I discovered that a weird and completely ORIGINAL take on Computron existed. Maded by Weijiang no less. It's not a K.O nor an attempt as a pseudo "MP" version of Computron. Rather, it's a complete and fresh interpretation of the team! Plus it was pretty cheap at 56$US plus cheap shipping. I choose the all white-red-blue version to have a nice uniform look. There's still
ONE available.
Right from the start, there's hand-written notes telling you to be very careful with these figures because many parts are fragile. It's true because EVERYTHING is made out of HARD plastics. No wiggle room anywhere so tabs and such can snap if you ham-hand the figures.
The instructions are clear, except for the combined mode where everything is too damn small. Still easy enough to figure out though.
Each members are pretty big, like old deluxes and a voyager from the Unicron Trilogy era. They are also quite hefty and satisfying to handle. The feel like quality. They also come with a boatload of weapons.
I have no idea of their Wiejiang names so I'll just go with their Transformers names.
First, we have Strafe. He look great in spaceship mode and he's pretty big.
The bot mode is also pretty swell.
Here's Afterburner. The bike is so alien-like and big, it might as well be a car. Pretty cool though.
Bot mode is bad-ass with his full visor. This give him some ninja vibes.
Next is Nosecone, with his nice brickish driller mode. I forgot to flip out his little front wheels.
Bot mode is also great here. Unfortunately, because the holes of his hands are weirdly made, the only weapons he can hold are these hammers. And just barely.
After that it's Lightspeed. The car is magnificent, appart those weird blue tailfins.
Bot mode is not perfect, but it does the job.
Finally, the leader of the team, Scattershot. That spaceship mode is huge and look amazing.
Bot mode is also pretty damn good.
The team in bot mode:
As you can see here, the team combine totally differently than the original. Notably Scattorshot being both arms, Lightspeed being the top of the torso, and Strafe being the lower part of the torso. No partsforming here. Hands, feet, and the combiner head are all integrated to the individual bots. The weapons also combine into a giant sword.
Remember those warnings about fragile parts? Well, I stupidly dropped Lightspeed on the hard ground while combining and his arm snapped right off at the shoulder. There's pinned parts everywhere so it won't be an easy fix.
Trying to remove a pin, I made thing worse by scrapping the gray part. I had to find the right part then adapt the thing by grinding with bits here and there. I secured everything with screws and washers. In the end, it took me all morning, but I did it. Now the arm works again and it transform no problem.
Finally back on track with the combined mode.
GLORIOUS!Not the moste poseable, but it's more stable then a CW combiner.
Here's Calculation King beside the official CW Computron:
Calculation King look WAY better.
He deserves the place of HONNOR!
Overall, despite not being idiot-proof, this combiner is a must for any combiners lover.
