Think the company creating these realized the diecast metal parts was a bad thing. Thats why a short while later he re-created everything using plastic parts. I even created a thread months ago showing off all the plastic replacements parts that were being sold for MP-09.
When these first appeared on the TFW 3rd party forum section months ago. TFW forum members heavily guessed the metal joint pieces would shred the other plastic pieces inside the knee joints areas.
What X2 should have done was also make diecast parts for the other stuff inside the knee areas. like the connecting tabs and other connecting parts.

Hmm, given the horror stories I've heard about MP Rodimus's shoulders and knees literally exploding, this could be a very good thing. Joints on MP figures should be diecast by default unless they asolutely need to be plastic.

I don't think diecast should be a requirement on any MP - except for maybe in the lower legs/feet. It's a nice feature, but I can't see MP Sideswipe or Prowl really needing it. Rubber tires are more what I'm looking for, but I understand that the rubber won't survive certain climates, so I endure.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I'm only really talking about the jointwork though (and the legs/feet) as those are put under a lot of stress and metal is good for things like that. I've never handled an MP figure though, so I can't really comment, but I think that it could be used to avert nasty breakages (like Rodimus's exploding shoulders).
Really we need a new MP Rodimus figure, but eh.
