Fact is, this isn't about whether "they" care or not. Hell, I don't think even Asians who weren't born in China or Japan would care.
But here's the thing....
It's about common business courtesy on the part of those in charge of the movie. AoE was set in China because there's a massive emerging market for TF's there, one that's only going to get bigger. If you're about to meet an important client from Samoa, you wouldn't greet him in Hawaiian. That would be rude and borderline offensive.
With that said, I'll keep my mind open until the movie hits the theaters. Maybe there's a good explanation for it.
