Works both ways.

My dislike of Animated allowed me to concentrate more on completing my G1 collection.

For me, I decided I hated Animated from the previews and only bought one toy. But after watching the show a little more and looking at all the new figures, I regretted it. Too bad it had to happen right after Animated was axed. (I did happen to get my hands on a few)
I really don't strongly dislike any franchise, though. Except I'm not the biggest fan of Beast Machines.
Also, I usually don't tone down one franchise to focus on another. A usually just buy a few at a time from two different series simultaneously, although right now I just want a slag load of ROTF and HFTD for Christmas.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

They don't get to the final chapter, or a regime change changes the final chapter to something that feels disingenuous to its predecessors. Having Michael Bay direct a trilogy means they'll fit together much nicer than what we've seen with something like the X-Men movie franchise. But frankly, Transformers and Revenge of the Fallen have great replay value to me, so I'm not fearing the end. Even though like many of the posters in this thread, the movieverse is what reinvigorated my fandom.

That's an excellent point, it has to end somewhere or it'll stagnate. This isn't like Spider-Man or Batman where a new villain can pop up for each movie and they can do that until the end of time. It has to be about Autobots and Decepticons.

I will miss the movies. I've been waiting my whole life to see Transformers done with this much realism and detail. The movies are as real as they'll ever get and we won't get the same wow factor with any cartoon or comic series.

I believe most of the new TF related materials were reignited by the movies. So both things are connected. :)

Yeah? And what, we're going to ignore the 20+ years that came before the movies?

Like I said, plenty of other TF related material to keep me entertained.

I'm not saying to ignore anything. It's a fact that Transformers is living its Renaissance because of the new movies.

I love this debate so, so much. I know they made a lot of money, and I know even casual fans went to see them, but people can't really believe that the live action movies resurrected Transformers, when for the past 25 years there has been some kind of media featuring them. IF you mean make the brand popular, then you can't say TF had somehow gone away, becuase they didn't, they just weren't number one at the box office, but there was a time when vampires and wizard children weren't the zomgbestesteffar either, but no one says the same stupid stuff with the same stupid regularity as they do with Transformers.
On topic, I won't miss the movieverse because there will be, just as there has been for the last 25 years, plenty of other TF media to keep me happy, and as strange as this will sound, if there's no new thing for a year or two, I'm ok with what I have. I don't need something new every 10 months so I don't forget about my favorite space robots.

Well, as someone who got into TF in 1984... yes. Yes, I will. I love the movies and toys. Honestly, some of the criticism makes no sense to me. They're not the world's best movies... but come on! There's tons worse out there. And they're pretty good to boot.

Sam, Mikaela, Lennox, Epps, Simmons and Keller were and still are some of the best humans in the franchise. And I loved the movie designs. Incredible action and stories here.

So... yes. I will miss it. Then I'll watch my DVD and play with my toys and not miss them so much. :)
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

"Keep hope alive!" Hopefully they'll make more movies. Look at Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, and a ton of other movies that got 6 or more parts to them. Paramont and Hasbro made a ton of money from the Transformer movies, and I don't think they would just throw that away when it has so much potential, and they can make so much more. So, say good by to the old trilogy and hello to the new and better trilogy.

Like many on this thread, my interest was rekindled by the movies. After Marvel's G2 series ended, I didn't keep up on what was going on with Transformers. Plus, life happens and more important things needed to be tended to. It was ROTF that really got me interested again - I dug out all my old comics and reread them and loved them just as I did when I first bought them. It was like buried treasure, or old friends refound. Now, I'm hooked again - and now I've got the time and money to spend to stay caught up.

I'll miss the fact that there won't be a fourth movie in this series, because the movieverse does get my imagination going - there's a lot of good ideas there. There's a lot of potential - and I just hate wasted potential. But, something always comes along. Whether it's Transformers Prime or books or comics or the toys or video games, there's a continuation to this many faceted universe because so many of us are inspired by the Transformers.

I'll bet there will be more movies. You just might have to wait a few years! Until then, I'll be re-reading and re-watching what I have!

While we may not see a Transformers movie for awhile, I would think Paramount and Hasbro would be complete idiots not to make more after two (and an assumed third) successful summer blockbusters based on the franchise.

Exactly. The Bayverse might come to an end, but you can bet they'll reboot the movieverse first chance they get.

For a long period, I though it was over already, not knowing of the existence of DOTM. I was sad. I very much like the movie characters and toys, and I wanted to see what else the movieverse would do with classic characters, and it'll be a sad thing to see it go.
PLEASE contact me if you have any of the following, or know where I can find them:
[list]
[*]Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime's wings
[*]RTS Deluxe Optimus Prime's sword
[*]Cybertron Voyager Vector Prime's sword

Thank you.
