In AD's defense. I am going to give you a little Lithium.

Who says you have to level up to higher levels when you can just sit at level 6 and do what works?

Right i don't normally do this but!

You want all these blokes with all that xp to hover cluttering up the midfield and not feeding the competition or your support when for 15 million xp you can make a fairly decent lvl 8 tank. You say "i'll stay down here and do what works" I'm calling shenanigans on that excuse, feed the war machines give the lower levels on both sides their chance at making decent xp and increase the competition at the top end. This is what burnt my gears when i was a Bot way back when and the Bots still haven't learnt if you want the peeps to lvl up and fill the void do the same and give them the example to follow give the little guys a chance.

Look at the activity of players and the levels. You will find a majority of activity from the higher level players to be doing what you said and feeding up levels to give them high XP payouts.

Not saying anything about builds, just levels and activity, but I see Zordon/CJB/ROS/AZ/AD in more fights than I do N_V. Most of the XP I get is from N_V as a bot, with feeders off of Potentate,Icon Jade, Bristleback, and other well established feeders.

I'm all for building stronger builds, but right now we have a slight imbalance of strong builds on one side and level boosters on the other side. I can honestly say I have a spread team across the board (Some towards the upper end, some towards the lower end). I run into more level builders on my team which leads to less XP generated for our side than it does for the con's side. I rarely run into situations like that. For example, I play from when I wake up at (5am to about when I get home or turn in at 2am)EST. During that time I spend about 60% on my phone or spare laptop. I monitor most of my fights, and when I can gleam the data. from levels 5-7 the area is pretty bleak for most of the day. Most of the time we end up with matches like this. Towards the end of the day or early morning it balances out, but for the most part you end up with AD/AZ/Conjours/and others fighting it out to gain XP off of a few.

Likewise its not so much fun to put your bot in with a solid build against a straight leveler and have them decimate. That's why I understand where a Con like Burn's Lithium exists. At Level 6 its has more Xp than most of my team put together, but its a solid build. Being able to take that out is a challenge and fun when it happens.

But since we are talking about things that strip the gears I figured I would share a different perspective.

when he could be there now great help that, Ram/repairers or ram strafers are prolly better than strafe repairers when your top Bot player isn't about much

At level 6+, for bots, ram/repair is where it's at. Typically, we out number the cons 2-3:1. Makes ram more effective than strafe, and the repair even more effective as it helps cut down on your fellow bots CR cost/time and turns them into XP generators. If you're against repair, ram/avoid is still a decent choice, since at least Avoid will get you some extra XP when it fires off. But again, since we tend to out number you guys, if you're not running repair, you're not taking advantage of the situation.

There's a difference between solid builds and being a bully. Tell me Gauntlet doesn't have a solid build, and then look at the people he's passed.
_Anshin_ wrote:Bah, you guys just want free XP. You should encourage some of your people to follow AZ's route so we can feed off of people other than N_V.

There are quiet a few people on both sides that are level runners. Psychout is one of them. Typically the problem has always been that the people with more XP don't want to generate XP for anyone else, because they're afraid to lose their rankings on the high scores table. I believe ROS himself even admitted something along those lines in the past. It's a shame that they have so little faith in their builds, but it is what it is.

I need that like button again...

You also forgot about how when the Autobots sit down there at the lower levels with their "solid builds" they're actually choking out their potential back up, by soaking up most of the XP, which can also lead newer players to say screw this and walk away, which cuts back on the number of people playing, and amount of XP that can be generated long term. It's like if someone offers to you 50 bucks now, or 5000 in a year. How many people would sit and wait for the year at the larger amount, vs just take the fifty?

Again, two points to make Anshin. If you're not running repair, you're not taking advantage of me, AD, ROS, and every other bot at your level. We can generate just as much XP for you. It's why I've converted the vast majority of my team to repairbots. Yeah, I don't really like the alt modes that much, but Psychout has that neat game where you hunt for the alt you want.

Second, you're confusing solid build for bullying. I know Burn's gonna pop up with the "this isn't bullying, we eliminated that a long time ago!" but it wasn't eliminated, it just evolved, and I am sure that the level bullies of the time argued that they had solid builds too, but, fact of the matter is, if your XP is high enough to be at least two levels higher, then you can god damn level up 1 level.

To me, it's like those [censored, this is a kid friendly board after all] who play shooters with modded controllers so they can fire a single fire gun like it's a friggen chain gun or autohead shot, or dive and fire, and think it makes them good... No, it doesn't. It makes you lower than lawyers. And you have no skill. So, go a head and tea bag and rape, but when I pop your skull without any mods and just my amazing skill, it makes you even worse of a player.

Nah. AD's character was having issues. Darq doesn't normally.

Besides I had 3 solid support characters there and the rest were lower levels that wouldn't have lasted long against N_V, Sustain, or Rolltide. Also if you take a look, Darq lasted 2 minutes and several rounds after the last bot fell. He was also towards the top.

I've had level 3s get the Killing blow on one of N_V's chars out of luck. That is what I am adding your kill up to

Actually AZ, I have a repair build that I have released to feed off of you, however again that is a crap shoot at its level. Sending in 5 repairs against ram/strafers tends to lead to several dead repairers. I watch Zordon constantly because I am trying to build my lowest bot around one of his strafe/repairers. That said, without proper support he falls faster than your character stickshift.

I am not confusing also a solid build for bullying. If you think that Lithium is a bully, well he may be, but his build is only 2million XP over being maxed out at level 6 with three solid 10 stats and a solid 10 Ram build. Problem is you are seeing things, or perhaps I am from a skewed perspective.

