Walmart Starscream SCALPED!!!!!
Posted by Autobot032 Sat Sep 29, 2007 1:39 am
I called the Meadville PA Wal-Mart, shopped earlier at the Greenville PA Wal-Mart and just got back from the Hermitage PA Wal-Mart.
"Item Not Found", "Not On File" and my personal favorite "Exist? No" and they showed me the screens of the Telzones at the two stores I went to.
It's not on record, it's not on the Fall reset Planogram, and it's not even in the corporate computers. Nothing about a street date, nothing about a price, what the item is, nothing.
I checked with Hermitage twice. (once a couple of weeks ago)
We're sure Wal-Mart is the distributer, but we're unsure as to when it's due (TransFormers.com says September, Action-H-Q says mid-October, BotCon's display said November) so we're all up the creek without a paddle right now.
All signs so far, point to it looking like it might be a Wal-Mart.com exclusive. (it has to be if none of the physical stores have it on record...)

$59.99 according to the tag at BotCon.
With Wal-Mart pricing, probably something like $59.67 or something.

Well I hate to be a jerk too but you are wrong.
It won't show up in the local stores computer until they receive it. If it's sitting in the back and hasn't been received yet, it's not in the computers.
If you want better information give the 800 number a call, at least they can tell you what stores with in so many miles of you have any or have any on order.

Uh huh...then explain to me why the UPC isn't on file with the home office then. (Two people checked at Hermitage)
The home office would definitely have some record of it's existence, if nothing else.
Look, I want it to be Wal-Mart, more than you realize. But until I see it, I won't believe it.
EDIT: Just called the 800 number (thank you for that tip btw), went through all the paces, etc. The woman said "Are you sure that's the right UPC number on the package?" I told her that it was and she said "Well, I'm sorry. I don't know what to tell you, but it's not showing up in our computers at all. That's not sayin' we won't carry it, just not at this time. Give me your phone number and I will send this query to the local store's management team. They can check their stockroom and computers for you and see if they have the item. Other than that, I can't help you. According to this, it's not in any of our stores and it's not online. Sorry I couldn't be more help." I said thank you, etc and we both hung up.
So now...I'm not sure what to do. Hmm.

There is no item with that UPC code, nor is there an item called Masterpice Starscream in the entire Wal-Mart system.
Highly unlikely, if not impossible, that someone bought a MP Starscream at any Wal-Mart, ANYWHERE. She searched the company wide database, not just the store database. She did say, that if it's a walmart.com exclusive, it won't show up in the retail database.

You could try speaking with the Store Manager directly.

Bigdaddymcqueen wrote:ok, firsty, maybe the UPC is wrong or something, my friend is going to get it for me on monday. secondly, when you check the system( walmarts, managers or not) there is no super secret office or system to check. you can only check whats in your district! thats it!thats as far as ANY store can go!! as for the home office, i'll get the UPC from my friend and update when i can!. BDM
So you, and everyone else knows, the UPC is not wrong.
I got it from a picture of the actual box.
http://preview.tinyurl.com/2q4g2f NOTE: Underneath the UPC box, it says clearly Masterpiece Starscream
So the code is correct.
I and another poster called the 800 number and got the "Not on file" (and they're at the home office, using the master computers).
Wal-Mart doesn't have him, and they're not going to for a while it seems. It might even become a WM.com exclusive from what we can tell..(the stores don't even have a record of it!)
Plus Loki had his sister in law check their system. Nada.
It's Wal-Mart, not us, not the UPC.
EDIT: One thing I can think of that would avoid the Planogram (which shows no trace of Masterpiece Starscream) would be that he'll be on a pallet display with the DVD (when it's released) or those G.I.Joe, Star Wars, TransFormers, Spider-Man boys toys wire frame display. (originally used for Spider-Man 3, then TransFormers toys, now being used for all four brands.) If he's on display on those, then he'd be out of the Planogram.
We need a DVD UPC so we can call it in, verify they'll have it. (We know they're getting it) If it doesn't show up, then we know it's Wal-Mart. If it does show up, then it gives us a potential (but not guaranteed) time frame for Starscream to show up.
