Rather oddly, I trickled back into it. Beast Wars and Beast Machines did very little for me. I did like some of the Armada figures, but was too poor to get very many. Then the 07 movie came out and TFA at a time when, well, I finally had some cash. Wheeeee.

Now Hasbro has all my cash.

I've gone back (both ROTF and TFA lines are almost dead now) and started picking up the figures I would have bought if only.... Which is a whole new level of fun.

I'm not over the moon about the upcoming toy year, though. I would like to see a close up of 'Bombshock' *eyeroll* before I decide how much INTERNETZ RAEG to expend upon them screwing up Bruticus so badly for no apparently reason.

HK, what? no Vortex? Count me out. Maybe.

Yeah, ROTF brought me back too, with a vengeance! I wish now that I'd started buying again in 2007. I didn't get Bonecrusher at first either, but I picked him up in the Carbombya BST for $3! Thanks, Seibertron!

I briefly flirted with returning to collecting TFs with RID Prime, Magnus & Galvatron, but returned full force when I discovered Classics/Universe/Henkei (modern updates on G1? SOLD), and Masterpiece Prime & Megs (everything I ever wanted in toon-accurate with a bajillion accessories).

That led me to Seibertron, where board members & mods got me caught up on all the Armada, Energon, Cybertron & Beast Wars figures I missed out on, and also got me hooked on watching Beast Wars for the first time (never knew what I had missed out on).

Ever since, I fell in love with TF:A, & never thought I'd collect the movieverse lines, but 20 figures later begs to differ. :CON:

Oddly, the Energon cartoon. One day, I saw the autobot symbol on tv as the preview of the new cartoon (it was the first time any tf cartoon was aired here), later I searched the net for local forums, and the toystores for figures.

Heh, the first figures I saw in stores back then were the energon combiners - Superion Maximus and the micromaster Devastator - and they were the first I completed.

Alternators and 20th Anniversary (Masterpiece) Prime pulled me in.

Then I bought the Rhino G1 series DVDs and got back into the show. I'd watch a few episodes a night after my wife went to bed. Those were good days (nights). Nostalgic show and a fledgling collector.

After G1 I decided to let myself get into Beast Wars. It was 100% better than I anticipated,

Now I have over 1,000 toys from various TF lines. G1/Neo-G1 (classics + whatever else works) is still my weakness.

I tried watching Beast Wars in the 90's but Rattrap and Black Arachnia really bugged me. Whiney voiced BW Scorponok seemed like an insult to the beloved G1 commander.

Then I discovered Beast Machines and liked the dark atmosphere and intelligent writing. Animation was great though I disliked the Vehicons bot modes and their lack of limbs.

Then in 2002, an old friend gave me the first issue of Dreamwave's Armada. Despite my disappointment that it didn't carry on from the Marvel comics, I did like it.

Then I discovered Dreamwave's G1 books and was hooked.

The end of that year, I stumbled on the reissues. My all time favourite Autobot Prowl reeled me in. Had inherited my friends' TF's when I was a kid and got a broken Prowl. This shiney new one was hard to resist. Picked up Sixshot the same day. Never seen him before but could guess who he was, despite the Japanese writing adorning his box.

Shame I wouldn't discover Ebay for another couple of years because Forbidden Planet charged criminal prices for the reissues which I foolishly paid.

How I miss the days of Dreamwave.

Alternators did it for me, as well at the US release of MP/20th Prime

Especially near the end of the Alt run, I found a pile of them cheap and was pretty well hooked.

Then Classics happened, and it was all over ... in a good way. :-)

Then I filled in holes in the lineup with figs from other lines.

I also customize, so that pulled in a lot of stuff too.

The 07 movie. The first 2 I got, I got at the same time, Movie Starscream and Bonecrusher. I took Bonecrusher back because my sister broke him in the sam night, but I exchanged him for another one...and thus my exchanging Transformers for other ones began...

Beast Wars was a big factor, and gotta say the show quality was the best, and the toys were pretty good. Beast Machines and RiD almost done it in for me, as I was very disappointed in the direct that each take. RiD was very dishearten due to the low quality of the toys (heck, I'm selling the Build team!). From Armada, I stay tune in with the toys, but never liked the shows.

I got most of the Alternators, which was the best thing for TF. Man, so sad to see it ended; Alternity are just too expensive (anyone feels those are really worth it?). And I haven't warmed up towards Mike Bay's TF.

Although I never stopped altogether my enthusiasm was lit with Classics. It peaks when they come back to selves and dips when movie sh!t is on the shelves. Right now its at an all time low.

The 07 movie got me thinking about Transformers again, and then I quickly got into the Classics line. So a combo of those two. I even missed Alternators since I was completely beyond the "toy-phase" at that time. I wish I would have grabbed them when they were current.

These should almost be 1 thread... anyway:

RiD caught my eye, because they were cars again. I was really excited. Plus the internet was new and awesome for me, and I could look up pictures of them! Sadly I still didn't have much money, so while there was a spark of interest, it slowly faded again. Luckily, just long enough to miss out on Armada, because looking at it now, it was a step back from RiD.

Finally, the combination of moving out and having my own income, along with discovering this site, and the advent of 20th Anniversary Prime got me hooked. It was a golden era, it seemed, with Energon, Alternators AND Reissues all going at once. If only I'd had the money to buy them all at the time! Though I've mostly caught up now. ;) (Disposable income's nice, isn't it?)

I went through a few lulls, one during Cybertron when I was living with a somewhat less-supportive ex-girlfriend, another smaller one just before Classics started (started losing interest), and a period of boredom after the first movie line, but I seem to be going strong now, with no signs of wanting out. 8)
