I know Metroplex79 killed them all, but I want to know how the Minicon system worked, and why you where able to kill them. :BANG_HEAD:

Minicons, that was a really long time ago when OS was still programmer... If I recall, minicons served to act like a boost to your stats/armor/etc. When a character was stasis locked, the minicon attached was "killed". I think. They got discontinued after a while, and the section was never removed.

Beats me on anymore knowledge outside of that. (:|

They did boost stats. Strength/armor/firepower etc. I believe there were different flavours for different stat boosts. There was also a mission to replenish them I believe too, same as we had a mission to resupply armour resources too.

They cost a fair amount of energon, which I believe resulted in a lot of autobots going bankrupt on them. They were like heroine. At one point, a stroll through Iacon was actually more dangerous than going to trial with the Quintisons. If you remember back to season 3, post movie, where Cyclonus goes to collect energon to revive Galvatron? It was worse than that in Iacon. People just needed their next fix... Then Metroplex79 came a long and helped them need their next fix.

All that and they were surprisingly fragile and useless. Some might argue that they were useful, but... there wouldn't have been so many dead ones if they were actually useful. Seriously... At one point I felt sorry for the little buggers.

I can't remember if their final death knell was either the Autobot bankruptcy or the great wipe that took everything to 0...

All and all, they were about as useful as Bot modes where under OS.

Strength, Speed, Firepower and Courage were the stats boosted, and there was another one specifically to combat the tournament-specific triplechanger clones as they were wiping the floor with the lower levels. The huge tournament based around them with the battles against the Traplechangers, Sharkticons, Quintessons and the L15 Fallen was amazing, you can still see the evidence of their abilities on the tactics page.

Botmodes though were actually quite good, their rollout is what let them down. They added up to 5 to a single stat, coupled with the +4 boost minicons gave, there was the potential to put a stat up to 19. Problem was, due to the removal of the stat level cap to allow the Fallen to have a rank of 15 (Force Field armour) it also allowed players to set their stats above 10, and it was proven by Tammuz using arithmanc that a stat of 20+ would crash the game, so they had to be pulled as well.

The energon bug making certain players trillioniares gave the game some real strategy back then too, even if it was player-driven. Ah, the memories of the evil schemes...