You level your bots up to gain higher xp thus having a slightly admittedly weaker build (2 point into int for example for a ram or strafe build). This works great in getting you into higher levels and therefore an opportunity to generate higher XP, but also increases your chance to be weaker. If you used the higher XP gains to rebuild your bots for better stats as you gained the XP that would be different, however that is not the case for some of the people that follow this train of thought. What ends up happening is that the Autobots that do this gain XP, and provide greater XP. The Decepticons are fewer in this train of thought but support it because it is a great benefit.

I've watched repairers on both sides. The only huge gains appear really when N_V comes out to play. Outside of that they earn average for their level. However, you do see huge jumps in XP for battle damage that they cause.

For example, take a poll of this latest game. If you look at the level spread you have a 10 autobots and 8 Cons with the average level of the bots being 5 (4.6 actually) and the cons being 4 (4.3 acutally).

Taking a look at this mission you see a more balanced match of 8 vs 8. The average level is also 5(4.8 ) for the cons and 5(4.5 ) for the bots. However looking at the level spread you have a 10 and an 8 for the cons and for the bots a 6,6,7, and 9. Meaning that for any damage based builds (80% of the actual XP gain) the cons have more targets and the bots are fighting a fewer set. That fewer set is also a solid build set which means the damage they do actually does damage opposed to quick level builds that do 1/3rd of the damage or take 2x as much damage.

Edit: I use You a lot in this statement. This is not targeting AZ specifically, I just tend to write as I think and I was having this discussion with him in my head.

Not a bad Haul. I guess I am going to start having to record all of the RDD kills for everyone I see.. Le-sigh, Perhaps after this weekend.

Phaze wrote:Thou having lots of High lvl bots will inevitbly pay out in the long run as the more xp that the cons get will enable them to get to the higher rungs of the game.

But i think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this
like

This is not targeting AZ specifically, I just tend to write as I think and I was having this discussion with him in my head.

tl;dr

Zordon's got some good builds, but again, ram/repair. Ram won't put up the number of hits a repair will, and thus not as much damage, but it's going to score 30% every time, and has always been the tactic of choice when your side out numbers theirs. Strafe only really shines when you are out numbered. It's not much of a difference in the short haul, but when I switched Gauntlet from repair/strafe to repair/ram, his average XP per mission jumped by 5k. And with 8 tons of armor, he's got a much better survival rate.

Oh, a random thought... Saying "Well, they're not doing it, so why should I?" about leveling up is just an excuse. Who cares what they do? Besides, someone has to be the first.

I can see why you so upset though.

While that is true that it takes more XP for a single tactic alt to level up, Lithium has enough XP to be 2 upgrades into level 8 with taking the lowest cost upgrades. Pretty comparable stats too. In order, I got 10, 5, 10, 8, 7, 8, 6, 6, 10. Total cost: 23,027,000

Yeah and? You play your way, i'll play mine.

Do I seem pissed off? It's because I am. I get dragged into this, ONE bot of mine and I get singled out, but no one brings up this.

Actually, if you read through my posts I give you credit for a solid build character. I even stated you are just 2 or 3 million over having the final point put into Level 6. If you look at Darq and Lithium you will see many similarities, with the exception of emphasis on talent point distribution.

However AZ posted how he would do a quick level build there by removing, what I consider a solid build and placing Lithium into what I would consider a level build. How effective your character would be at level 8 vs level 6 and how much bonus XP you would generate from locking a higher level bot down would also change.

I wrote a quick script that makes some of this data pooling easier. It has to be manually run and goes through the the same process as everyone else, but instead of me doing searches manually and adding everything up, I just have it do a dump and display via the math that I want to do. I actually thought about speeding it up and dropping it into a personal SQL DB, but for right now I have an Access DB and an Excel file and a few dump text files that fit on an 8gb thumb drive.

Grr... Lithium was never an issue. It was a solid build and I was just trying to say that AD may actually be smart for building his bot to a more successful level than being just a fodder point. I couldn't really use any of my builds because, well you've seen them.

Either way, accept my apology for dragging you into something that I should have found a better example about.

Lithium never got characterised.

You will however have an issue with his replacement. I'd tell you to play nice, but that won't stop her.

I've brought up ROS doing it several times. I was just saying what I could do, I didn't bring up any other bots. I was just saying, that I could make a single tactic level 8. I could also make him level 7 with the same stats that you have, for the same XP, just by investing in others. So, don't get your nickers in a bunch.

It's not really a quick build. A quick build would be using a dual tactic with 1/3.5k tactic costs. Single tactics will always be superior, even if you do run them. If I switched to single tactics, I'd lose a level on my entire team.

Something in your post seems off though... You don't get a bonus from locking a higher level character. The only bonus you get is overkill bonus, which is just how much XP you got for how evermuch damage you did on the hit. If they had 1% life left, and your hit did 30% damage, you still get credit for the 29% overkill, you don't get extra XP for KOing someone of a higher level. o.O

Ok, I have no clue how to do that, but is there a way to do it on Open Office? I do not have Excel, so all my spreadsheets run through that.

Eh what I meant for bonus damage is not the overkill damage. I mean hitting an opponent for X damage opposed to Y because you decided to move 3 points from strength and put it into intelligence. Bonus was a poor choice of words.

As for your question about doing it in open office, I honestly don't know since I coded a majority of my code in VB with a few pieces of other code strung together so I could pull from the web page and then drop it into a "dump file" to be parsed.
