Actress Megan Fox would like Megatron, the evil character from her new movie “Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen,” would like to blow up the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America.

This is going to be a heated discussion, but I would like to express my opinion on Miss Fox and tell her what an ignorant B**** she is. I live in "Middle America" and we are not this White Trash, Hillbilly, Anti-Gay and Super Bible beating people that Hollywood thinks we are. Paramount will not be seeing my money for their new Transformer movie over her stupid comment...

You're entitled to talk about what you want, but I had to move this to Gen Discussion as it has nothing to do with the movie.

Might I add that Megan grew up in Middle America.

Well, her intellect is not her bread and butter anyway, but whatever of it she was perceived to have just evaporated. Yeah, she's entitled to her opinion. But she should have known that this might not sit well with some people. Me, I am none of the things she mentioned, and even if I was I could care less. But with a big media-hyped event like RotF coming up she should have been more conscious of what she says as a representative of an entertainment powerhouse and corporate giant such as Paramount. Because when she accepted payment for her "work" in the movie, she became a representative of the company. So, this might either help RotF by bringing even more attention to it, or piss of a lot of people in "middle America" and put a dent in the box office earnings.

I'd not call middle America all those bad things. I mean, sure, 1/4th of the country (i.s the mid west) is obviously not as cool as Los Angeles or NYC all by their lonesomes, at least we're not parading around as all kindsa liberal and then not backing in up. *cough* Prop 8*cough*. There are plenty of other places in the US besides LA and New York but we're all beholden to them for our guidance. How moral of her as well, to come to the conclusion that the best way to battle 'intolerance' is to just blow it all away. Such swift, vengeful justice for thinking differently is clearly the opposite of what some of the more 'super Bible beating' people may be in favor of.

Eh, I dunno about that bold statement there. Firstly you have to define "good" and secondly, neither yourself nor Megan have the knowledge to make such bold statements.

I'm not defending her, really. I don't care for the girl and couldn't care less as to what her "views" are. But what RP said is probably true, and when you here such statements, you have to consider the source.

I think a few of you guys really misinterpreted her statement, especially the OP. She never said that everyone in Middle America was white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beaters, she said she'd like to see Megs take out the people like that who are in Middle America. Sure, she probably should have just said she'd like to see Megs take out any white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people but let's call a spade a spade, there are more people like that in Middle America than anywhere else in the country. I live in Ohio, I have to deal with these people all the time. So, next time try not to make your own assumptions about what someone said and take another look at what they said before condemning them.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I did take another look, and I am still condemning her for her idiotic statements, whether it's because she's ignorant of its media ramifications, or if she just flunked English in middle school. As I said, I could care less about her, I have a problem with this having any kind of negative light on the movie that is undeserved. (As in negative light due to this ****, instead of bad writing, bad acting, bad CGI, etc.)

There is a generalisation that Middle America is like that but we know every country on the planet has their crazy loons who live there that sees the sane ones tared with the same brush. We have those super bible bashers in Australia too Miss Fox but most people here ignore their crap.

Being fair, she doesn't want to wipe out middle America, she wants to remove those people who spoil it.

If I said I wanted to have the Decepticons get rid of all the Chavs in the North of England, I'm not insulting the North.

She's from Middle America anyway. She's allowed to criticise where she's from.

Flunked English? Her statement in no way implies that all Middle Americans are like that. If she said, "I wish Megs would kill the KKK members in Middle America" is she implying that ALL Middle Americans are KKK members? No. She'd be saying she wishes he'd kill the KKK members that are in Middle America. People are just reading too much into what she said.

Does she NOT realize that a large chunk of the demographic that is going to see this movie (and thus make her rich) ARE Middle America? Good Ol' Boys like cars and explosions and ogling half dressed bimbos, too. The people she's making fun of are the ones who made _Dukes of Hazzard_ into a phenomenon.

Does she ALSO not realize that the character she *plays* in the movie is pretty representative of the Middle America she despises? Sam goes on to college, she's a grease monkey working right out of high school. That's so totally Middle America to me. Just because she's not in the country being a 'hillbilly' doesn't mean she's not what she defines as 'white trash'.

Pro-white trash: I used to live in beautiful Harnett County North Carolina. Our claim to fame was that the two Hardy boys (wrestlers) came from our county (I met them once at a fabric store). My neighbors were totally the Wednesday Bible study group, gun-totin', NASCAR fan, redneckiest rednecks you could imagine. They were also the NICEST neighbors. They were polite, they kept their yards nice, they worked their butts off, they loved their pets as much as their children and they'd give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. One time my car died and one of my neighbors handed me the keys to his spare truck. No questions asked, no demand for money, nothing. Think that would happen where you live?

I'd rather Megatron blow up the Hollywood elite that has completely lost touch with a) reality and b) their roots. We could do with a few less latte-suckin' corruptocrats and a few more good ol' boys.

Whenever you start hating someone's RELIGION, you're forgetting the whole 'freedom of religion' thing that is one of the backbones of America. So I take it you didn't read the thread because Phenotype pretty much covered all of that. You're reading way too much into what she said. Think about it, she's from middle America. Chances are she's interacted with the kinds of people she'd like Megs to wipe out.
