Your top five and bottom five animated figures.

Weapon: Star Saber Sword
Well its about a little more than a month now before the new Animated figure are released and at mass retail and slowly, but surely they’ve become the talk of the town here on the forums.

So what’s your five favorites and five least favorites? Mine:

Favorites:

01. Battle pack Prime. Generally, this figure I feel will be the best from animated, he has a nice look and maintains his classics appearance.
02. Voyager Bulkhead. A semi-realistic alt mode with an attractive robot, I deem voyager Bulkhead a good toy.
03. Ratchet. This figure isn’t my particular favorite from this line, but I’m very Ratchet bias and he has a good sum of tools.
04.Slag (I think that was his name?). Something about this figure I’m not to keen on, but we don’t get many “true” dinobots, and he looks pretty good.
05. Autobot Academy Bumblebee. For a number of reasons I didn’t like the BB toy from this line, but the colors on this repaint really help the toy a whole lot.

Bottom Five:

01. Lockdown: Out of scale, ugly, bad leg articulation from what I hear.
02. Oilslick: looks okay but ugly enough to rank under Lockdown.
03. Bumblebee: Out of scale, supposedly made from cheesy plastic, not the most beautiful thing.
04. Sentinel Prime: Doesn’t look much like his show appearance, legs are off.
05. Supreme Prime: Price tag, scale, reason? Just not very exciting at all.

Weapon: Concussion Blaster Gun
Top 5

1. Grimlock-- my fav. G1 character
2. Slag-- just looks like a great overall figure (awesome alt mode)
3. Soundwave-- one of my fav. Decepticons, and I'm happy with the alt mode
4. Leader Megatron-- nice homage to G1, very cool alt mode
5. Ultra Magnus-- finally a non-Prime repaint (that also looks good)

Bottom 5

1. Black Arachnia-- just no interest, never was a fan of BW
2. Arcee (if they make her)-- again, not no interest
3. Academy BB-- ugly
4. Ratchet-- seems okay, but one that could def. pass on
5. Sentinel Prime-- had potential, but that head is jacked up

I'm not sure if I can list 5 of each, because there's some I really like, some I don't much like, and the rest I don't have any strong feelings; it's hard to choose - they're all excellent.

Favourites:

Grimlock -just perfect. The colours, the G1-ness, everything.

Blitzwing -looks like the most fun, toy-wise

Bumblebee - just looks so cartoony and screen accurate.

Honourable mention
( really love all of these but couldn't decide who to leave in and who to leave out):

Ultra Magnus
Soundwave
Starscream
Snarl/Slag

Dislike:

Ratchet: doesn't look great. Looks out-of-shape, plus vehicle mode has painted side windows.

Prowl: bike is oversized. Bot mode has weiner.

Lugnut: he's actually pretty good, but bot mode isn't fat enough, and I don't like that bot mode doesn't use the tail.

He's not out of scale. Watch the episode again, Lockdown is very tall. It seems odd to rate toys you don't own. I'll rate the ones I got during BotCon, though. In order from best to worst:

1) Prowl. He's absolutely amazing! He looks awesome as a motorcycle and a robot. The transformation is very cool and he's exceptionally poseable. The throwing stars aren't great and the traffic light is pretty much useless but they don't seem very important.

2) Bulkhead. 100% pure Fagerbakke action! I can't wait for the leader class!

3) Lockdown. Looks great in both modes. The height is a plus. Seems prone to scratching, though. Good enough to make me watch "Thrill of the Hunt" again.

4)(tie) Cybertron Optimus Prime. Great robot mode. Not so great alt mode.

4)(tie) 2-pack Optimus Prime. Great alt mode. Not so great robot mode. The battle damage is bland. The axe is distractingly big.

6) 2-pack Megatron. Mediocre in both modes. Alt mode looks like nothing. Battle damage is worse than Prime's (pink does not make me think "damaged").

7) Bumblebee. He looks two-toned with two different shades of yellow. You want to talk about "out of scale"? Look no further. He's way too chunky in robot mode. I don't like his feet. The stingers are terrible and can't be hidden.

Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
I can't even begin to pick which ones are my faves (but I'll try)

Voyagers
Blitzwing
Grimlock
Lugnut
Optimus Prime
Starscream.

Leaders
Bulkhead
Megatron
Ultra Magnus.

Deluxes
Black Arachnia
Bumblebee
Jazz
Lockdown
Megatron (Cybertron)
Prowl
Ratchet
Sentinel Prime
Snarl
Swoop.

(okay, I cheated on this, :P)

Total failures...

Deluxes
Oil Slick (absolutely worthless piece of trash, scum bucket design.)
Optimus Prime (Cybertron)
Optimus Prime (Battle damaged Earth)

I loves me some Animated, if you couldn't tell.

From what I saw and have:

Good:
1)Ultra Magnus-Mjolnir is the sh%t
2)Grimlock(FLAMING SWORD!!!!!!!)
3)Soundwave(except for the stupid guitar weapon)
4)Starscream
5)Cybertron Megs-the vehicle mode, meh, but the 'bot mode is exceptional(For example)

Image
For size comparison, and
Image
For the glowy goodness

Bad:
1)Bumblebee(and all his stupid repaints, why god why? if you're going to do a repaint, repaint Starscream now and give me some Seekers and then do some worthless shelf warmer repaints)
2)Oil Slick(god, this one looks horrible, I second, third, and fourth everyone else)
3)"The Tick" i.e. Sentinel Prime lol
4)Bulkhead(both voyager and leader, he looks like a big green beach ball)
5)Optimus Prime(in pretty much all modes, he just doesn't look right for some reason)

I have to say the Dinobots are all top notch, and Jazz looks great too. Blitzwing is a must have. Lugnutz is a bit too small, and just doesn't fit sizewise(he should be a leader class, and have some earthquake power punch/groveling before Megatron noise/light action)

Motto: "Better than Michael Bay..."
Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
I've already got 7 of em, I wont comment on the ones i dont have but here's my list of preference of the ones I have:

1: Prowl; Simply awesome, really posably, excelent looking alt, great transformation, cool gimmicks, looks fantastic in both modes, a must have even if you dont like animated. My only question is wtf is the point in the traffic light flail?

2: Bumblebee; Fun and clever transformation, looks good in both modes, only real complaint is the difference in shades of yellow between painted and plastic.

3: Voyager Bulkhead; Transformation and robot mode sizewise, he feels like a large Deluxe rather than a Voyager, but I dont mind has he looks great in both modes, and has a fun transformation. The firing gimmick is meh, and naturally, his large body and tiny legs restricts his posability, still well worth owning.

4: Starscream; looks great, would probably rank higher if my one wasnt missing a bit (I am talking to the seller about sorting that out). Also has two right thumbs, but it isnt too noticable (just looks like his thumbs are in different positions).

5: Cyb Mode Prime; The robot mode is very nice and posable, but the transformation isnt particularly fun, and the alt mode never seems to quite fit right for me. Also my one has 2 left hands.

6: Black Arachnia; Looks reasonably good in both modes, although the distribution of legs and the hight of the back portion of her alt mode are disapointing (its REALLY hard to get all 8 legs to touch the ground). Uses annoying ribber parts that dont sit flat and the weapon looks rediculous in robot mode. The transformation is so so, but, the robot mode does look rather spiffing, shame about the less than brilliant paint apps on mine.

7: Cyb Mode Megatron; Altmode is very much like Movie Megatron, an asortment of robot parts flung at a wall and called a cybertronian mode. Robot mode would be awesome, if it wasnt for that goddamn weapon beign held on at a retarded angle and in a retarded way. Makes posing him really difficult, which is a shame. The weapon can be removed, but the bracket that holds it on just sticks out of his arm and looks dafter than his arm does with the gun. Its a real shame, as it looks so much like it *could* have been a great figure, but just falls short.

