Would I be correct in assuming that such "reaction videos" (god I hate those) partake in copyright infringement by using footage without permission?

Nope any unboxing or reaction videos as it doesn't matter what music/video, etc is playing in the background. I honestly don't care about anyone outside my small circle to give a crap what their reactions are to movie, toys, trading cards or whatever.
