Longrack is, and prefers to be, stationed with the front line unit of his team, with his best friend and advisor, Mach Kick. While Mach Kick is technically assigned as sub-commander to the front line unit, its ranks have been depleted, at best, of late. There have been many reassignments in the works, but not all of them have been issued.
Longrack is a fighter for all seasons. When he wants to fight from a distance, he has two powerful missiles on his back. His right arm is grafted as a crush claw that can be extended at high speeds for a powerful punch, a shredding swipe, or just to hold an opponent right where he wants them in a steel grip. If opponents get too close, he has a serrated battle dagger hidden in the armor by his left arm.
Or, if he has allies close by, Longrack can transform into his third mode, where his body becomes a mobile base and smaller Maximals can man his crush claw for any above-mentioned function. His fourth form is rarely seen due to a lack of need to use it in most scenarios. When handling heavy weaponry, when needing a means to handle recoil, or when a strong defensive position is needed, Longrack can keep the legs of his beast mode as they are and transform his upper body only for the support of all four legs.
Aside from this, Longrack is very sturdy and extremely smart, having graduated at the top of his class at the academy on Planet Seibertron.
Longrack is a professional thinker, worrier, and planner. While he cares a great deal for those he leads, he can be difficult for most people to follow due to his overly concerning demeanor. Mach Kick is a great counter to this, making sure he stays on track.
Longrack once served as sub-commander for Big Convoy's unit. After many trials, he was able to win the trust of his comrades, though Mach Kick gave him quite the challenge. Though the two used to fight quite a lot, Mach Kick being a former Predacon and refusing to acknowledge Longrack as a suitable commander, they grew to become great friends by the time Unicron was defeated.
Upon reassignment, Mach Kick stayed with him through the rest of his training at the academy. By the time word of the Heavy Metal War reached his sector of Planet Seibertron, he was ready to take on having a team of his own; seeing as he had graduated at the top of his class, choosing Longrack to represent the Maximals of their region was an easy decision for the High Maximal Council.
He decided the best course of action was to divide his team into three units, stationed in different locations and operating differently. His research and development unit would be located off the planet, on the nearby Planet Gaia. His mobile medical team would double as a covert ops and espionage team, located wherever they were needed to aid the wounded, unless otherwise instructed. The final team would be the ever troubled front line unit, where he could create strategies and make sure his team runs smoothly while still helping the effort as a medic, an effort to broaden his already extensive list of capabilities.
Longrack's beast mode is that of a sturdy giraffe. Being of an advanced rank and build, he's as tall as Mach Kick and almost as tall as Big Convoy.
Longrack is extremely smart and experienced, but he thinks too linearly and has trouble going outside of the lessons he's learned or thinking creatively on the battlefield. Also, while powerful and sturdy, Longrack is not extremely fast.
Based off of the Beast Wars Neo version, though the comic version is very similar.