Going purely off the pictures and video reviews I've seen (I'm waiting for shops to get them rather than heading for eBay)

Top 5:

Prowl
Leader Bulkhead
Voyager Bulkhead
Ratchet
Blitzwing (Sean Long's review really turned me around on that one)

Bottom 5:

Cyb Optimus Prime
Earth Optimus Prime
Cyb Megatron
Earth Megatron
Oil Slick

For some reason, I can't bring myself to like the 'bot modes for the Megs and Prime toys. Earth mode megs alt looks ok, though.

I have to agree to a certain extent, that the overall look of all the different primes and Megs we have seen seem to be nto as good as the line's general look. That said, Cyb Mode prime does have a nice robot mode, and Earth Mode Megs looks rather spiffing.

There's a, sort of, explanation on the back of Prowl's card. In the "Galactic Powers & Abilities" box it reads, "Can use any object as a weapon". While that doesn't explain why it's a traffic light, it does explain why he comes with something.

Ahha, I never read that cuase my prowl arived unboxed.

Still seems odd, a charecter that already has a weapon for each hand comes with a pretty unnessercary weapon that dosnt fit on his alt, yet Bumbles and Bulkhead have nothing to hold at all (heck bulkhead dosnt even have removable accessories).

Favs:

Grimlock - I'm loving both modes. The other dinobots intrigue me.
Soundwave - kind of small-looking, but I'm hopeful
Starscream - awesomeness
Voyager Prime - not thrilled about his weapons, but that's a small complaint
Lockdown - the change from his deluxe size car to voyager size height fascinates me

Honorable Mentions for Favs: Ultra Magnus intrigues me, Leader Megatron looks powerful, Oilslick could be cool, I'm not sure about Bumblebee or Bulkhead, and Prowl's looking pretty neat.

Not-Favs:

Lugnut - he looked like he was going to be amazing, but then it turns out he's a shrimp, and I just don't like that green with the purple at all. Blech
Blackarachnia - her whole design just doesn't do it for me.
Ratchet - Meh
Jazz - I don't like his clunky design. Face is too long, headphones look silly, and sideview mirrors stick out too much.
Elite Guard Bumblebee - Yuck

Really though, my biggest complaint of this series is that the Autobot and Decepticon symbols aren't their respective red and purple colors. They're those colors in the cartoon, why not go all out on the toys? It's not a huge deal, but I was looking forward to these really looking like they came right out of the cartoons, and that makes them come up just short of that.

Well I meant it as more of an “what you are and aren’t looking forward to” esc thread, just thought it’d be fun for some of you guys. And who’s to say I don’t own them? They’re practically all over eBay now and were sold at Botcon so who’s to say I don’t own these toys? Well, you’re good at guessing cause I actually don’t own any of these toys, but I always could.

As for Lockdown, was he really THAT tall? I do remember him being tall, but not like Voyager tall.

Check out 2 minutes and 40 seconds into this video.

Hmm, I stand corrected, he is pretty tall.

Still, scale was more of an minor thing for me, he doesn’t do much to impress.

My favorites so far

1) Ultra Magnus this guy looks like a badass and is my favorite of TF:Animated line so far.

2) Grimlock-Other than his overbite in T-Rex mode I think he's a great looking figure.

3) Lugnut-I don't why but something about this figure appeals to me.

4) Megatron (both versions)-like Lugnut there is something that appeals to me.

5) Swoop-I think this figure has one of the best looking robot modes in the line.

Least favorites:

1) Bumblebee-this toy doesn't look all that interesting to me I might buy it if on it's sale.

2) Bulkhead-The character design doesn't appeal to me on either the show or as a toy, maybe if it's on sale and I
had absolutely nothing better to with my money.

3) Deluxe Optimus Prime-like BB and Bulkhead this figure doesn't appeal to me.

4) Starscream-I like the show's design but the photos I've seen of the toy I don't know...doesn't appeal to me, although I will probably buy it.

5) Sentinel Prime-cool looking torso and weapons but this figure looks like he's going to be a pain in the butt to
balance properly. Which is a shame because I wanted to like this figure and the legs just don't look sturdy enough to support him.
