Okay everyone Sunstar is here.
If you want a good opinion on figures, I have 59 starscreams in my collection, click on the links below if you want to explore a wide possibility.
My favourite toy is actually Mega SCF PVC Starscream. He's non transformable but looks like the G1 Character.
If you want a Starscream, you can't go wrong by picking up an original or G1 reissue. I would recommend takara's G1 reissue because the missiles are the short versions; not hasbro's really long ones. Articulation is pretty poor though, but it is a time honoured design.
As for other figures, Classics Starscream is pretty nice. Easily transformed, looks like the G1 character--more or less. Robotmasters is a nice figure as well, but lacks articulation of the knees.
Very pricy but a very sweet transformer is the Masterpiece Starscream. It is my favourite transforming figure. He is a feat of engineering. If you do not mind the fact he is a sort of dark green colour, I recommend him highly. MP-03 is well worth it. Very tricky transformation READ INSTRUCIONS!
Going to other variations of Starscream figures.
Pretender is interesting, but kind of silly. I would not recommend that one.
Cybertron Starscream I do recommend.
There is the supreme Starscream which stands 14 inches tall. He has lights and sounds as well as a crown. There are also smaller versions, by TRU, which is a dark red figure. Rather attractive. Also Galaxy force Starscream which is the smaller voyager sized figure too.
Legends of Cybertron are pretty nice. They're light and have good articulation. 3 inches tall
Titanium Starscream (6 inch) Now that is a great toy. I love the mould of this figure. He is bright and clean looking and has a simple transformation. He is pretty heavy too; made of mostly metal. Recommended.
Armada Starscream. He had an interesting character in the show. Sort of G1-esq but a bit more angsty. He has a couple different sounds and a minicon. He is nice and there are a couple variations of him out there. The Japanese Version of Armada Starscream is the nicest. Sams club "energon" starscream, which is a repaint of armada, is also a very nice figure.
Energon Starscream
I don't have the japanese version of this but there are at least 3 variations of the figure. Black, G1 coloured grey and the G1 Coloured blue(japanese superlink)I like the figure but transforming it puts me at great unease. I don't recommend him.
Machine wars Starscream....
I call him bob. He looks nothing like G1 Starscream and he transforms like a brick. He's neat but not something I would recommend to someone who is interested in getting Starscream. He is black, grey, blue with billious green missiles.
Beast Machines the Second. Again I would call this figure fred. He looks nothing like G1 Starscream or any others for that matter. He is very different purple and black with yellow. He is a very fun figure, but again I do not recommend him for someone just wanting a Starscream.
there is a lot more out there but those are my notes. G2 btw is neat as well.
Edit: final note. I have not yet picked up the movie Starscream so I do not know what he is like. However the FAB toy is a lot of fun. Look in your local stores for those.

I think this is partially true. The DW box Reissue is quite good. It's more anime accurate and has the aforementioned standard missles.
There is an earlier Takara reissue Starscream that has numerous problems with loose joints and bad tolerances with the wings.

Sunstar to the rescue! Hah, well that was the most in-depth opinion on "Best Starscream" ever.
I wonder, has anyone ever tried modding the hasbro missiles so as to make them fit like they should... I mean, cutting off the long end, while adding a notch or something to still allow it to fire?
My favorites are these:
1. Masterpiece. Most impressive.
2. Galaxy Force. He's so badass, I can't even find him on eBay.
3. Energon (dark deco). I actually like this guy a lot. he's an homage, yet still original with a darker, more evil-looking color scheme. Plus, swords are always cool.
I know I should mention reissue, but honestly he's a brick. He's only cool for the old-skool original factor (don't hurt me please
). Classics would probably be my 4th pick, only because he has a crappy paint job.

i really enjoy the mp myself. i'm looking forward to seeing him recolored, but it's not necessary to still make it the best screamer ever. classics is great especially if you can't dish out the ends for a g1. i really like the cybertron ss as well. i also like "nightscream" reverse, which is kind of a play on the ghost of starscream. hmm, and if you don't exactly like the movie screamer, a repaint is comming out 3rd quarter of the year.

Wow, so much good input, thanks!
I kind of like the Energon SS. He seems smaller than the Armada one though, which is a bummer. Yet the Supreme SS (Cybertron) is too large for me. I can't find TRU SS. Nice pictures of him though. ebay sellers seem to ask too much for some of these things.
The ones I have now are:
Original G1 Starscream (complete)
Classics Starscream
I've always liked him, and his character.

Where can I get him? All I see on ebay are the big Supreme sized ones for $40+.

In other words, you can't get him. Just keep an eye out for future auctions, that's all you can do...

I'd nominate Classics Starscream. He looks cartoon accurate in both modes, is easy to transform, nicely poseable and his size makes him easy to display and best of all he's fun. Solid all-around figure.
I'd still say that MP Starscream looks grandest of them all, but I can't say much more than that cause I don't have him yet.

I really like Armada Starscream. He has the "Mess with me, and you die" look. And c'mon? Wings as Swords! Totally awesome.

tfc 09 anime starscream.
IF or WHEN Hasbro does a recolored Masterpiece, that would take first over the tfc version.

My screamers, in order
1-Cybertron Starscream
I adore the shear size and grandure that this figure portrays, I just love the idea of a giant Screamer. The crown tops it
2-Classic Starscream
I do not own a G1 screamer, and this guy is so possable and fun!
3-Armada Starscream
... HE'S THE INTERESTING ONE. YEAH.
4-Machine Wars Starscream
He's pretty fun and cool looking for a brick, I do like the face, even if it originaly wasn't Starscream
5-Robot Heroes Starscream
ADORABLE. SIMPLY ADORABLE
6-Cybertron Legends Starscream
For 7 bucks, he is neat to carry around, userping thrones and the such ^^
7-Energon Starscream
He... has a sword? Eh, he's not great.

Just thought I'd update and say I picked Titanium SC, and just today, picked up Energon SC in G1 colors.
I'm happy.

Classics Starscream w/ the Reprolabels G1 decal modification. It looks dead on G1. And best part: only 2 removable parts. And those are the guns w/ missiles.
