Pull up a sand bag and I'll spin you a dit
Of a lusty young captain, who’s now in the sh*t
A bit of a fable, or morality tale,
About the very best kind of miscellaneous fail.
It starts at a ball in a [REDACTED] mess,
(Predictably chippy, I have to confess)
Enter a major, with a guest in a dress,
Not a comrade in drag, but his sister no less!
Any man here can predict what’s to come,
But the hubris of Majors is second to none.
Lo and behold, hear this Major declare
That as a squadron commander, no subaltern would dare
To go through his sister – oh what a mistake,
For subbies delight in new rules to break.
It turns out it came true, this OC’s prediction,
For it did not take account of this girl’s predilection,
Not for your one-pip or two-pip type crow,
But for dashing young captains, with three pips to show.
In comes our hero, a name we well know
A subbie no longer (but still not CO)
For Lieutenant Ballbag has picked up, you see
And is now the aforementioned OC’s 2IC.
When she spots him, our heroine beams with delight,
And decides that young Ballbag will get lucky tonight.
Our hero, lamentably, is too drunk to have guessed
That she’s his dear OC’s sister, and not just his guest,
So they grind on the dancefloor, and run off to bed;
(Regarding the details, it’s best nothing is said).
At breakfast, the OC asks his right-hand-man
Where his guest went, after they’d danced to the band.
When poor Ballbag winks, and says ‘ I gave her the beans’
The Mess became witness to a violent scene,
As it seems that the Major was intent on maiming
Poor Captain Ballbag, and needed restraining
‘I’ll f**k you!’ he screamed, ‘you treacherous turd!’
‘From now until Doomsday you’ll stay bottom third’
So if you don’t want to copy the next JAR of this O,
Don’t shag the sister of your 1RO.
