Yeah, didn't the agents in Men in Black say "We're from section 7" whenever they arrived on the scene?
Or was that section 8?

The fact of the matter is, if this was a real life scenaro. The US government would have a designated team who's been trained to deal with this type of event. We spend over 300 Billion dollars a year in defense. We have a contingency plan for everything. The president wouldn't send the local sherrifs to handle a situation like this, or the FBI, this type of information is beyond clasified. So naturually the agents involved would be classified too(Men in Black). If that doesn't seem real to you then you have no idea how our defense apparatus operates.

8)
NICE.

Yeah, a men in black dealie is more realistic.
But the thing that was cool about the show was that they were big freakin' robots that were near impossible to hide from the public.
2 seconds after waking up, they're running around attacking power plants and saving guys from burning oil rigs.
3 seconds later, everyone sees the Autobots are good, and their best hope in running damage control on these "evil Decepticon" guys.

I think that (a clever writer that doesn't use poopy cliche's) could've ditched that whole part of the story and devoted the free time to something cool and original.
Or something cool and G1.

Especially this day and age in after-9/11 America, the whole "Homeland Security" stuff doesn't need to be drilled into our heads anymore. We get it already. It's changed our lives. It's ..."normal".

1) it's not arrogant to assume most of us are American. quit reading so much into it and quit looking for a fight.
2) it was about realism when Bay said it was...never before that...it was a cartoon. cartoons are fake. maybe it's about American issues because it's an American movie? if it's supposed to be about something else, film it in your own country with your own issues. until then, shut up or don't see the movie
3) nobody is asking you to research anything

I just checked the Sector7 website's email section again. There's a new email about "decoded audio files" that has two audio samples from someone that Dr. Rebecca Howards considers a potential ally. They're garbled, as neither are fully translated, but at certain points you can make out the voice of who she wants to contact.

I agree with you. Being an American myself, I with not wanting the millitary to be involved in stuff like Extera-terrestrial contacts, since we'll never hear of them otherwise.

It's pretty much an application of the infamous Brookings report of Nasa made in 1958. ( A report I passionately hate )

Here's some info on it. ( the entire report is 400+ pages )
It pretty much stated that if mankind would discover alien life or at least evidence of it, it would destroy human society, especially in religious, economic and scientific areas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookings_Report
http://www.enterprisemission.com/brooking.html
http://www.enterprisemission.com/tmm0014.html

Sector 7 would be pretty much one of those Area 51, Roswell, Men in Black groups to keep the public in ignorent bliss to pretty much protect both the religious, industrial and economic leaders in power. There was a story in the book called "The Roman" where a man went to Ceaser and told him of a dream where he invisioned a steam powered engine and wanted to to start making it. Ceaser said go ahead and then had one of his men kill the guy. One of Ceaser's ade asked why he did that and Ceaser said, "It would ruin the economy." I see a same patteren here.

Hopefully, Sector 7 gets their secretive asses handed to them by the :CON:'s.

Which is exactly what would happen. It would be chaos on a global scale of biblical proportions. The Human race can't even get along with itself yet, you really think we're ready to meet a race of beings that actually are superior to us?

Don't get me wrong, I want to see alien life as much as you, but this planet isn't ready for it.

Considering the fact that we got sci-fi movies depicting man working and living with aliens, from Star Trek to Star Wars to Star-Gate, I think people can accept it more.

Plus this is my opinion here....if mankind goes and destroys itself cause it can not handle the idea that we are not the superior species, that we are not the gods we think we are, that scientists are not the pompus snobs they thought they were and not able to handle their mistakes, and that the religious community and the people who are in charge of the world's wealth might loose their power, than mankind deserves to wipe itself out. Cause I think we as a species, to quote Picard from that first borg episode, "what we needed was a good kick in our complacentcy."

And guess what? Many other countries, such as France, Italy, Germany and especially Japan, are very open to these things and are making any and all info on UFO's and possable evidence regarding the existence of other life out in space avaible for the public to look at. Not everyone follows the compartmentalize mentality we yankies follow.

And look at it this way, with the religious, economic and scientific communities pretty much not on the same rung as they are now would be a good thing, cause they have been holding man from advancing for way too long. I wanna know there's more to life than just taxes and a 6 foot hole in the ground.

Besides, if an alien invasion was to happen, I'd sure wanna be informed about it and not seeing the next morning a bunch of squigly, slimy things pointing a weapon in my face when I wake up in the morning, or finding myself with an alien butt-plug up my ass.

So personally, the only use for the brookings report is just to keep the short leg of my breakfast table level. Or for toilet paper. :-P

But why do we have to keep the religous leader and so forth in power?

Isn't it time people grew up and abandoned superstition?

There is an out to this. Why not educate the people about the aliens instead of secret government groups? By your statement the Earth will NEVER EVER be ready for alien visitors

First off, could you have necrobumped an older thread?

Second, by DOTM (And I'm assuming partway through ROTF when the Fallen just told everyone) the Transformers are public knowledge.
