What about a tournament?

Meeting place for the Autobot faction.

What about a Gladiator/Tennis Tournament.

It requires communication but it would realy be fun if we had like, 16 players bout it out in the arena like they would in a tennis tournament.

Heck, we could have GRAND SLAMS where only the top Candidates appear (invitation based, seeded players etc.)

Feeder tournaments etc.

this requires SOME communication, but i basically HATE HMW players that never appear online etc.

This means, Trophies, Records etc.

Feel free to use my "Battle of the Nations" for a future tournament idea

UPDATE:

Burn wrote:Alrighty, this is the idea I had.

Basically ...

• Missions ending in 0 & 5 only are counted.
• Tournament will run for seven days. Ending time to be 7 days EXACTLY after starting time.
• Victory achieved by number of sectors won.

And this is where it gets interesting.

Sectors are lost of 500 missions. For example, if the tournament starts with mission #234500, then the first sector will be from mission #234500-235000 with the 0 & 5 missions counted. Whoever wins the most missions in that sector, wins that sector.

Why do this? Time zones. Some factions are more stronger at certain times of the day than others.

So there you go, basic layout. Now all you need is a storyline and volunteers to count missions!

There we go...

Now we need ideas for a story.

how about this - some disquised cons attack the other factions in an attempt to take all the sectors while the other 3 factions are fighting

How will this work out in a storyline?

I'm intrigued... (seeing as I'm not really a competent writer and a storyline is essential)

I could try to whip up a fiction, but I'd need a few volunteers from each side (with general personalities) in order to present the story...

Also, I tend to write more like a movie script than full prose, which could be a bit of a welcome change to the fiction writers... :)

As a player that enjoys stories of a tourney, this would be great!

Seeing as the Autobots will be running this tourney, all that really matters is, well... us.

The story could have several Autobots from HMW as protoganists and use canon characters from the other 3 factions to drive it further.

Also, seeing as we're supposed to conquer sections, I figure the setting of story needs to be in a certain region (doesn't have to be on Cybertron, but that would probably work best).

Say there's this thing *insert story device* in a certain region or it could be the region itself and it's really important, so all 4 factions are willing to fight to ontain it... this could be the reason why there's a tournament.

So, I propose we volunteer some Autobots to be written in the story.

DS? Would you be ok with this? (ie. I take it you're willing to write us a story?)

You'd get pretty much all the creative freedom you need except for the things I've written above.

For the record... I volunteer my namesake Sharpwing 8)

Okay, here goes:

Short version of the background:
Due to the recent "reset", all the energon that the various warriors have collected during the war (as represented by stat upgrades / energon bank accounts) was "returned" to Cybertron itself.

During the readjustment period following this event, each faction established themselves in a quadrant of Cybertron.

At one (or both) places (wastelands) where all 4 factions meet, this released energon is gathering and has just now reached quantities that can be detected, and more importantly, gathered.

Finding it important to reinforce their presence around the energon cache(s), all factions gather in their respective command/war rooms and begin their plans to claim Cybertron's gift of life...

Now, instead of making this a "sector by sector" war, I was thinking of making each "sector" actually represent a "mission" - such as:
Reinforcing the victor's presence in the wastelands
Reducing some opposition's presence in the wastes
Reaching the energon
Building / fortifying an energon extraction base
Extracting energon
Getting it home
Hijacking another faction's shipment

So that after a couple of "sectors" are finished, I could slip out a fiction update where the current leaders are starting to fortify the wastes, while the other factions are hurting in the wastes...
Then, some "sectors" represent the attempts to reach the energon cache, possibly (based on lead changes) building their own lines and weakening others...
Of course, this would be a dynamic storyline based around the results of the tour... :)

Well, I know at least one person who'll either join me in the war room or be sending me reports there Sharpwing... B-)

And the reason I was looking for other faction volunteers would be so that most / all of the story could be written from a pure HMW point of view, but I'm willing to start out with the cannon leadership(s) and work in volunteers later... ;)

I like it :)

Got a name for the region? That'd be cool.

Anyway, now we need several more volunteers to be written into the story I guess.

So for all you Autobots out there reading this, go ahead...

Primus himself initiated the reset because he could not longer watch his offspring fight each other. only to find his offspring now battling each other more ferociously

I gotta troll the forums a bit more, to be dead sure of this, but I don't think that there has been any backstory / fiction written concerning the reset itself...

If not, then yes, I might sneak the cause of the reset in...

Logicially, it would be a Primus-related cause, but why would he reset his children???

Hmmm... The Plains of Pan Sanguitha sounds like an oddball enough place to have the conflict... :P

(and no, I'm not starting a spoiler thread about my fic... :P )

It is not the first time.. and there's no place to insert "The Last Autobot" into the story.

Cybertron weakened and ravaged by the continuous battle, primus' only hope to stop his own destruction (i'm a g1 fan) is to disable the fighting Cybertronians with a last Electrto Magnetic Pulse.

Wiping the functional circuitry of all transformers and the memory cortex' of all but the most hardy bots, they find themselves awakening Eons later on a restoring Cybertron.

What Primus could not stop was the rivalry between the factions..

With their old goals still intact fights break out almost instantly. But where mighty Titans once roamed the battlefield, hardy warriors find their combat programs and routines wiped. As if these advanced warriors where thrown back to the stone age.

While the Autobots decided to tend and nurture their comrades back to strength, the Decepticons were quick to arm themselves with whatever they could think of, scientists on both sides were franticly working on creating new combat procedures and loading them up to their field warriors.

The Autobots, strengthened by Numbers and The Decepticons armed with combat prowess are quickly undoing Primus' last call for peace. In what seems to be a conflict that hasn't reached the shear destructive force of the old war ... Yet.

War...
War never changes (<- Yeah, I love Fallout as well)

This is Heavy Metal War.

LOL. My idea is just so awesome they had to take it. You know how 'Cons are.

So are we still going to do an all faction tournament? And are we still going with my alphabet idea?

I noticed Burn had something about "brought to you by the letters C & D" in his sig. If we go ahead and use the alphabet idea, I was actually going to recommend that whoever is in charge of the tournament randomly selects 2 letters a day, rather then going straight down the alphabet. Makes it more fun and unpredictable.
