I'd argue: when was the last time we had an official MP that wasn't fairly accurate to the toy or animation model? The Ultra Magnus repaint from MP-01 is the only one I think of...

That question is basically a red herring. The point of the MP line is to create animation accurate robots with officially licensed vehicle modes (where applicable). What other lines have done in the past doesn't really reflect on what TT is doing with the MP line now.

Like Aggie said, when was the last time since the reboot that TT has given us such a lazy rendition of a character? They haven't yet, and there's no reason to think they will anytime soon.

Besides, if they were going to simply put a new head on the Sideswipe mold, they would have given us Sunstreaker instead of Tigertrack.

Tigertrack is why I don't think we will ever see a MP Sunstreaker. Look, I'll be very happy to be wrong, but I'm not going to pass up a sure thing for something that might happen, and if it does, could be years down the road.

And if they do end up releasing another, better, Gun Megatron... so what? If you buy Appolyon NOW it's not like he cost you 300 dollars... he's priced at what now? 150 or something? That's really not that bad for a Masterpiece of his size, ont he contrary.

A sure thing? I guess you can call it a sure thing in the sense that it exists, but I would happily wait another year or two for the real thing over a potentially bad first figure from an out of left field 3rd Party.

I'm not knocking people who get Spinout or Apollyon. Far from it. But when folks say they have no confidence in Takara to do certain things, especially when the movement of 3rd Party companies towards MP-styled figures is a direct result of TT knocking the MP line out of the park, it rankles me a bit.

Unless TT announces an official MP... even a sniff of an official MP Megatron or Shockwave would put a huge dent in 3rd Paryt secondary market prices.

That's what got me. TT has yet to do anything to shake my confidence in the MP line. You can't look at the C/G line as a basis for the way they view repaints and retools within the MP line. With Wheeljack and Tracks sharing the same mold, or say Sideswipe and Sunstreaker (which was brilliant in execution) is all well and good for C/G. But they have yet to pull any tricks like that with the MP figures. Hell, even on things they might've gotten away with like the Datsun bro's head sculpts, they didn't cheap out on us.

You could say Tigertrack was a no effort cash grab (which is OK since it was still technically "correct"), but their next Diaclone homage (Exhaust) got a new head sculpt and accessories! They're not even cheaping out on Diaclone homages! Also, isn't their next one (BLUEstreak) also going above and beyond? I'm pretty sure its been pointed out that his head is from the Prowl sculpt, while the body is from the Streak sculpt (which is how the OG Diaclone would have looked).

They may not be releasing stuff according to OUR schedule, but they're certainly doing right by us.

I don't think anyone is saying they're not doing right by us. We're all clearly huge fans of the MP line, such huge fans infact that we're willing to buy third party figures to close the gaping holes in our collections: something Megatron definitely is.

If Takara comes out with a good gun Megatron I'd still buy it. But right now that doesn't seem all that likely, they seem more likely to release a Tank Megs or Galvatron first. And even that seems a way off.

I never said I wouldn't buy a Takara Streaker when or if it ever comes out, just that I don't think one will, or if it does, it will be years down the road. I think there are too many other characters Takara will want to do first.

Sites should offer package deals with stickers ) I'd pay more for having them pre-applied, I Always sucked at applying stickers!

But those pictures look amazing, if he turns out to be made out of very good quality he's going to be a top seller. (Even if he isn't probably, given that MP-05 was such a heap of crap and still seems to have sold quite well)

It's good for getting up to date news, a ton of my Apollyon updates have come from there, sure you have to sift through a fair bit of "his crotch is too big" or "the Legs look awful!" And now "aghhhhh those dimples, pre-order CANCELED!" But they have had a lot of useful Apollyon updates.

It's also a good place to pick up a bargain or two if you have the patience.

The good and bad with TFW 3rdp thread is its so packed its hard to read through all the comments .

Like i said its very rare i pop over i'm not a member theres no point i would just get lost in wave after wave of turbo nerds .

i dont even think ive stole any photos or updates from the site , i know a lot of in the know are over there its just too busy for me .
