Why Do Transformers "Urinate"?

Postby moldavite » Sat Mar 08, 2008 8:57 pm

One of the scenes in the transformers movie that I found very difficult to understand is the one involving Bumblebee doing something greatly resembling human urination.

I have no problem with the concept that maybe Transformers, like humans, can and perhaps need to expel body fluids. But why would an alien robot do so in a manner similar to a human male? Why does his fluids come out of his crotch? Why not from some other area of his body? And again, why in a manner similar to a human male?

What are the authors of this tale trying to imply? That TFs have...erm anatomy similar to a human male in the crotch area? What was the purpose of Bumblebee's "urination" scene other than for providing toilet humor?

There was no other purpose.

It was toilet humour. Plain and simple. And probably the lowest point of the movie for me.

If they wanted to do some toilet humor on a Sector Seven agent, why not have had Sam pee on him? We all know why Sam would pee like a human male (because he is one). But why an alien robot and in a similar manner? Would Arcee have been able to expell fluids in a similar manner as Bumblebee, or would she have to squat? Again, none of this makes any sense to me.

Of course it's making no sense to you because you're looking into it too much!

As for why having Bumblebee do it and not Sam, well it would just be crude and untasteful (more so) for one human to pee on another. By Bumblebee doing it it was to represent Bumblebee copying the dog that peed on Ironhide in an attempt to be funny.

Actually, given Sam's ridiculous and corny characterization in the film, I would expect him to be more stupid and tasteless than Bumblebee in this matter. Especially after all the brain damage he acquired from banging his head against Bumblebee's hood everytime he saw Mikaela.

Why's everyone baggin on Sam. I think LeBeof (sorry if misspelled) did a great job as Sam and I'm glad he'll be back for the sequels.

As for the urination.

Transformers don't urinate, they leak lubricant!

Shia's a great actor and did a great job. It's just that his character went too far with his dorkiness and all its slapstick cheesy humor. I don't fault Shia himself, being that he was only doing what he was told to do.

And if Transformers only leak lubricant, why do they do so out of their crotch and in a manner similar to a human male peeing? That just makes no sense to me coming from an alien robot.

Since you insist on ignoring the simple fact that it was a stupid joke and all your looking for a "in story" reason for why Robots from space would be able to urinate or leak lubricant from "their crotch and in a manner similar to a human male" think on this one for a while.

The transformer race is much older then the human race so they may have had that ability longer then we had so ask yourself why do humans urinate from their crotchs and in a manner similar to a Robot from space.

Also at the begining of the film Primes voice said that the Cube is capable of creating worlds and filling them with life.........but nothing is said about what kind of life it can create nor is there any real mention of when the Cube came to earth.

So how do we know that the Cube did not create our form of life????Maybe the Cube created or modified our planets forms of life to mimic some of the physical characteristics of TF life.

If the cube created the Transformers and us, why aren't we all a bunch of feral psychopaths?

I'm wondering if that cube is really the allspark. It could be that the writers put that cube into the first movie to throw us all off so they can present the true allspark in the second movie, which is a sphere of light instead and WAY more powerful. Who knows.

I'm wondering if that cube, along with many others, was created by Unicron in his quest to destroy all biological civilizations and have them replaced with machine ones under is command? Again, who knows.

First.....what makes you think we're not a "all a bunch of feral psychopaths"?????Considering how we as humans have treated our fellow man, the animals and the planet how do you think some pease loving visiting aleins would judge our societies????

Second.....what makes you think that the Cube only creates "feral psychopaths"????If your refering to how the new bots acted after being changed by the Cube then your thinking with a closed mind.

Those new bots only acted like any other new born might act....kicking and screaming like any other baby.

You also have to considered that [in the movies universe] all of earths modern tech was derived from studing and revers engineering parts of Megatron so it may be that theres aspects of Megatron's spark running threw the new bots as well as every thing humans have made threw study of Megatron's frozen body.

How did we arrive at the conclusion that Transformers urinate? Bumblebee had previously seen the "rodent infestation" known as Mojo go #1 on Ironhide's foot and, in response to Simmons, copied the dog. Simmons was an over the top character; BB was just responding in kind IMO.

As it's already been described by someone else, it was nothing more than toilet humor.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

EXACTLY!
It doesn't NEED to be urination! Looking at his parts that's about where his petrol/gas tank would go to, so it's pure & simple mimicry.
Bumblebee's thoughts: "It annoyed Ironhide, it would annoy Simmons."
Not: "I need to pee anyway, lets do it on him."

I agree this part sucks. the scene itsself was good, but that was probably the lowest point of the movie. Transformers don't "Pee". Some have said "its gasoline" so what were they going to do set the guy on fire? It was just pure toilet humor and garbage and completly pointless for the movie.

If you want an in story reason, and since I'm in the movie forum for some reason (Not sure how that happened...) I guess I can give you one:

Perhaps energon, like gasoline, doesn't achieve 100% efficiency, that meaning there's be some sort of waste product left over. Rather than various fumes, though, they condense it into a harmless liquid state. (I say harmless because Simmons walked away without chemical burns) Much in the same manner as humans absorbing nutrients from liquid, then expelling what we don't need or can't absorb.

Or, as an even better explanation, a wizard did it.

Huh?

Do we seriously think there was an "in story" reason for BB doing that to Simmons? Or are we just that unable to get our minds around the concept that it was a gag?

nah im convinced it was a ploy by the film makers to try and wind all you sad pillocks who keep over thinking every single part of this film up.

It amazes me that the same group of people who take all the millions of plot holes from all the tf cartoons find it so amazing that there are loads in the film!!!!

All warlocks are wizards but not all wizards are warlocks. A warlock is an evil wizard trained in dark combat arts (summoning monsters, fire spells etc)
