Interesting. Wonder why the decided to make yet another Hot Rod. What's the point of a second more expensive Hot Rod now that they gave us SS-86 HR?
Seems like they could have made a better looking Rodimus Prime without worrying about a Hot Rod mode. That's puzzling.
I'll need to wait for better pictures before I commit to this.
The only other things I really want from Kingdom now are Tracks and Maybe Galvatron if he looks decent enough.

Looks like I will be sticking with titanium rodimus, the vehicles front looks pretty bad in the pic but no doubt it will look better in a bigger photo. The thin vehicle modes of WFC probbaly doesnt help the design in the vehicle likely won't be wider than Primes cab (and no way a vehicle at that kind of size can be worth CC price point).

But it's not Hot Rod. It's Rodimus Prime. Just because it was given a mode without a trailer/camper/whatever Doesn't make it a car, it could just be the cab part of the whole thing.Overcracker wrote:Interesting. Agreed. I think we could have gotten a Rodimus figure like the CW leader Magnus, where the whole thing turns from robot to vehicle, but I think they were going for the G1-homage where the back part separates and becomes a cannon platform. But the original G1 figure was kind of dumb with the separated Rodimus figure itself not having an alternate mode. This was the only way to fix it.Seems like they could have made a better looking Rodimus Prime without worrying about a Hot Rod mode. That's puzzling.
Again, agreed. I also think that the CC slot could have been used for a more deserving character. Personally I would have liked to see a true update of the G1 Powermaster Prime/God Ginrai. Voyager ER Prime (the Netflix version) plus an actual functional trailer. The TR figure looked like crap. The only other things I really want from Kingdom now are Tracks and Maybe Galvatron if he looks decent enough.

It should be pointed out that so far, there is nothing else to go on other then this picture and what information has been shared with leakers so far. The following picture it's self comes from twitter user, @hotconvoy, who doesn't offer a source for the picture.
As you can see, this is just the main body of Rodimus Prime, and though the picture isn't detailed, you can see some details on the legs that matches the style we've seen so far inn the WfC Trilogy. It's too early to say if be shares anything other then looks with the SS86 Voyager Class Hot Rod. We also see two accessories, a sword and a gun.
The picture also gives a Japanese ID number for him as KD-12 as well as a release date (in Japan), as August 2021, as well as his price in Yen. A date is also given of 10th of March, which, if this is to be believed, could be when we get our good and detailed look at the figure and everything he comes with.
Till we have a source for this, or get official confirmation, treat this as rumour.
If this is the real deal, what are your thoughts? Don't think this will be three in a row for Commander Class releases?
Give a shout out in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!
It looks decent enough, but I agree with what many others have said in that Rodimus Prime shouldn't be a Commander Class. Ultra Magnus would've worked a lot better as a Commander, and while I would say Rodimus should be Leader Class with a roughly Voyager sized robot mode like Optimus, I suppose it hasn't been very long since the last time we had a Leader Rodimus. I'll reserve judgement until we get a full reveal.

CC rodimus prime pretty much wasted the CC slot but sadly for my wallet I will most likely still get him because he looks cool haha

But it's still essentially a Hot Rod figure with a trailer. Yes, it would be kind of odd to just have a flat Rodimus without a trailer, but that's kind of what it needs to be. Even the PotP version at least gave the upgrade a twist using the trailer parts.

Eh I guess we'll just disagree on that. To me, calling this figure a Hot Rod would be calling the Magnus white cab an Optimus Prime.
As for the TR Ginrai, I admit the Takara version looks better, especially with Godbomber, but I still would live a true G1 update. Voyager ER Optimus plus trailer. (Think Xovergen Trailerforce, just not as sloppy.)

I think that's all of Rodimus Prime. The car is going to be huge with the back end meant to look like the camper part. Hasbro made this different so people who have the POTP figure will double dip. Is it just me or does the car really look like an update to the original toy design?

I'm assuming that the trailer will be part of the figure and they've just not shown it yet, given that this isn't even an official promotional image, just a leak.

What I would have loved to see was an official version of DX9's Carry. That was a great figure that turned the robot to a truck/camper without partsforming.

ZeroWolf wrote:What if the justification was that this was the only way to properly do justice to the character? They may be more goings on to boost the core Rodimus past the plastic allocation of Voyager Class, plus the trailer has been said to be more fleshed out then what Prime got, so the plastic used on that and Rodimus would be more then what leader class would have entailed. It would have been easier at that point to add a few other bits to get it to commander class limit then take stuff away which may work for a worse toy.
Personally, I think they could have done Rodimus Prime just fine at the Leader Price Point. I mean really, while the toys are completely different, there's never been that much difference in complexity in terms of transformation and parts between Optimus standard earth mode trailer, and Rodimus' futuristic cybertronian one.
I personally don't think the ER optimus trailer was too small, or too simple. Sure having roller would have been nice, but we got the weapons pack to fill that gap. I mean I never planned on getting Rodimus as it's not part of my wheelhouse of collecting. I just feel bat that a spot was taken that should have rightly gone to a larger transformer for this. If it does work, and the majority of fans love it, then they'll next be asking for a CC Optimus under the same premise.
I just hope to Primus, that the trailer doesn't have an Airlock compatibility...then I'll be purchasing it begrudgingly.

You could almost count on a new Commander Class release of Optimus Prime in the next few years. How else will Hasbro and Takara Tomy ever get us to buy another G1 Optimus Prime figure ever again? The Earthrise one is so good, but still not absolutely perfect, and the cynic in me believes that's by design. The Commander class price point would probably allow the designers to engineer an Optimus Prime figure that doesn't have to make compromises on plastic colors for gang-molded parts. There's more money at the Commander Class price point to cover ALL of the paint applications need to match the cartoon model. There's more plastic to give us a bigger, better proportioned trailer with Roller included, plus some other fun accessories, like the often forgotten fuel pump and nozzle from the original G1 toy. A bigger trailer might also accommodate more of the Deluxe sized Autobot cars than just Earthrise Cliffjumper and Netflix Bumblebee. You can likely count on getting the essentials like the Ion Blaster, Energon Axe, and Matrix of Leadership, along with some other fun extras, like blast effect parts. All of that could easily fill the $79.99 MSRP. Commander Class Optimus Prime is not something we need desperately right now, but it is coming, and I will likely buy it when that time comes.

Rodimus Prime comes with like a dozen accessories according to leaks. His trailer is apparently fully formed and acts as an actual battle platform. The strangest feature is a drawer to store the accessories in, which brings back major playset vibes.

Ohh no, it doesn't

Yes he's known to be a separate car in a few instances, but he's also known to be an integrated winnebago on others. If the titanium figure managed an integrated transformation, a commander class can surely manage something better than this.
But we'll see when we have more pictures of the trailer and the combination how it ends up looking.
