashed/burned like parts on Onslaught, Swindle and Brawl. Blastoff was that degrade too much).

So these are the issues you might encounter again unless the set had been fixed.

This is the most intriguing part for me. The original BBTS exclusive was far from G1 accurate in color so if this version really is in the correct colors then I might be inclined to get it. But I'm going to maintain my doubt based on the photos.

Thanks for the feedback. I was not aware of the 2010 reissue. I was only aware of BW II God Neptune and the TFCC purple one (that IIRC neither version contained the 6th member-Nautilator)

I guess one tell tail sign if this is just a reissue, or something totally new is if the box is the "MP Style" with all the Seacons already combined in a window box. But honestly I'm hoping it's more reminiscent of the original TF series Giftsets (as in the case of the new Devastator)...Also perhaps it's a *gauge* of sorts to see if there would be enough interets to warrant a future NEW Piranacon using the CW/PotP system. One can only hope.

Also I guess BBTS claim that this is the first time all 6 Seacons will be reissued in their "original G1 colors" is either an attempt to correct the 2010 version, or is blatant false advertising...

I'm also thinking this is just the same as the prior reissue. Perhaps BBTS found an additional box somewhere, similar to the additional stock of SOC Voltron they had listed earlier in the week. While not definitive, I found the listing for what appears to be the original reissue, and it's basically 99% the same as this new preorder. I would think if it's different, BBTS would have made that painfully clear.

its already false since the stock photos dont show the original colours either.

Also, that reminds me how misleading that difficulty scale was. This is not a 4, more like a 1 or 2

Thanks for the photo, it completes my quick/short research I had to go back and do on the 2010 version I missed. I think they handicapped (no pun intended), that difficulty scale for kids, not adults. I mean when I was 12 and this originally came out, Snaptrap was pretty much the only *new* thing, since we had already figured out how scramble combiners worked. But for a kids, say 6-8 years old, that had never seen this before, it may provide a moderate challenge... I don't know... just random thoughts.

So, with the re-issues coming out, what does everyone think will be the first thing to get broken or lost?
1 - Bumblebee's head hinge
2 - Outback's arms
3 - Hook's legs
4 - Starscream's landing gear

My hook stood the test of time well in my youth, but 1, 2 and 4 definitely happened to me as a kid, and I wasn't very rough with them either.

Minor correction. The originl head wasn't painted black, but molded black. For whatever reason, the reissue had its head changed from being on the toy's black plastic sprue to being on its teal plastic sprue.

We have BWII God Neptune to blame. That change found its way into the TFCC release unnoticed, and later the 2010 reissue.

I managed to not lose my landing gears because it fits nicely inside the cockpit for storage. The G1 part that always broke the easiest for me was was the end of the Seeker Jet laser "missile". Not really an issue with Hasbro's reissues, though.

I'm 7 days out from my "Delayed" email about Starscream (my second attempt). I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle!! I really don't feel like shelling out the $90+ shipping for the Takara Collection release, but dang it I'll do it!! I'LL DO IT I TELLS YA!!

In other news, that Seacon set has always been tempting. I love me some late 80s G1 colors.
